Human movement sonification for motor skill learningDyer, John January 2017 (has links)
Transforming human movement into live sound can be used as a method to enhance motor skill learning via the provision of augmented perceptual feedback. A small but growing number of studies hint at the substantial efficacy of this approach, termed 'movement sonification'. However there has been sparse discussion in Psychology about how movement should be mapped onto sound to best facilitate learning. The current thesis draws on contemporary research conducted in Psychology and theoretical debates in other disciplines more directly concerned with sonic interaction - including Auditory Display and Electronic Music-Making - to propose an embodied account of sonification as feedback. The empirical portion of the thesis both informs and tests some of the assumptions of this approach with the use of a custom bimanual coordination paradigm. Four motor skill learning studies were conducted with the use of optical motion-capture. Findings support the general assumption that effective mappings aid learning by making task-intrinsic perceptual information more readily available and meaningful, and that the relationship between task demands and sonic information structure (or, between action and perception) should be complementary. Both the theoretical and empirical treatments of sonification for skill learning in this thesis suggest the value of an approach which addresses learner experience of sonified interaction while grounding discussion in the links between perception and action.

A Study on the Relationship between Compensation System, Organizational Commitment and Employee Performance - Case of the Boiler Manufacture Industry.Chang, Feng-Ming 01 July 2002 (has links)
Abstract
The traditional industry of Taiwan boiler manufacturers¡¦ compensation system design is now facing the challenge of gradually improving working conditions and decreasing employees work hours to 84 hours (two week); in accordance with government regulations. These changes deeply affect organizations¡¦ development and cause a sense of uncertainty among employees. In addition, enterprises are becoming more concerned with improving employees¡¦ performance in order to enhance the performance of the organization as a whole. That is the reason to choose compensation system and performance as researching objective for this study.
How does the compensation system affect performance? Which variables of compensation system may affect performance? This research refers to a cause and effect model of the organizational commitment to show the relationship between the compensation system, organizational commitment, performance, and how they influence each other. This study assumes that the compensation system affects performance via organizational commitment, which acts as the medium actor. Boiler manufacture industry employees are the object of this study; and there are 232 effective questionnaires in this survey. After statistic analysis, the study finds that:
1. The higher organizational commitment employees undertake, the higher performance they show; these two variables show positive correlation and influence.
2. The higher perceptions employees have toward the compensation system, the higher they expect to perform; these two variables show positive correlation and influence.
3. The higher perceptions employees have toward the compensation system, the higher commitment they undertake; these two variables show positive correlation and influence.
4. The compensation system either directly or indirectly affects performance via organizational commitment.
5. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to set up the integral pattern , and run on LISREL 8.2 to analyze data. The variable structure¡¦s appropriateness of this study is appropriate, and also able to prove that, organizational commitment is the medium factor between the compensation system and employee performance.

In a contemporary world saturated with technology, where data has become a means tounderstand and optimize almost everything, the educational sector seems reluctant towards it.In order to change that, it is argued that formative assessment is a sustainable way to monitorfeedback data for the purpose to improve school environment. Used in the classroom, it shiftsthe focus from the outcome of pupils’ learning to their real needs.This study elaborates on the lack of feedback for teachers and the referring potential oftechnology usage in schools. Due to, inter alia, a co-creation workshop, novice teachers anddesigners collaborated to create several prototypes, which were used in a real classroomsituation afterwards. Those prototypes enabled a deep understanding of the current perceptionof feedback as well as the technology awareness of students and teachers.The research results were discussed from various angles, including young teenagers’and experienced teachers’ views. The outcome analysis led to the need of a student-centredcurriculum which offers explorative access to technology and feedback for everybodyinvolved in a school environment.
