Evaluating WebQuests and the needs of a WebQuest rubric

Rountree, Kimberly Marie 01 January 2005 (has links)
Investigates how teachers evaluate WebQuests in an effort to describe and identify a common, generalizable rubric that new users of WebQuests could use. The investigation included how often the teachers who were surveyed used WebQuests in the classroom, and what these teachers used to evaluate WebQuests. Examines whether teachers are using rubrics they had created themselves, or WebQuest rubrics that are provided for them.

Derivace a její aplikace ve středoškolské matematice s využitím internetu / Derivative and its application in high school mathematics with use of Internet.

Trnka, Karel January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to create derivative-focused web pages as a new part of a high school mathematics educational web portal. The web portal is operated by the Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. It is primarily intended as an additional learning resource for high school students. The diploma thesis consists of two main parts. The first part describes a search for and evaluation of similar web pages in Czech, Slovak, English and Hebrew, which deal with the topic of derivative. The second part details the creation of new web pages. In creating the web pages the author integrated interactive elements based on JavaScript, and interactive applets created with use of GeoGebra software. To display mathematical expressions on the web, the author used the technology MathJax, which works with languages of the typesetting systems TeX and LaTeX.

Facilitating an online community among community college peer tutor trainees

Ruzicka, Matthew Robert 01 January 2005 (has links)
The project presents a web-based component for a tutor training program at College of the Desert, Palm Desert, California. The application is designed to be responsive and adaptable to the tutor's needs. It also addresses the logistic and pedagogical problems that plague many community college tutor trainers and helps to mitigate this through an online instructional system that facilitates communication among the tutors so that learning can occur in a situated context.

Personal Home Pages in Academia: The Medium, its Adopters, and their Practices

Rick, Jochen 19 April 2007 (has links)
Personal home pages are outgrowing their playful beginnings to serve serious purposes. At the forefront of this emergence is academia, where they are becoming a meaningful way for researchers to engage each other. Yet, the medium is still in its infancy: The medium, its adopters, and their practices are unduly constrained by current technology. To better study the meaning and use of personal home pages in academia, I created the AniAniWeb personal-home-page system to loosen these constraints. AniAniWeb applies wiki technology to facilitate easy editing, to enable interaction, and to focus the user on content creation. Others began adopting AniAniWeb in fall 2003. This dissertation centers on a case study of six graduate students and their experience with AniAniWeb over a period of two years. Their practices are viewed through three analytical lenses. Media theory focuses on the technology. Communities of practice focuses on the social context. Core identity theory focuses on the individual. When combined, these frameworks lead to a rich understanding of personal home pages in academia. Based on observations and interviews, issues of design, technology, meaning, and use are addressed.

Distance education: The development of online learning environments for the online student

Squillace, Diana Marie 01 January 2003 (has links)
This project examines online learning tools and software that are applicable to K-12 and post-secondary distance learning environments. Powerpoint, Webquest and Inspiration 7 have been utilized to develop a lesson plan and storyboard that incorporate the constructivist theory of learning. An accompanying Web site, "Learning Tools for the On-Line Student," serves as a resource for instructional technology educators and includes information on designing lesson plans and evaluating students. The site also provides links to online tools and software that are useful in online learning environments.

Adventures Of Kody A Children's Visual Storybook And Interactive Web Site

Walsh, Matthew L. 01 January 2010 (has links)
In order to experience unconditional love, prejudices must be exposed and overcome. People often meet others with a disability or handicap and unknowingly treat these individuals negatively. As a middle school teacher, I have often witnessed students behaving cruelly towards those that are different. When my dog became a paraplegic I was inspired to develop a project to assist young readers in the development of conscientious actions towards individuals with disabilities. This document chronicles the development, procedures, and outcomes of the process behind that artistic endeavor. The artistic elements of this thesis project are a written children's storybook and an educational interactive Web site to further teach inclusiveness to young readers. The images are real photos that have been manipulated to look like illustrations that enhance elements that are visually appealing to children in order to increase the images' communication value. The site has been designed to integrate the look and feel of the book, complementing and referencing it

Effect Of Constructed Web-supported Instruction On Achievement Related To Research Methods

Emmungil, Levent 01 September 2004 (has links) (PDF)
This study examined the effect of constructed web-supported instruction on students&rsquo / achievement related to research methods. Also, in this study, constructed web site was tracking the activities of students, namely entrance and exit time, logs of each entrance to the tests as well as the results of each entrance, and posts to the forum. Another intention of the study was to construct a web support system for traditionally offered courses in order to decrease both instructor and students efforts to communicate and reach for sources. In addition, the web site was prepared as a dynamic web site to decrease the instructor&rsquo / s construct and update time of the web site to the minimum level. The subjects of the study were 24 graduate students of SSME 520 Research Methods in Education course offered by the SSME Department of METU. None of the subjects was offered an on-line course before. The study used both quantitative and qualitative measurements to analyze the effectiveness of the site and. The results of the study showed that students had an average achievement value of 68%. There was significant correlation between the summary section usage of web site and research methods achievement, and test section usage of web site and research methods achievement. But there was no significant correlation between forum section usage of web site and research methods achievement. Another result showed that supportive web site should provide asynchronous communication for more effective usage. It can also be concluded that the speed and the visual design of the web site is very important for the students. During the development process, properties of web-based course management systems were taken as the models. Preferences of those systems were tried to accomplish. Unlike those systems, the developed site was not created for stand-alone course management systems but for an aid to the traditionally delivered courses. The framework was prepared not only for graduate courses, but also for other courses, because the study has intended to end up with a framework which would be easily adapted for all courses.
