Gender role personalities and physical attractivenessBailly, Laura 01 December 2012 (has links)
The purpose of the current study was to explore whether personality dispositions can influence perceived physical appearance. Past research demonstrates that gendered and non-gendered characteristics lead to differential preferences for potential romantic interests among males and females (e.g., Cash & Smith, 1982). These previous studies have not, however, measured direct influence on pulchritude. In the present study, gendered and non-gendered personality descriptions were paired with pictures of average-looking individuals of both sexes to determine the influence of gender roles on perceived physical attractiveness. I hypothesized that males would find androgynous females more physically attractive than gender-typed and non-gender typed females. Similarly, females would find androgynous males more physically attractive than gender-typed and non-gender typed males. Findings indicated that feminine and androgynous personalities significantly increased perceived physical attractiveness of target females for the male participants, whereas undifferentiated and masculine roles significantly decreased perceived physical attractiveness of target males for female participants. Target photographs accompanied by feminine personality descriptions were rated the highest in overall desirability by both sexes.

The differences will be researched in technical texts published in both the online and print versions of scientific magazines. The work is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part will describe predominantly grammatical categories of nouns (number, countability, determination, gender, case) connected with gender issues. / The objective of this dissertation is to analyze the consumption habitus of female agents using the social stratification method of Pierre Bourdieu, which maintains that the social, cultural, economic and symbolic capitals interfere in the formation of the tastes and desires of individuals. Thus, a research hypothesis and a society interfere in the inclinations of women, becoming a deciding factor of fashion consumption, specifically without footwear segment, because this is a symbolic capital construction. Recent Search found in a market magazine, by means of market, an average consumption to a relevant brand each of months. For this reason, such demand can be considered inelastic. Through a qualitative research, applied through a questionnaire open to ten women from the interior of São Paulo, it was noted that this phenomenon suggests that the consumption of footwear by women develops in a ward of factors with consumer rationality, and satisfaction To make a reference to a human being, and, that this being an essential attribute of each individual is justified then, that a society in which is inserted and founder of the habitus.

Begränsad och befriad : En intervjustudie om unga kvinnors erfarenheter av kvinnliga könsroller i pingströrelsen / Limited and Liberated : An interview study on young women's experiences of female gender roles in the Pentecostal movementWaldemarsson, Ebba January 2023 (has links)
How the church views the female sex is an ongoing discussion, something that is noticeable in, among other things, the Christian newspaper Dagen, where there has been a recent debate about female leadership and the different or equal characteristics of the sexes. Against the background of this debate, this study is directed toward female gender roles in the Pentecostal movement. The purpose of the study is to contribute to knowledge of young women's experiences of female gender roles in the congregation and the interaction with their individual views on gender. To meet the purpose, nine interviews have been conducted with young women who are active in Pentecostal congregations in southern Sweden. In the result, the informants' views on the gender perspective are first presented. Then follows their experiences of stated and implicit gender roles in religious activities. Finally, the informants' approach to their experiences from the congregation is presented. There is a variety of experiences of female gender roles, but a greater agreement in their general thoughts about gender roles. Being a woman in the congregation is explained both as something neutral and something distinctive, in a positive and negative sense. Overall, the conclusion has been drawn that the gender roles experienced by the informants can be experienced as both liberating and limiting for the individual.

Jazyková feminizace v současné portugalštině / The Linguistic Feminization in Contemporary PortugueseFolvarčný, Martin January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the expression of the feminine gender in contemporary Portuguese. It is mainly concentrated on the manifestations of linguistic feminization within two language variants of Portuguese (European and Brazilian). The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part focuses on general issues related to the grammatical category of gender. This means that the linguistic gender is examined from a historical, semantic and syntactic point of view. Due to different interpretations of this category, the very nature of the grammatical gender is also discussed. The second part analyses the different ways in which the feminine gender can be expressed in contemporary Portuguese. The practical part is introduced by the third chapter and is connected with the main goal of this diploma thesis. It consists in verifying whether the manifestations of linguistic feminization, in this case the use of gender inflected forms, are common linguistic phenomena in Portuguese or not. To confirm this statement, linguistic data from two language corpora were used for this verification. Furthermore, the answers to the online questionnaire aiming at this issue became an additional source of the necessary data. The resulting figures prove a certain presence of linguistic feminization in both...
