The opportune reading of the historical-political-cultural backdrop makes possible larger explanation of the theology of the foregoing fragment mentioned especially because it is one writing with eschatological tonic. All exegetical-critical orientation of this dissertation intends to extract the original intention of the author of the sacred text. In this sense this dissertative work is divided in two blocks: the first explores the historicalpolitical- atmosphere, the theological-hermeneutical matrix that might have influenced the author of this Epistle and the syntactical-semantical analyses of eschatological hope of the text of Rm 8, 18-25; the second tries to analyze and to explore the theology of undertaken in the first block. In the meaning of the eschatological hope for the resident primitive community´s faith in the capital of the Roman Empire to whom Paul writes this Epistle. / Este trabalho procura abordar a esperança escatológica do texto de Rm 8, 18-25 numa perspectiva histórico-crítica e teológica. A leitura oportuna do pano de fundo histórico-politico-cultural possibilita maior esclarecimento da teologia da perícope supracitada, sobretudo porque se trata de um escrito com forte tônica escatológica. Toda orientação exegético-crítica do autor desta dissertação pretende extrair a intencionalidade originária do autor do texto sagrado. Neste sentido, o trabalho dissertativo se divide em dois blocos: o primeiro explora o ambiente histórico-político, as possíveis matrizes teológico-hermenêuticas que possam ter influenciado o autor desta epístola e a análise sintático-semântica de conceitos importantes para compreensão crítica da esperança escatológica no texto de Rm 8, 18-25; o segundo procura analisar e explorar a teologia do texto epistolar a partir da análise histórico-crítica empreendida no primeiro bloco. Na análise teológica, portanto, o objetivo é compreender o significado da esperança escatológica para a fé da comunidade primitiva residente na capital do Império Romano para quem Paulo escreve esta epístola.
