The didactic model is an object descriptive that evidence the dimensions of a teachable genre. Its construction is only one step of a wider proposal on working with the teaching of genres and aims at the development of teaching sequences, arranged according to the link made between the genre, its characteristics and capabilities teachable of language (ability to action, discursive and linguistic-discursive) that learners are expected to develop. To achieve our goal, we sought to answer two questions: a) What are the defining characteristics of radio journalism comment? b) What are the characteristics of this genres teachable? This study initially presents the theoretical assumptions of sociodiscursive interactionism (BRONCKART, ss 1999/2007), the assumptions of the same order that address issues of didactic teaching of genres (DOLZ, 1995; SCHNEUWLY, 1998; DOLZ & SCHNEUWLY, 2004) and studies in the area of Journalism and Radiojornalism (MELO, 2003; BARBOSA, 2005, BARBEIRO & LIMA, 2003, among others). The corpus consists of texts of the Official Program of the Morning Service and Official of Issuing Radio Jovem Pan AM from São Paulo / SP. The analysis procedures focus on the production conditions of these texts and the architecture, surrounding the organization, the mechanisms and the mechanisms textualization. With the analysis results, we see the importance of production conditions for the formation of texts belonging to the genre radio journalistic comment, identify the defining characteristics of this genre, develop the teaching model and suggest some activities for developing a didactic sequence / O objetivo desta pesquisa é identificar as características definidoras do gênero comentário jornalístico radiofônico com a finalidade de construir o modelo didático desse gênero, a partir do qual propomos possíveis atividades que podem possibilitar o desenvolvimento de capacidades de linguagem para a produção de textos pertencentes a esse gênero.

Investigating approaches to the teaching of writing in english as a second language in senior phase classrooms in the western cape

Caroline Modupe, Akinyeye January 2012 (has links)
Magister Educationis - MEd / South Africa in the past-apartheid era has undergone a series of curriculum changes that collectively have not yet yielded the desired results. Evidence of this is to be found in the continued low pass rates and poor performance in the annual National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) examinations, including the subject English as a First Additional Language (EFAL). Apart from language policy considerations, reasons related to the teaching approach used in EFAL may have a bearing on the results. The Revised National Curriculum Statement (RNCS) recommends the use of a text-(genre) approach, alongside a communicative approach, to the teaching of languages in schools to replace the old content-based methods with their aims and objectives. While the old curriculum did advocate communicative language teaching, the addition is a text-based approach. This study focuses on investigating the various approaches teachers employ in the teaching of English writing and specifically seeks to identify the extent to which a text-based approach is realized in the teaching of EFAL in Grade 9 in two schools in the Western Cape. The study does so, amongst other ways, by analysing the various texts learners are exposed to in English lessons and taking note of how teachers introduce and negotiate the different stages of writing. This study uses genre theory and Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) in combination with social constructivist approaches to language learning. This theory is based on the premise that language is functional and cannot be detached from the social context of the learner.A qualitative research paradigm is used and the study is underpinned by interpretive theory.According to Richards (2003), qualitative research is the study of human action in its natural setting in the context of people’s daily lives. In this case the school classroom has to function as the natural setting. The qualitative data collection instruments for this study include interviews,(particularly open-ended interviews), classroom observation schedules and audio recordings. The teaching processes in the classroom and interview sessions are recorded. The research participants for this study were two qualified English teachers. Secondly, samples of notebooks including class exercises of a selected numbers of learners of English Language in Grade 9 were collected for analysis with regard to the implementation of a text-based approach. The findings revolve round the themes derived from the analysis chapter, and are expected to provide ways of promoting the teaching of English using this approach. They reveal that the teachers in this study do not have sufficient understanding of the theories that underpin the teaching of writing in the English FAL curriculum. They attend to the use of text-based approach superficially but they apply other teaching strategies in their lessons during the teaching of English as a first additional language. The study concludes by summing up the main findings, and by spelling out some implications for further research.

Krette Júnior, Wilson 13 December 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-15T19:46:53Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Wilson Kret.pdf: 691525 bytes, checksum: 97dbc3d2b44311f7ae1c0f3053c6cfa8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-12-13 / This thesis attempts to study the Gonzo Journalism in Brazil. The purpose is to analyse the reportage published by Trip magazine, which is an example of this journalistic genre, as well as to explore linguistic and speech procedures. Firstly, the work tries to review shortly, based on specialised bibliography, the linguistics development until the Speech Analysis School. The aim is to offer a brief but necessary base of theory to the reader. The essay presents the concepts and a historic trajectory of the three following speech genre of journalism: Literary Journalism, New Journalism and Gonzo Journalism. The corpus will be analised from the perspectives of genre and textual elements that are typical of Gonzo Journalism. It means to observe thematic and structural components. Hence, the chosen theories are the speech analysis of French School and the genre study proposed by the Russian critic Mikhail Bakhtin (1895-1975). The study's main concern is to study the genre concept in order to categorize the journalistic corpus. The research is focused on Gonzo Journalism, since it analyses two selected news reporting published in 2005 and 2006. However, it was necessary to present the other journalistic genres with the aim of verify their fluid character, contributions and influences. Besides, the work deals with the types of support and the development of the adopted magazine, regarding the international context. Created in 1986, Trip is recognized, in Brazil, due to the space dedicated to Gonzo reportage. It is considered alternative, contemporary and it became an editorial phenomenon between young and influent people. The magazine has today 187 thousand readers. Despite the vast critic works produced in the last years about speech analysis, this thesis supports that this reportage style is undervalued by the academia. Therefore, the major bulk is to contribute to Gonzo Journalism studies, as soon as to reveal its importance, originality and specificity. Tal processo implica observar elementos temáticos e estruturais.
