馮叔鸞「戲學」之研究 / A Study of Feng Shuluan's dramatic criticism

姚贇㛃, Yao, Yun Jie Unknown Date (has links)
Feng Shuluan was one of the most famous drama critic in the early Republic of China. As a dramatist, he wrote more than ten scripts, most of which were staged. As a dramatic activist, he took part in many performances and dramatic education activities, as well as dramatic magazine editing works. Moreover, he wrote extensively on several topics as a drama critic, including dramatic basics and the history of drama. Some of them were later put together in the book <Xiaohongxuan’s drama criticism>. Others were published on the newspapers and magazines. This study regards Feng Shuluan’s drama criticism as the main research object. While collecting original data of him, special attention is paid on this nearly forgotten historical figure and his dramatic theory. With the analysis of his work, this study will endeavor to give him an adequate appraisal. Feng Shuluan’s dramatic criticism includes ontology, function theory, script theory, performance theory, theatre theory, audience theory and improved theory. He found out many problems of the critics at that time, and proposed the knowledge and moral standard a drama critic should possess. He tried to establish his drama criticism including both Chinese traditional opera and western drama as a new subject, which was a significant development of the dramatic theory and criticism.

Building a character: a somaesthetics approach to Comedias and women of the stage

Unknown Date (has links)
This dissertation focuses on the elements of performance that contribute to the actress's development of somatic practices. By mastering the art of articulation and vocalization, by transforming their bodies and their environment, these actors created their own agency. The female actors lived the life of the characters they portrayed, which were full of multicultural models from various social and economic classes. Somaesthetics, as a focus of sensory-aesthetic appreciation and somatic awareness, provides a pragmatic approach to understanding the unique way in which the woman of the early modern Spanish stage, while dedicating herself to the art of acting, challenged the negative cultural and social constructs imposed on her. Drawing from early modern plays and treatises on the precepts and practices of the acting process, I use somaesthetics to shed light on how the actor might have prepared for a role in a comedia, selfconsciously cultivating her body in order to meet the challenges of the stage. / by Elizabeth Marie Cruz Peterson. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2013. / Includes bibliography. / Mode of access: World Wide Web. / System requirements: Adobe Reader.

Francouzská bulvární komedie na českých divadlech a hledání překladatelských strategií / French boulevard comedy on Czech stage and searching of the translation strategy

Töröková, Sára January 2019 (has links)
The thesis is divided into two parts, one theoretical and one empirical. The first one presents origin and different perception of the boulevard comedy genre in France, Czech Republic, Germany, United Kingdom and USA. Afterwards, a brief characteristic of the boulevard comedy is presented in terms of content and subject matter. Four kinds of comedy are presented - comedy of manners, comedy of situation, comedy of intrigue and interactive comedy. The translatological analysis of the Czech translation of the French humorist Laurent Baffie's contemporary play Toc toc by the director and translator Jaromír Janeček constitutes the second main part of the thesis. The analysis is based on the theoretical studies of Jiří Levý and Jan Mukařovský, which are dealing with the translation of drama, and also on the theory of so-called Manipulation school of André Lefevere. Several problems have arised from the detailed analysis of the original text. The comparison of the translation and the original text is made on the ground of these problems. Subsequently, there is an evaluation of the translation. In some cases, a different solution is proposed. The work is supplemented by insights into the translation practice, which are drawn from personal interviews with translators and experts on drama.

Breytenbach by die Afrikaanse kunstefeeste : karnaval en ritueel in sy dramatiese oeuvre

Van der Vyver, Louïne Marilize 31 January 2007 (has links)
This study examines carnival and ritual in Breyten Breytenbach's dramatic oeuvre and focuses on his Afrikaans drama texts Boklied (1998) and Die toneelstuk (2001). Seeing that these dramas had their debut performances at the Afrikaans national arts festival, the Afrikaans festival phenomenon, as well as Breytenbach's texts will be discussed as framed Events, within a carnival environment, as defined and described by Russian philosopher Bakhtin. The study evolves around three critical questions: 1. How does Bakhtin define the term "carnival" and could Afrikaans national arts festvals be seen as platforms for carnavalesque expression? 2. How does Professor Temple Hauptfleisch define an Event and why can the Afrikaans national arts festivals, as well as the drama texts under discussion, be seen as such Events? 3. How does Breyten Breytenbach's texts link up with Bakhtin's carnival theory and the ritual nature of the Dionysos festivals? / Afrikaans & Theory of Literature / M.A. (Afrikaans)
