POLÃTICA DE EDUCAÃÃO PROFISSIONAL E TECNOLÃGICA NO BRASIL: DUALIDADE ESTRUTURAL E REFORMAS PARA A FORMAÃÃO PROFISSIONAL NA REDE FEDERAL DE ENSINO. / PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNOLOGY IN BRAZIL : DUALITY AND STRUCTURAL REFORMS FOR TRAINING IN FEDERAL EDUCATION NETWORK

Josà Nilton Alves Pereira Junior 23 March 2015 (has links)
This paper discusses the current educational policy formation workers under the Federal Professional Education Network. Worries put in the center of the Brazilian society debate as a way to understand what is the place of education in the development of productive forces, their role in the construction of dependent capitalism and how this condition favored the materialization of duality in the education field . Conducted a bibliographical and documentary study, in order to know to what extent the guidelines outlined in the Decree No. 5,154 / 04 and the actions resulting from it are contributing to overcoming the dualist school, that is, the design of vocational training for workers and another for the elite preparatory character. Analysis official documents that guided the educational policies of the past decades has enabled us to understand that the simple repeal of Decree No. 2,207 / 08, separating the high school vocational training, does not guarantee a training onilateral and emancipatory you need the working class.

An assessment of John Deere dealership service personnel needs and service managers' perceptions of the John Deere Ag Tech program

Dell, Timothy W. January 1900 (has links)
Doctor of Philosophy / Department of Secondary Education / Steven R. Harbstreit / John Deere Corporation sponsors 16 schools within the United States that are designed to educate students to become future agricultural equipment technicians. At the time of this study, the schools’ enrollments were at a less-than desirable level, 80% capacity. However, the company was receiving feedback that dealerships needed technicians. The need to determine the disparity between the need for technicians and the level of enrollment led to the pursuit of this study. The researcher sampled 306 John Deere agricultural service managers across the continental United States to determine: (a) if the dealerships truly needed technicians, (b) the methods dealerships were using for locating technicians, and (c) the service managers’ perceptions of the John Deere (JD) Ag Tech program. The study also analyzed the relationships between the service managers’ perceptions of the JD Ag Tech program and five independent variables: (a) number of technicians employed at John Deere dealerships, (b) number of stores dealer-organizations own, (c) distance between John Deere dealerships and the closest JD Ag Tech school, (d) number of JD Ag Tech students John Deere dealerships have sponsored, and (e) service managers’ age. The results of the study indicated that John Deere service managers did plan to hire technicians over the next 12 months as well as over the next three years. However, it was also determined that 60% of the service managers were only somewhat knowledgeable or unfamiliar with the JD Ag Tech Program. For the service managers that had experienced sponsoring JD Ag Tech students, those service managers were satisfied with the JD Ag Tech graduates. The researcher’s recommendations focused upon two areas. The first was to improve the marketing of the JD Ag Tech program to insure that all John Deere service managers become familiar with the program. The second recommendation was to focus on improving the “student” component of the partnership, by recruiting the students earlier in their high school careers, and having the partners work together to target high caliber students.

Childhood development and career development in eight year-old South African girls

Van der Westhuyzen, Nicole Tamsin January 2011 (has links)
Although it is generally acknowledged that critical career-related concepts and attitudes are first formed in childhood, research has focused little attention on this developmental stage. Statements about children‘s career development as an integral dimension of human development date to the early 1950s, yet limited research has investigated this interrelationship. It is imperative to gain a greater understanding of childhood career development in order to better prepare children for their future. The overall purpose of this study is to explore the interrelationship of childhood development and childhood career development. An exploratory-descriptive quantitative research method was used. Thirty participants (all eight year-old girls from a middle class, English speaking background) were selected through non-probability purposive sampling. Data were gathered from the Griffiths Mental Development Scales – Extended Revised (GMDS-ER) and the Childhood Career Development Scale (CCDS) and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicated a correlation, although not statistically significant, between childhood development and childhood career development, thus indicating a weak positive correlation between the two variables. Statistically significant relationships were established between certain subscales of the GMDS-ER and CCDS, namely Language and Exploration, Eye-Hand Co-ordination and Key Figures, and Practical Reasoning and Planning. The results from this study, although not conclusive, are groundbreaking in this neglected area of research as they indicate an interrelationship between childhood development and childhood career development. This research is an initial step in investigating this interrelationship and it is the hope of the researcher that it will stimulate further research in this area.

Not as cool as fighter pilots : an exploration of identity and learning for full-time quantity surveying students

Bonnar, Irene D. January 2007 (has links)
This study explores the relationship between identity and learning, in particular the concepts of ‘belonging’ and ‘becoming’ in respect of professional, vocational education. Adopting a case study approach, the study focuses on the quantity surveying discipline and the degree programme offered by my institution, and one specific cohort on same. As they progressed through their studies, an in-depth exploration of the formation of identity (ies) and the dispositions adopted towards learning was undertaken, involving two key milestones: at Level 1 (first year) when the participants had almost completed their studies, and again at Level 3 (third year) when the participants had returned from their period of professional placement. The conclusions of my study raise a number of issues for professional, vocational education in general, and more specifically, the provision of quantity surveying education within my institution. The outcomes of this investigation highlight three key areas for further attention: the tensions inherent in providing discipline-orientated programmes within a semesterised, modularised, more generic-focused system of delivery; issues surrounding the provision of professional placement opportunities including the emotional aspects of same; and the resultant impacts on dispositions and identity, ‘belonging’ and ‘becoming’.
