The goal is to reflect upon the question of happiness, asking whether happiness can be associated to a moment of lucidity, of self understanding, associated to an epiphany. To this investigation, the following hypothesis were considered: that happiness is written in the writing process and the paradox is one of the keys to this process; that the search for the construction of happiness reflects the union of joys and agonies of human beings, and that the happiness metaphor reveals the proceedings to reach the epiphany. The following short stories were selected to this study: Felicidade Clandestina (Clandestine Happiness) and Feliz Aniversário (Happy Birthday). The theoretical base that supports this analysis is focused on three pillars. Concerning happiness, the philosophical concepts of Aristotle and Epicurus were prioritized. As to the aesthetic effects projected by the discursive action, the references searched were Poe, Cortázar and Sant Anna. To discuss happiness and epiphany, the base used here is the studies of Olga de Sá. This paper explores in its three chapters the genesis of the happiness discourse, the structure of the claricean short story, the story analysis, the happiness dialectic, and the contradictions of beings and language that result in texts built without a happy end. Amongst other conclusions, it was found that in the process of building the happiness discourse some existential truths are revealed in fractions of seconds, and those existential truths question themselves continuously, emulating the contradictions of human beings in finding happiness with an epiphany / A presente dissertação busca apreender o método de construção da felicidade em contos de Clarice Lispector. Objetivando refletir sobre a problemática da felicidade, perguntamo-nos se a felicidade pode ser associada a um momento de lucidez, de entendimento do próprio eu , associando-se à epifania. Consideramos para esta investigação, as seguintes hipóteses: a felicidade está inscrita no processo de escritura, sendo o paradoxo uma das chaves desse processo; a busca da construção da felicidade reflete a união das alegrias e agonias do ser humano e a metáfora da felicidade revela os procedimentos para se chegar à epifania. Para o estudo, foram selecionados os contos: Felicidade Clandestina e Feliz Aniversário . A fundamentação teórica que sustenta a análise é alicerçada em três pilares. No que diz respeito à felicidade, priorizamos os conceitos filosóficos de Aristóteles e Epicuro. Com relação aos efeitos estéticos projetados pela ação discursiva, buscamos referências em Poe, Cortázar e Sant Anna. Para a discussão da felicidade e da epifania, fundamentamo-nos, primordialmente, nos estudos de Olga de Sá. O trabalho procura explorar, ao longo de três capítulos, a gênese do discurso da felicidade, a estrutura do conto clariceano, a análise dos contos, a dialética da felicidade e as contradições do ser e da linguagem que resultam na construção de textos sem happy end. Entre outras conclusões, apreende-se, no processo de construção do discurso da felicidade, a revelação, em frações de segundos, de verdades existenciais que se questionam continuamente, a mimetização das contradições do ser humano no encontro da felicidade com a epifania

Each short story chosen for this work points to a different movement of desire and of learning towards the subject construction. Thus, from the desiring state, the character in Clarice Lispector dives into a realm of self-discovery, wandering from joy to frustration essential in the constant search of themselves. While analyzing this corpus, our main theoretical framework was the convergence of Literature and Psychoanalysis, since the line of research that we follow allows for the study of Lispector s characters always torn between the spoken and the non-spoken. In the introduction, we went through several of the readings carried out about desire and its constitution, finding echo in Freud theories as well as in those of his followers besides taking a glance at the philosophical thought as well. In the first chapter, we weaved our theoretical path between Literature and Psychoanalysis. The following chapters were dedicated to the analyses of the chosen short stories, culminating with the study of Os desastres de Sofia a story that anticipates recurring themes found in Lispector s short stories, especially in terms of childhood constitution as a risky space. When we selected to investigate desire in Lispector s fiction, as well as the unfolding elements and frustrations, we noticed that there was a typical organization of the different forms, by which the characters relations, identities and alterities were interwoven. At the same time, one can see a fertile terrain in which the Other s unknown and flourish in confrontation with the self s unknown / Propomos, nesta dissertação de mestrado, uma leitura do desejo na obra de Clarice Lispector, partindo do estudo de O primeiro beijo , Tentação , Felicidade clandestina , Restos do carnaval e Os desastres de Sofia , que compõem o volume de contos Felicidade clandestina, publicado em 1971. Cada conto escolhido aponta para um diferente movimento do desejo e sua aprendizagem na construção do sujeito. Dessa forma, a partir de um estado desejante, a personagem clariciana mergulha num processo de auto-descoberta, que transita entre o gozo e a frustração, essenciais na busca constante que operam em si mesmas. Na análise desse corpus, usamos como principal referencial teórico a confluência Literatura/Psicanálise, uma vez que a linha de pesquisa privilegia o estudo das personagens de Lispector, sempre inseridas num limiar entre o dizer e o não-dizer. Na introdução desse trabalho, percorremos várias leituras acerca do desejo e sua possível constituição, encontrando ecos nas teorias de Freud e seus seguidores, além de uma breve inserção no pensamento filosófico. No primeiro capítulo, tecemos um percurso teórico das relações entre Literatura e Psicanálise. Nos capítulos seguintes, detemo-nos nas análises dos contos escolhidos, culminando no estudo de Os desastres de Sofia , obra que antecipa recorrentes temas da contística clariciana, sobretudo a constituição da infância enquanto espaço de risco. Ao elegermos a investigação do desejo na ficção de Lispector, bem como os seus desdobramentos e frustrações, percebemos uma organização das diferentes formas de configuração das relações de personagem, identidade e alteridade. Ao mesmo tempo, vislumbramos um terreno fértil onde floresce o desconhecido do Outro em confronto com o desconhecido de si
