For this, we studied the establishment of tradition in commemoration of northeastern cultural identity in the merriment of the boi-bumbá. The work focused on the study of the construction of cultural identity of northeastern migrants in Porto Velho and, as the tradition of celebrating, boi-bumbá influenced for this cultural event became symbol of that social roup. This process of boi-bumbá celebration of tradition comes over time getting many influences, as there are cultural appropriations, that is, a cultural hybridity, a consequence of the mass communication of late post-modern society. Therefore, the research contributed to emphasize relationships of the Northeastern migratory movement has today in Porto Velho, in the local culture, in folklore, in short, the cultural identity of porto-velhense society. / A pesquisa analisou o papel da tradição na comemoração do boi-bumbá na consolidação da identidade cultural nordestina em Porto Velho. Para isso, estudou-se o estabelecimento da tradição na comemoração da identidade cultural nordestina no folguedo do boi-bumbá. O trabalho focou no estudo da construção da identidade cultural dos migrantes nordestinos em Porto Velho e como a tradição da comemoração do boi-bumbá influenciou para que essa manifestação cultural se tornasse símbolo desse grupo social. Esse processo da tradição da comemoração do boi-bumbá vem ao longo dos tempos recebendo muitas influências, pois há apropriações culturais, ou seja, um hibridismo cultural, consequencia da comunicação massiva da sociedade pós-moderna tardia. Portanto, a pesquisa procurou evidenciar as relações que o movimento migratório nordestino tem, hoje, em Porto Velho, na cultura local, nas manifestações folclóricas, enfim, na identidade cultural da sociedade porto-velhense.

One was Leonardo Mota (1891- 1948) that examined these relationships by calling attention to the "divorce between the Interior and the Sea" (MOTA, 1925, p.5). However, this "divorce" and difficult relationship between the hinterland and the Brazilian coast were not new, brought the unfolding of a series of constructs images and ideas produced historically. This paper makes an analysis about the construction of the national culture project created by Leonardo Mota in the years 1920-1930 and the historicity of the constructions of these images and ideas that influenced the consolidation of the distance between the hinterland and the coast, and also contributed in formation of national identities. / Nas primeiras décadas do século XX, intelectuais brasileiros discutiram as relações entre os sertões e as cidades litorâneas brasileiras. Um deles foi Leonardo Mota (1891-1948) que analisou essas relações chamando a atenção para o “divórcio entre o Sertão e o Mar”(MOTA, 1925, p.5). Entretanto, esse “divórcio” e difícil relação entre os sertões e o litoral brasileiros não eram novos, traziam os desdobramentos de uma série de construções de imagens e ideias produzidas historicamente. Esta dissertação faz uma análise sobre a construção do projeto de cultura nacional criado por Leonardo Mota nos anos de 1920-1930 e sobre a historicidade das construções dessas imagens e ideias que influenciaram a consolidação do distanciamento entre os sertões e o litoral e, ainda, contribuíram na formação de identidades nacionais.
