Expansion on the Domestic Market for Fresh Products, A Freight Forwarder’s Perspective. The Case of Schenker Arkas

Wigsten, Sebastian, Mihailenco, Alexandru January 2012 (has links)
Increasing competition on a global scale is forcing companies to rethink their strategiesconcerning their supply chains, launch new products and services, increase customer serviceoriented activities. When launching a new product on a new or an existing market it is crucial toestimate the market potential. The market for fast consumer goods is one of the mostdemanding markets globally and requires special attention from the logistic service providers. There is a lack of theoretical material written on this topic for starting practitioners and forexperienced specialists. Hence we try in this thesis to shed light on what the necessaryprerequisites that a freight forwarder ought to consider when launching a new product in thecategory of fast moving consumer goods, hereafter named “Fresh” products. Schenker Arkasprovides a good example for building a theoretical framework around their case due to theTurkey’s strategic position in the region and the ideal climate for “Fresh” products market. From empirical findings we can conclude that Turkish exports is experiencing a strong growth,in particular “Fresh” products which is growing at a higher rate that the total. For freightforwarders there is a great opportunity capitalize on the steady growth in “Fresh” exports butto completely take advantage of growth it is essential that freight forwarders convincecustomers of the value they bring by participating in the supply chain.

Šrámková, Eva January 2011 (has links)
International Commercial Terms have been applied in the international trade for more than 70 years. The aim of the master thesis is to analyze the application of INCOTERMS in container transportation which was secured by a forwarder. The first chapter describes the role of maritime transport in the international trade, emphasizes container transportation and its development and describes cooperation of the subjects on the field of international trasport (mainly the activities of forwarder). The second chapter contains the describtion of the individual INCOTERMS and their newest version INCOTREMS 2010, their role in the international trade and describes rights and obligations of buyer and seller. It aims at the newest terms DAP a DAT and deals with the factors which influence the choice of suitable term. The third chapter provides statistical data and tries to reveal the reason why buyer and seller choose a particular term.

Slutväxel HFT : Konstruktionskoncept för banddriven skotare / Powertrain module HFT : Conceptual construction for tracked forwarder

Johansson, Daniel January 2013 (has links)

What liability do freight forwarders have for trademark infringement in forwarded goods? : Focussed specifically on Swedish national rules in multimodal transport

Allgurén, Klara January 2010 (has links)
In September 2008, a consignment of pirated batteries, which were marked with Panasonic’s trademark, were retained by Swedish Customs. Panasonic sent a warning letter to the freight forwarding company, Tavatur, demanding it to destroy the batteries through the simplified procedure in (EC) No 1383/2003. However, since Sweden has not implemented the simplified procedure, Tavatur was unable to destroy the batteries without a court order from Sweden. Panasonic therefore sued Tavatur, the legal dispute being what liability freight forwarders have for pirated goods. Due to technical developments within different modes of transport, freight forwarders’ role has changed over the last few decades, from simple duties where the freight forwarder held an intermediary position, to a more independent role in which they now have to be legally classified as either a carrier or an agent. Unfortunately, legal development within multimodal transport has failed to keep pace with the speed of technical development. Bills of Lading, for example, have historically been working as receipts, but due to modern packing techniques, they have lost the normal evidence function they once had. Although there are some international regulations concerning freight forwarding services, they do not extend beyond the countries in which such conditions are used. When a dispute occurs between transport operators, which follow different regulations, the liability of the freight forwarders is unclear. Therefore, freight forwarders are in the need of harmonised legislation, especially concerning their liability for trademark infringements. Nonetheless, there are ways in which freight forwarder can avoid these disputes with right-holders, namely; by protecting themselves with legal cost insurance and via establish their liability through the use of contracts. However, Sweden and other Member States, which have not implemented the simplified procedure, should reconsider an implementation of it.

The Study of the Relationship among Service Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Customer Loyalty ¡V the Case of Airfreight Forwarding Industry in Taiwan.

Cheng, Feng-yao 12 August 2009 (has links)
Since Taiwan joined the WTO in 2002, the market has been gradually deregulated because of the impact of globalization. Take the airfreights forwarding industry as an example, due to the low entry threshold in Taiwan, the foreign investors has been adjusting their business operating strategy by taking Taiwan as a pre-enter step before investing China¡¦s market. The foreign investors are capturing the Asia Pacific Region¡¦s market distinctly with their strong funds and globalized information platform, which severely threatens the local enterprise. Therefore, to adjust operating strategy, to position the market and to promote competitive ability become the crucial tasks for local airfrights forwarding industry. The key element for obtaining customer¡¦s satisfaction and loyalty is to improve our service quality. This research takes airfreight forwarding industry as an object to explore how service quality influences customer satisfaction and enhances customer loyalty, which will further make business more profitable and even more valuable. Collecting and analyzing the related documents construct the primary structure of this research. The hypotheses and questionnaires are analyzed through SPSS statistical methods- reliability analysis, canonical correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research has demonstrated: 1.The service quality has positive influence on the customer satisfaction 2.The customer satisfaction has positive influence on the customer loyalty 3.The service quality has positive influence on the customer loyalty

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Ci?ncia Florestal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2013. / ABSTRACT The objective of the development of this research, determine the strip of adequate secondary roads, to minimize the production cost of the wood through the rationalization of binomio roads/forest extraction. Data were collected in areas to forest harvesting belonging to a cellulose producer company, located in the municipalities of Guanh?es and Sabin?polis, MG, during the month of September 2012.We evaluated 10 operators of Forwarder and of these, two working on the project ?Cheerful Waterfall?, wood 6 meter without bark (Guanh?es), four in the project ?Cheerful Waterfall? wood 3 meter with bark (Guanh?es) and four the project ?Shallow Water?, wood 6 meter without bark (Sabin?polis). For comparisons between projects and between the type of system (short log, wood 6 meter without bark and wood 3 meter with bark) used the average of the values ??found, and these were compared to values ??determined by other authors who worked with the same harvest systems and similar machines, well as areas / stands distinct. Main information raised it is refer to times of the operations (cycle total, loading, displacement with and without charge, discharging), distances (with and without charge) and average speed (with and without charge), desenvolvidas by Forwarder, being determined later operational efficiency of the machines, the optimal density of roads DOE, the average distance extraction (DME) and related costs (roads, extraction and loss of productive area). For the previous variables obtained before projects studied was verified by means of Student's t test if there was a statistical difference between the mean values??. The loading and unloading of logs with the Forwarder were the variables of operating cycle the extraction who consumed more time. The operating yields of extraction the wood were considered high, even compared to other studies in flat areas. The project "AR" which was showed the lower cost of extraction and the best DOE and DME. The strip of road 7 meters was considered appropriate more of viewpoint technical, economic and safety at work, corresponding to a reduction of average cost per hectare for the projects studied at $ 17.99, compared to wide of 8 meters adopted by the Company. In this context, there is an overall gain estimated R $ 125,930.00 / year, considering an annual cut of 7,000 hectares of eucalyptus, to meet the demand for wood the Company.
