Bartoňová, Iveta January 2011 (has links)
The aim of diploma thesis is the analysis of economic cycle in the car sector in the Czech Republic and the government's approach on this issue. I desribe the global economic and financial crisis in the years 2007 - 2010, which had impact on automotive industry, For comparison, I add approach by government abroad and development of automotive industry, mainly in Germany and the Slovak Republic. The first part consists of theoretical approaches of important economists of the economic cycle, the company in recession and the different approaches to structural policy. Individual approaches are different and unfortunately there is no uniform approach to effective solution of the crisis. The analytical part deals with the beginning of economic and financial crisis along with the impact on the production and sale of three automotive producers in the Czech Republic - Škoda auto a.s., TPCA, Hyundai Motor Czech s.r.o. This impact is compared with the consequences of the crisis at car manufacturers in Germany and the Slovak Republic. Finally comes the assessment of mainly interventionist approaches by governments in the Czech Republic and abroad. Through the efforts to alleviate the ongoing recession in the sector was being set up so-called scrap subsidy that had an impact on the industry in the Czech Republic, even though in our country was his introduction denied.

Empirical Essays on Contagion during the Global Financial Crisis / Essais empiriques sur la contagion durant la crise financière globale

Salloy, Suzanne 09 December 2013 (has links)
The objective of this thesis is the twofold: to assess, measure and analyze contagion effects to American and European banks during the global financial crisis of 2008-2009 and to study the financial channels that contributed to the spread of the crisis to G7 countries. Following a microeconomic approach of the definition of contagion, firstly, we test the hypothesis of “contagion” on stock markets using the event study methodology. Then, we qualify it as “pure contagion” or “rational contagion”. Secondly, we test the hypothesis of “contagion” versus “interdependence” on credit derivative market using the asymmetric dynamic conditional correlations models. Thirdly, we aim to answer a macroeconomic issue: which shock played the major role in spreading the crisis from U.S. to money and stock markets of G7 countries, the shock due to liquidity shortage or the shock due to the devaluation of financial assets? We use a Time-Varying Parameters Vector-Auto Regression methodology. Finally, we provide insights into the impact of Basel III regulation of banks capital, by focusing on banks contaminated during the global financial crisis.

Monetární politika americké centrální banky a reakce amerických akciových trhů v období po finanční krizi 2008 / Monetary policy of Federal reserve system and the reaction of American stock markets during financial crisis in 2008

Novotný, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The main aim of this final thesis is to analyze unconventional monetary policy of American central bank, which has been implemented during financial crisis in 2008. Fed used extremely accommodative monetary policy to restore interbank liquidity and to stimulate the real economy. In theoretical part of this thesis is examined the liquidity trap. The thesis describes transmission mechanism of transferring Fed measures to financial markets and real economy as well. Practical part of the thesis analyzes further steps of Federal reserve system, which have been implemented when key interest rates have already been lowered near the zero bound. The thesis is finished by the evaluation of these steps of American monetary authority and behavior of US stock market, which has been directly stimulated and is currently reaching its all-time highs.
