Pesquisa de fungos leveduriformes em aves de rapina procedentes de centros de reabilitação

For this study, 32 birds of prey were used, proceeding from two rehabilitation centers located in Pernambuco and Espírito Santo States, Brazil. Samples were collected from oral cavity and tracheae by using swabs and sent to laboratory at room temperature. At the laboratory, samples were sowed in dextrose Sabouraud agar increased of chloranfenicol (100 mg·L-1) and incubated in aerobiosis at room temperature for a minimum period of seven days and maximum of 15 days. Yeasts were identified according to macroscopic and microscopic characteristic and biochemical parameters. From a total amount of 64 analyzed samples, it was observed that 15 (23.4%) of them were positive for yeast presence, and out of this, 14 (93.3%) were isolated from the oral cavity and only one (6.7%) from the tracheae, and the identified species were: Candida albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicallis, C. magnoliae, Candida sp. and Trichosporoncutaneum. The isolation and identification of yeasts in birds of prey are epidemiologically important for a better understanding of pathological processes in the oral cavity and trachea of the studied species since knowing the fungi in these species enables the prevention of diseases caused by opportunistic agents. Stressful situations in the rooms in rehabilitation centers must be avoided in order to reduce the risks of diseases caused by these fungi. This is the first report in the national literature about the isolation of yeasts in birds of prey. / Tendo em vista a importância do estudo da microbiota para compreensão dos fungos como potenciais causadores de doenças, objetivou-se com o presente estudo isolar e identificar leveduras da cavidade oral e da traquéia de aves de rapina. Foram utilizadas para este estudo 32 aves de rapina procedentes de dois centros de reabilitação localizados no Estado de Pernambuco e Espírito Santo, Brasil. As amostras foram coletadas da cavidade oral e traquéia utilizando-se swabs e enviadas ao laboratório à temperatura ambiente. No laboratório as amostras foram semeadas em ágar Sabouraud dextrose acrescido de cloranfenicol (100mg/L) e incubadas em aerobiose e temperatura ambiente por um período mínimo de sete dias e máximo de 15 dias. As leveduras foram identificadas de acordo com as características macroscópicas, microscópicas e parâmetros bioquímicos. Das 64 amostras analisadas observou-se que 15 (23,4%) foram positivas para presença de leveduras, sendo que 14 (93,3%) foram isoladas da cavidade oral e apenas uma (6,7%) da traquéia, tendo sido identificadas: Candida albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicallis, C. magnoliae, Candida sp. e Trichosporon cutaneum. O isolamento e a identificação de leveduras em aves de rapina possuem uma importância epidemiológica expressiva para o melhor entendimento dos processos patológicos da cavidade oral e traquéia das espécies estudadas, uma vez que o conhecimento desses fungos nestas espécies permite a prevenção de doenças oportunistas causadas por estes agentes. Situações de estresse nos recintos dos centros de reabilitação devem ser evitadas para reduzir os riscos da ocorrência de doenças causadas por estes fungos. Este é o primeiro relato na literatura nacional sobre o isolamento de leveduras em aves de rapina.
