Rodinná politika ve vztahu k rodinám po rozvodu / Family policy in relation to families after divorce

Krejčíková, Tereza January 2016 (has links)
In my thesis I am concentrating on family policy in relation to families after divorce or separation. I am focusing on problems which single-parent families have to deal with. Specifically, I am analysing current forms of child custody of under-aged children after the divorce. I have examined circumstances which lead to award the custody of the child and risks of these arrangements. Every single form of child custody is enriched by a case study. In connection with maintenance obligation I have investigated latest political instruments which are used for maintenance order. Furthermore I have looked into newly emerging policy of the maintenance backup plan. The aim of the thesis was accomplished by desk research and primarily evaluation of data which I collected by qualitative research interview, concretely semi-structured interviews with experts in this field. Based on main theoretical ground my research I concluded that single-parent families are considered as group of "dependents". Another theory I have worked with in my thesis is the theory of material and psychological deprivation. Material deprivation is related to not paying maintenance by a parent. This is causing that single-parent families, typically single mothers, find themselves in suffer hardship which can endanger the life and...

Understanding the transgenerational orientation of family businesses: the role of family governance and business family identity

Süss-Reyes, Julia 08 1900 (has links) (PDF)
The development of a transgenerational orientation is one of the most significant challenges that family businesses face and only a small number actually survive across generations. While prior research has focused on the business unit to provide us with a solid understanding of how corporate governance affects business performance and continuity, the role of the business family in the development of a transgenerational orientation has received less attention. To address this gap, this article applies a new systems and social identity theory framework to examine how family governance and business family identity can contribute to strengthening the transgenerational orientation of the business. A transgenerational orientation is defined as a decision premise to maintain the family's control over the business across generations. Using a large data set, findings show that the presence of family governance measures and the business family's identity are positively related to a transgenerational orientation of the business, with business family identity acting as a mediator. Thus, the development of family governance measures can foster communication within the business family and enhance the family members' emotional investment in the business which strengthens the transgenerational orientation in the business. A world shared - a world apart : the being and doing of family after a close other has died late in life : a hermeneutic-phenomenological study

Naef, Rahel January 2015 (has links)
In later life, the death of a family member occurs most often after a challenging time of family caring. It denotes a dramatic event in families’ lives, and involves intense feelings for all. To date, bereavement has mainly been investigated as an intrapersonal process from the perspective of family carers or widow/ers. Little is known about families’ experience when an adult member has died. A review of pertinent literature located only six adult family bereavement studies, which exposed the importance of family cohesion, communication and emotion, and found that family characteristics denote the background from which families make sense of the death. Despite these insights, a dearth of research exists about families’ lived relational world after a death late in life. Such knowledge is needed to better grasp bereaved families’ life-world and to discern their capacities and adversities, which shape their support needs. The purpose of this hermeneutic-phenomenological inquiry was to disclose meaning patterns and practices of families living with the loss of a close other. It included ten bereaved community-dwelling families, represented by widow/ers (mean age 80y), adult children, in-laws and grandchildren (n=30). Family was defined as a situated, relational involvement by those who feel close, and living with loss was seen as a process of changing relationships. A combination of in-depth family group (n=21) and solo interviews (n=16) were held six to 23 months after the death, and field-notes were written. The thematic and narrative analysis, embedded in a hermeneutic movement, involved reading, reflecting, and writing about gleaned data, fore-understandings, and emerging insights. Findings revealed that families’ life with loss is a world shared, and a world apart. Families collectively looked back to weave the death into their family narrative, and in so doing, constructed a story of a good death, compared-contrasted it with other deaths and events, and situated it within their multi-generational family context. Families lived with their loss by sharing-not sharing interpretations and daily lives. They connected via remembering, talking, spend-ing time, and enacting presence, but they disconnected for a variety of reasons. Families moved forward by continuing or reconstructing their family being and doing. While some families faced upheaval, others continued with little change. These findings need to be seen as situated, temporal constructs of prolonged researcher-participant engagements. They yield insights into families’ world based on the accounts of ten traditional families. Even so, this study adds a much needed empirical family perspective on bereavement. Family relations arose as interplay of different, contradicting forces at play, which moved members together and apart in their daily lives with loss. As such, it supports family models that emphasize the multivocal, relational, contextual, and continuously shifting nature of family health. It revealed that families hold an inherent capacity to make meaning of the death and enact family thereafter, and understand their relationships as resource. Thus, families may not need professional therapeutic interventions to redress their “functioning” or to avert “adverse” outcomes, but health promoting and relationship-strengthening care and services. Nurses can be helpful to families by facilitating meaning-making, strengthening family relations in a way that values multiple voices at play, and by supporting family transition and caring in light of present concerns.

Segregation at work, segregation at home : Turkish women, gendered jobs and prestige

Ermis, Asli January 2015 (has links)
This study sets out to understand the position of Turkish women in gendered jobs and jobs with different levels of prestige from the 1980s to the 2000s, and to compare this position to that of women in similar countries where possible. Although Turkish women's enrolment rates in traditionally male subjects in higher education is above the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average and despite the fact that they exceed their male counterparts in their graduation rates in most of the university subjects, this success is not reflected in the labour market. Turkish women are mostly trapped in female occupations with medium level of prestige and are particularly excluded from top-ranked jobs. This study argues that the vicious circle of society's expectations of women in the private sphere and the statistical discrimination based on the fulfilment of these expectations affect women's likelihood to be in these jobs negatively. While increasing educational level strongly improves women's position in male-dominated jobs (within 'professional, scientific and technical jobs' category in particular) and their prestige levels, evidence also shows that there is still a drastic lost potential in respect of highly qualified women's employment considering that still in 2010s, there is a remarkable proportion of highly educated women who are not in paid work. It is observed that in 2012, women expanded their attainment in relatively low-prestige jobs and increased their participation further in professional jobs in accordance with their rising higher educational attainment, yet still only 3% of working women are in managerial jobs (TurkStat, 2012). This implies that the prescribed gender roles that saddle women with the heavy burden in the private sphere, which also affect highly educated women's career trajectories, could even be more persisting than the influence of the traditional social structure on women's work that is expected to cause low qualified women to be represented at low rates in (less prestigious) jobs with non-traditional conditions. Considering that women withdraw from the labour market mostly due to marriage, and the findings show that marriage and having children have a negative impact on women's careers at large, attention should be focused on the private sphere. Looking at Turkish households, it is found that the gender segregation at work is reflected in the private sphere: women undertake the demanding traditionally female housework and while there are more potential sources of support for childcare compared to household chores, women's employment status and level of income also do not make a substantial difference in terms of the former also the unbalanced domestic division of labour unlike it is for the latter. Results demonstrate that Turkish men do not have a particularly traditional gender ideology regarding women's paid work. However, their lack of involvement in female chores creates a barrier for women's careers in a semi-direct pattern. The findings refer to the need for a faster increase in Turkish women's higher educational attainment and a stronger external support system via social policies at work and at home. It is also important to reinforce a more egalitarian gender ideology regarding men's roles as spouses and fathers as well as to promote the importance of women's different roles in private and public spheres, not only as wives and mothers but also as individuals, citizens and employers/employees.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Sabrine Passos.pdf: 1270409 bytes, checksum: f633604c69c616cf39bfa95354d23431 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-07-05 / The present study analyzed the use of Family Mediation and its relationship with Public Policy in the city of Pelotas. The study had four moments: in the introduction, we indicate the objectives and the motivations for the investigation of this theme. In the second moment, we discuss the constitution of contemporary families and their challenges, ranging from the historical aspects of family formation to the analysis of the importance of the State and Social Policies focused on the family. In the third, we treat Mediation as a way of access to justice, where the main concepts were approached; its use in other countries, as well as the importance of mediation as Public Policy in the perspective of Family Law. At the end, we locate the Comarca de Pelotas; the scope of the research; the data collected with the blog of the Judicial Center for Conflict Resolution and Citizenship (CEJUSC) and also the subjects of the research that were composed of mediators and a Magistrate of the same Region, as well as reflect the use of mediation in contemporary cases. The methodological paths adopted for this research were bibliographic, documentary and questionnaire application with open and closed questions analyzed under content analysis and organized into graphs. The subjects of the research were seven (7) mediators of CEJUSC and one (1) magistrate acting in cases of family mediation between August 2016 and August 2017 in the city of Pelotas. The results obtained through the investigation indicated the need to recognize family mediation as an instrument of Access to Justice and Public Policy, since it is not widely publicized and has no financial incentive from the State and the Court of Justice, nor from the of lawyers for its use, thus not preventing further prosecution. The survey found that Pelotas has two units of CEJUSC acting and the most recurring cases are linked to divorce, child support and child custody. However, there is a need for greater investment by the State to implement and recognize this Policy / A presente pesquisa analisou a utilização da Mediação Familiar e sua relação com a Política Pública na cidade de Pelotas.
