Aging causes changes in various aspects that determine greater fragility front of pathological processes, making individuals more susceptible to disease. Caregivers of elderly, formal or informal, looking aside decisions and procedures with the elderly and when they are suffering from chronic wounds, then face a bigger challenge. The main factors that have been identified in this research shows that there is influence in addressing chronic wounds by caregivers, which were grouped into five areas (or environments): physiological, psychosocial, economic, political and spiritual. Chronic wounds cause changes in the life of the person from the disease undergoes changes in its pattern and lifestyle and begins to live according to your problem, giving up the things they like and the activities they performed. Besides involving issues with the appearance and limitations, the disease also undermines the "psyche" due to changes in self-image, affective and emotional life. This study aims to investigate how religion and spirituality can help in coping with chronic wounds. It is a study of observational descriptive, cross-sectional design and qualitative and quantitative approach. The results showed that patients with chronic wounds elderly addition to turn to medical help, make use of their faith in God for healing and improving their quality of life. The data indicate the relevance of the study on the elderly possessors of chronic wounds, the humanized medical care and the importance given by them about the religious aspects and faith in the healing process. / A velhice ?? um desafio para todos e gra??as ?? evolu????o da ci??ncia h?? um crescimento da expectativa de vida em n??vel mundial. O envelhecimento provoca modifica????es em v??rios aspectos, que determinam maior fragilidade frente aos processos patol??gicos, tornando os indiv??duos mais suscet??veis ??s doen??as. Os cuidadores de pessoas idosas, formais ou informais, procuram destinar suas decis??es e procedimentos junto ao idoso que, quando portador de feridas cr??nicas, enfrenta um desafio maior. Os principais fatores que foram identificados nesta pesquisa mostram a influ??ncia que h?? na abordagem das feridas cr??nicas por cuidadores, e foram agrupadas em cinco ??reas (ou ambientes): fisiol??gico, psicossocial, econ??mico, pol??tico e espiritual. As feridas cr??nicas provocam mudan??as na vida da pessoa, que, a partir da patologia, sofre altera????es no seu padr??o e estilo de vida e passa a viver em fun????o de seu problema, abrindo m??o das coisas que mais gosta e das atividades que desempenhava. Al??m de envolver quest??es como a apar??ncia e limita????es, a doen??a tamb??m abala a "psique", devido ??s altera????es na autoimagem, vida afetiva e emocional. O presente estudo objetiva investigar como a religiosidade e a espiritualidade podem contribuir no enfrentamento das feridas cr??nicas. Trata-se de um estudo do tipo descritivo observacional, com delineamento transversal e abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa. Os resultados permitiram identificar que os idosos portadores de feridas cr??nicas, al??m de recorrem ?? ajuda m??dica, se valem da sua f?? em Deus em busca da cura e da melhoria da sua qualidade de vida. Os dados encontrados indicam a relev??ncia do estudo sobre os idosos possuidores de feridas cr??nicas, o cuidado m??dico humanizado e a import??ncia dada por este quanto aos aspectos religiosos e de f?? no processo de cura.
