O impacto conjunto do empreendedorismo e das redes interorganizacionais sobre o desenvolvimento de inovações globais: evidências das subsidiárias estrangeiras operando no país / Risk options as a tool for managing risks of complex information technology insfrastructure projects

Costa, Sidney 30 March 2016 (has links)
The subsidiaries of multinational corporations are under pressure from internal and external environment. These opportunities may be a product or new or substantially improved process in which the subsidiary had the help of a partner network in which it operates. In particular, this research analyzes the locally developed innovations (within the host country) through subsidiaries established in the country, these innovations are likely to be transferred to their headquarters and then used by other subsidiaries around the world, becoming global innovations. The main focus of this study is to understand the influence of entrepreneurship and business networks on the development and transfer of these innovations. Thus, the present study analyzes a sample of 172 foreign subsidiaries operating in Brazil, which was modeled using the technique of structural equation for the test case, measurement of the mediating effect and multi-groups comparison to assess the moderating effect regarding the size of the subsidiaries. The results suggest that entrepreneurship subsidiary has significant influence on the development of partnerships and consequent rooting subsidiary network of emerging market companies that rooting is a determining factor for the development of innovations in the subsidiary which can be transferred to the headquarter and become global innovation. From these results, the research contributes to a better understanding of the innovation drivers in subsidiaries and deepen the discussion on the development of global innovations, particularly those from emerging markets.

Comparisons were made between different theoretical references on the process of global innovation, open innovation and the relationship between them, to be applied in the three selected premium companies belonging to the Fashion Industry of Brazil, located in the city of São Paulo. For this, fifteen employees were interviewed, whose functions involve the development of collections of these companies. The research objectives were to propose a framework disaggregating the steps in the geographic and proprietary scopes; Identify the innovation process that can be adopted in multinational strategies; And which are the proprietary and geographic scopes of the process steps. The methodological approach is the qualitative one, the method is the one of case study and the technique of treatment of data was the analysis of content. It was found that the process occurs in a disaggregated way between its stages, there is independence of performance in the geographic and proprietary scopes, but, at different intensity, open innovation was more found than global innovation. And, the practice of open innovation does not influence the use of global innovation.

The theoretical framework that underpinned the thesis was the resource-based view in international business and the OLI paradigm reflected in the discussion of the organizational capacities of foreign subsidiaries. The quantitative survey was conducted in April 2017 with foreign subsidiaries operating in Brazil. A total of 289 valid responses were received from various segments: industry, commerce and services. To test the model, multiple regression techniques were applied using the PLS (Partial Least Squares) system. The results confirm that Ambidexterity is associated with NLBFSA formation indirectly. Ambidexterity leads to local capacity building, in the form of LB-FSAs (Located Bound - Firm Specific Advantages). Subsidiaries with LB-FSAs present greater competitiveness, which in turn enables the subsidiary to transfer knowledge in the form of NLB-FSAs for the multinational's network. In theoretical terms, this research strengthens the RBV - Resource Based View and Dunning’s OLI theory (1980), more specifically, Ownership and Internalization, whereby through the ownership and exploitation of its resources abroad, MNEs develop and internalized capabilities, in the form of NLB-FSAs, from emerging markets. Regarding to the studies on Ambidexterity, the thesis shows that ambidextrous companies develop NLB-FSAs from the LB-FSAs capabilities that allow the improvement of Competitiveness. Additionally, it fulfills a gap in the studies on Ambidexterity since there are no studies on the impact of Ambidexterity on the formation of organizational capacities, LB-FSAs and NLB-FSAs in subsidiaries of multinational companies operating in Brazil. In terms of contribution to management, it supports in the definition of the strategic management model of multinationals, since, by using ambidextrous strategies, it enables the development of competitive organizational capacities from an emerging country.

Cashless society: Is there a relationship between innovation and cash circulation in economy?

Glennow, Emma, Granström, Alexandra January 2019 (has links)
Around the globe, countries move away from banknotes and coins in the favor of digitized payments. A number of findings from academic research conclude various benefits associated with decreased cash usage, such as enhanced economic development, less costs for governments and banks, financial transparency as well as lower economic-related crime rates. In a light of various benefits moving towards cashless payments, it is hypothesized that there also could be a relationship between how innovative a country is and how much cash circulates in economy. The relationship could be both-sided like less cash circulation can trigger innovation and, at the same time, adoption of cashless payments could be driven by how innovative a country is. To be able to investigate a potential correlation, a correlation analysis is conducted between the two variables: an innovation level of a country and cash circulation in econom. The Global Innovation Index score will be used to summarize various factors that provide an overview of national innovation performance, and percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be used for currency in circulation. According to the findings, the hypothesis that there is a correlation between cash circulation and innovation performance in a country could not be rejected with a 5% significance level.

Thus, the general objective of the dissertation was to understand how the positioning and the relationship of the stakeholders guide the strategies of implementation of innovations in services. In order to do so, it was analyzed, as research object, the implementation of innovation in services in the Brazilian pharmaceutical retail. A descriptive exploratory qualitative research was conducted with a single case study method with intracausal analysis of the Pague Menos Pharmacies Network, with structured field interviews and the Focus Group. Next, it was categorized for Stakeholder analysis: Strategy of Positioning and Relationship Approach to carry out the data collection. In the first. In the data collection stage, field interviews were conducted with highlevel hierarchical stakeholders, CEOs, CIOs and specialized managers in the pharmaceutical and health market. A Focus Group was held with consumers who attend pharmacies and drugstores, but are unaware of what differentiated pharmaceutical services are. Participation in the Abrafarma Future Trends 2016 Event provided observational interviews with entity and government (Anvisa). The data collection period occurred between August and November 2016. As an academic contribution, what was sought in this study was to bring the Stakeholders Theory applied to innovation, service innovation and business model innovation to respond as the stakeholder (Freeman, 1984) and strategic relationship matrix (Frooman, 1999, 2002) that identified the interests, the potential of Power and threat potential of stakeholders. The study was able to demonstrate the strategy adopted by stakeholders the retail network, whether it is supported, partially supported or unsupported. As a managerial contribution, we sought to answer the questions Carrol and Buchholtz (2000) establish for an organization to orient itself in the development of actions with stakeholders.

Accelerating Global Product Innovation through Cross-cultural Collaboration : Organizational Mechanisms that Influence Knowledge-sharing within the MNC

Jensen, Karina 04 June 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Globalization, time to market, and customer responsiveness present continuous challenges for achieving market innovation across cultures. A cross-cultural and networked business environment has created increased demand for knowledge-sharing within the multinational corporation (MNC). The inability of geographically distributed team members to effectively share and communicate ideas and solutions can result in a lack of product innovation, delayed product introductions, and reduced sales and market opportunities. This requires managers to leverage cross-cultural team knowledge in order to improve the design and delivery of innovative customer solutions worldwide. This dissertation thus intends to examine and identify organizational mechanisms that facilitate cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge-sharing for geographically distributed teams responsible for the front end of innovation. The resource-based and knowledge-based views of the firm inform this dissertation where integrated cognitive and social practices serve an important role for innovation. Through qualitative research, I will examine organizational mechanisms that influence interactions between the project leader and the geographically distributed team during global product launches, from product concept to market introduction. Since there is a lack of empirical research conducted with organizations on cross-cultural collaboration and global innovation, there is a significant opportunity to advance research within innovation management while assisting organizations in the development of knowledge-sharing capabilities that serve as competitive advantage in conceiving and introducing new products to international markets. The purpose of this dissertation research is to investigate and demonstrate how MNCs can facilitate the cross-cultural collaboration process in order to effectively conceive and execute innovation strategies for new products. The research intends to develop a framework and model for cross-cultural team collaboration in exploring and responding to the following research question: How can MNCs optimize cross-cultural team collaboration in order to strengthen the planning and execution of global innovation strategies? This research responds to organizational needs for sharing knowledge amongst cross-cultural teams in order to accelerate responsiveness to international market opportunities.

Accelerating Global Product Innovation through Cross-cultural Collaboration : Organizational Mechanisms that Influence Knowledge-sharing within the MNC / L’innovation globale et la collaboration interculturelle : les mécanismes organisationnels qui déterminent le partage du savoir dans les entreprises multinationales

Jensen, Karina 04 June 2012 (has links)
Globalization, time to market, and customer responsiveness present continuous challenges for achieving market innovation across cultures.
