The study to the valorization of experience from individual or from the group consisted of humanist approach of Geography having the phenomenology as underlying philosophy. The theorical formulations manifested from ideas whole, detaching the effort to discipline the use at least these concepts: landscape, space, place and environment. Opposite the importance of knowing the interelation manenvironment, we insert more two concepts: topofilia (felling joins people to the place where they lives) and topophobia, because our preoccupations in the ambit of evironmental question, immediate to the human beings. The research had been developed from interview and percepition workshop, when the interviewed people answered about they understand what are environiment and Areado's environment. The gotten results allow a reflection about the evironmental thought thinking found there, constituting in subsidy to programs of evironmental education that be worried about local problems / O objetivo desta pesquisa ? conhecer a consci?ncia, a sensibilidade e a vis?o de interatua??o homem-ambiente de parte dos moradores da Favela do Areado, suas atitudes e motiva??es para se relacionar individual e coletivamente com seu espa?o, visando resgatar as diferen?as e compar?-las em rela??o ao olhar cient?fico. O estudo para a valoriza??o da experi?ncia do indiv?duo ou do grupo constou de uma abordagem human?stica da Geografia, tendo a fenomenologia como filosofia subjacente. As formula??es te?ricas manifestaram-se a partir de um conjunto de conceitos, destacando-se o esfor?o em disciplinar o uso de pelo menos quatro desses conceitos: paisagem, espa?o, lugar e ambiente. Frente ? import?ncia de se conhecer a inter-rela??o homem-ambiente, inserimos mais dois conceitos: topofilia e topofobia, em raz?o das nossas preocupa??es no ?mbito da quest?o ambiental, imediata ao ser humano. As pesquisas foram desenvolvidas a partir de entrevistas e oficinas de percep??o, quando os entrevistados responderam sobre o que entendem o que sejam meio ambiente e meio ambiente no Areado. Os resultados obtidos permitem uma reflex?o sobre o pensamento ambiental ali encontrado, constituindo-se em subs?dio para programas de educa??o ambiental que se voltem para os problemas locais
