The present research aimed to understand the adherence of elderly people to practice physical activity at a gym in the city of Rio Grande / RS, frequented by them for more than ten years uninterrupted The study was understood from the perspective of the using oral sources as a tool under the oral thematic. For the purposes of analysis, we organize the two perspectives: the first step was to the experiences of the deponents with the systematized physical activities along the of life and the manner in which they arrived at the Center of Physical Activity Personalized (CAFP), gymnasium used as a space cutout; the second one addressed the elements that detail the motivations for stay of the elderly in the CAFP, encompassing questions of tastes, links and apparent difficulties to practice. Where similarities found among the interviewees, such as the longevity in the same activity, the option of practicing bodybuilding, the choice of and the stage of life that they chose to initiate it, it was possible to conclude that the adherence to physical activity does not follow universal formulas. Signs of distinction are operated through the motivational aspects that led to the practice of experiences prior to arrival at the CAFP and how they perform the sociability in this place.
