Semiotique du plaisir dans les Fleurs du mal

Cabello-Chauveau, Inti Jean-Christophe. January 2001 (has links)
This thesis is dedicated to a in depth study of the notion of pleasure such as it appears in Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. Focusing upon a very restraint core of poems, the analysis unfurls according to the methodic tools provided by Michael Riffaterre, literary theorician and critic, in his Semiotics of poetry. Basing myself on a shrewd selection of texts, number of which were almost completely left out by baudelairean studies, my goal was to highlight the semiotical span owned by the different illustrations of pleasure in our poet's work. Weaving significant threads, first between signs and then between the text and its intertextuality, I achieved a detailed and global canvas of pleasure's descriptive system as it underlies Les Fleurs du Mal. The analysis defines pleasure's expression as a dichotomic construction. First opposing itself to reality, then to illusion and then to danger and others, it eventually builds itself against the notion of grief through bipolarization, caught into an insolvable cycle overhung by its evanescence. Interpretation allows us to draw interesting perspectives concerning the poet's epistemological choices.

La flore et le paysage dans les images médiévales à l’époque des Valois : une écriture analogique / Flowers and landscape in the medieval images during the dynasty of the French Valois kings : An analogical way of writing

Deslandes, Nicole 28 June 2017 (has links)
At the end of the Middle Ages flowers are frequent in tapestries, manuscripts and paintings. The aim of this study is to prove they are not just decorative items but that they have their own function in images. These flowers, especially by means of their colours, make up a symbolical system aiming at guiding the reader to understand the inner sense of symbolical images. This special way of composing images is concomitant with a new way of praying God, the Devotio Moderna, under the supervision of preachers, especially the Dominicans. The image-makers also use these new patterns to picture the French Valois kings in order to assert their alleged special relationship with God. The study of this symbolical system, contents and structure, enable us to understand better the particular medieval way of thinking the world.

La thématique du désir proustien ou le décodage d'une métaphor /

Berrouard, Sylvie January 1990 (has links)
This thesis is a psychoanalytical study of the novel A l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs. It is specifically concerned with identifying the subconscious mechanisms that engage the creative process in the Proustian hero. / The main character's belligerent relations with the real world augment his passivity and sense of powerlessness. As the story unfolds, the young Marcel's desirous nature is expressed though his private fantasy world, providing a revealing glimpse of the great literary works to come. / The character's sado-masochistic and oedipal tendencies act as a catalyst for his creative energies, leading him to use his pen, as the ultimate instrument of his brilliant revenge on the cruel realities of life. / The young Proustian protagonist's literary project is above all a magnificent attempt at domination that achieves the perfect metaphorical transposition, in the true sense of the word, i.e. transporting language into the all-powerful kingdom of creation.
