However, since its inception in 1939, we see many tensions and disagreements concerning its purposes, which call into question his own identity. In this study, we propose to identify and analyze the processes of identities' constitution of Pedagogy course and its students, especially after the establishment of the new National Curriculum Guidelines in 2006. To this end, we will use as reference for analysis the approach of political cycles proposed by Ball and other authors and also the concept of social identity proposed by Dubar. The sources of information used were the different legal documents guiding the course since its inception in Brazil, reports from course coordinators, teachers and students, and the information about the courses available in websites of colleges and universities located in São Paulo. From the categories proposed in the research, which were "Purposes formative," "Student Profile" and "Conditions for the completion of the course", it was possible the identification and analysis of social identities conferred on training, which are related both to the courses and their students. In this sense, we identified three types of identities, which we called "fluid identity", "overwhelmed identity" and "chimeric identity". These concepts allow us to understand the tensions and disagreements about the courses in question / Os cursos de graduação em Pedagogia oferecidos atualmente no Brasil são os principais responsáveis pela formação dos docentes para a Educação Infantil e os anos iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. No entanto, desde seu surgimento, em 1939, observamos inúmeras tensões e desacordos referentes às suas finalidades, o que coloca em discussão a sua própria identidade. Neste estudo, propomos identificar e analisar os processos de constituição das identidades sociais dos cursos de Pedagogia e de seus alunos, sobretudo após o estabelecimento das novas Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais em 2006. Para tanto, utilizaremos, como referencial de análise, a abordagem do ciclo de políticas propostos por Ball et al e também o conceito de identidade social proposto por Dubar. As fontes de informação empregadas pela presente pesquisa foram os diferentes documentos legais orientadores do curso desde seu início no Brasil, depoimentos de coordenadores, professores e alunos, além das informações sobre os cursos disponíveis nas páginas eletrônicas das instituições de educação superior localizadas no município de São Paulo. A partir das categorias propostas na pesquisa Finalidades formativas , Perfil dos Alunos e Condições para a realização do curso , foi possível a identificação e a análise das identidades sociais conferidas à formação, relacionadas tanto aos cursos de Pedagogia como aos seus alunos. Nesse sentido, identificaram-se três tipos de identidades, denominadas de Identidade Fluida , Identidade Sobrepujada e Identidade Quimérica , o que permitiu compreender as tensões e desacordos sobre os cursos em questão
