PCA and FA model for Matrix Valued Time Series Data

TharinduPriyanDeAlwis, MahappuKankanamge 01 August 2017 (has links)
Due to the advance of storage technology in computers, matrix valued time series observations are collecting in many fields like finance, economics, weather forecasting, and many fields. The matrix valued data bring information along its row wise and column wise, and if they are collect over the time we have to treat the data as a time series. If we use classical dimension reduction by converting the matrix into a long vector, the structural information is lost. Here, we discuss two different ways of dimension reduction namely: PCA model for matrix valued time series data and the FA model for matrix valued time series data which keep the matrix structure and reduce the dimension of the observed data. The estimating procedure, theoretical properties and a simulation study are presented and demonstrated for both of these models.

IT-system och organisationsutveckling

Lidbeck, Anders January 2010 (has links)
This report describes work on the thesis “IT systems and organizational development”. The work is carried out on Stocksbro Energi AB, during spring 2009. The company wanted better flow in their production but also review if the inventory management function located in Visma SPCS Administration 2000, could be used in the organization. Under the first part of this report the system were tested to ensure if the system would work together with the organization. After testing the desired features they were evaluated along with two of the users to the system at the company. The wanted functions could not be obtained whenthe Admin 2000 is an economic system and are not made for the producing companies. Thereafter the theoretical possibility was examined of introducing a more advanced system to get the desired functionality to work together with the organization. To introduce a more advanced system will require major changes of the organization, before, during and after the introduction. It is therefore important how the management implements a possibility of a new system. It’s important to make the staff join in this implementation but also get as much as possible out of the system. To conclude the thesis a goal and problem analysis but also a solution proposal was made with the help of the FA/SIMM method. Also some suggestions are mentioned how the company could proceed in the implementation of the proposals for a solution.

Förändringsförslag förABB:s godshantering : – Utvärdering av existerandeautomatiska datafångstmetoder

Niittula, Anneli, Johar, Johar January 2008 (has links)

An investigation into the topical and systemic safety and efficacy of a new carbohydrate derived fulvic acid (CHD-FA) product

Sabi, Riaz Ahmed 16 February 2009 (has links)
Humic substances are a group of ubiquitous compounds formed during the decay of plant and animal residues in the environment. These substances can be divided into humic acid, fulvic acid and humin on the basis of its solubility in water as a function of pH. Fulvic acid is the fraction that is soluble in water under all pH conditions and is usually extracted from brown coal and is therefore associated with high levels of heavy metals. These heavy metal levels have become a point of concern and a unique method for synthesizing fulvic acid from a carbohydrate source has been subsequently developed and patented in an attempt to address this problem. The purpose of this study was therefore, to test the topical and systemic safety and efficacy of this new carbohydrate derived fulvic acid (CHD-FA) product. Initial in vitro screening using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method indicated that the product was active against the Staphylococcus aureus test organisms used (ATCC 12600 and P3938). Results showed that not only was it as effective as the oxacillin control, but in the case of a more virulent strain of S. aureus, the CHD-FA (3.9% w/v) proved more active. Subsequently, the ability of the product to cross full-thickness skin was ascertained using Franz-type diffusion cells fitted with 100ìm skin disks obtained from rats. At the end of a 12-hr period, results indicated that up to 20% of the CHD-FA at a pH of 2.9 was able to cross the skin barrier. Divided into 6 phases, extensive animal safety studies were conducted on the product. In phase I, toxicity and sensitivity to topical application was examined by applying the product to the ears of mice over a period of 30 days. Phase II and III was undertaken to study the long term effects (6-weeks and 6-months) of CHD-FA ingestion (150 mg/kg body mass) whilst phase IV tested the effects of CHD-FA ingestion on pregnant rats and their off-spring. Phase V was an acute toxicity study in which rats received a single oral dose of CHD-FA (150mg/kg bw) and then observed for a period of 7 days. Phase VI was a 6-week chronic study in which the animals received 100mg/kg bw daily for the duration of the experiment. Results obtained in all studies showed that CHD-FA is safe for topical as well as, oral use at the doses tested. In addition, it is safe for use during pregnancy. Finally, the in vivo anti-microbial efficacy of the CHD-FA was examined using an infected wound healing model. A pilot study indicated that the animals used should be immunocompromised and the wounds inoculated with a Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 12600) concentration of 1x1010 CFU/ml. Results from the main study showed that topical applications of the CHD-FA (pH 1.98) product at a concentration of 1.75% w/v over the 5-day period produced a wound healing pattern similar to that of the positive fuscidic acid control. In contrast, animals receiving an oral treatment of the product did not produce a pattern different from that of the water control group. In conclusion, CHD-FA has been shown to be safe and effective in treating S. aureus infections in vitro and in animal models. This study indicates that the next phase of human studies is certainly warranted. / Dissertation (MSc)--University of Pretoria, 2009. / Pharmacology / unrestricted

Složení mastných kyselin analogů tavených sýrů / Composition of fatty acids in processed cheese analoques

Sůkalová, Kateřina January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with the determination of fatty acids of processed cheese analogues. The aim is to identify and quantify the fatty acids in selected samples of cheese analogues. The introduction is a brief overview of the composition and properties of cheese analogues, technology and application options. The following describes the appropriate method for the determination of fatty acids in cheese and cheese analogues. Of these methods the largest part is devoted to gas chromatography, which is most frequently used method for detection of volatile fatty acids. Individual cheese analogues used for the analysis, contained various types of added fats. Specifically, the milk fat, coconut oil, sunflower oil, palm oil and butter. Samples of these fats were extracted and then converted to methylesters by methanol esterification with catalysis by potassium hydroxide. The most important fatty acids were identified and quantified in samples of cheese analogues using gas chromatography and compared with fatty acids of fats used for the preparation of these analogues are used.

Optimalizace a validace metody stanovení volných mastných kyselin / The optimization and validation of the method for assessment of free fatty acids

Sýkora, Michal January 2016 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the development of method for free fatty acids determination in natural and processed cheese. In the theoretical part the possibilities of extraction, fractionation and determination of lipid fractions, characterization of fatty acids and various methods of their determination are described, as well as determination of free fatty acids. The main scope of the experimental section is optimization and validation of the selected method for determination of free fatty acids in various cheese matrices. For extraction of lipids from the sample the method with the mixture of diethylether and petrolether according to ČSN EN ISO 1735 was selected. Thin-layer chromatography and solid phase extraction were tested and compared for separation of free fatty acids. The method according to ČSN EN ISO 5509, using methanol solution of bortrifluoride, was applied for esterification. Fatty acid methyl esters were determined by gas chromatography with flame-ionization detection.
