Σταυρογιαννοπούλου, Ευθυμία 24 October 2012 (has links)
The present work focuses on the approach of short stories contained in the Texts of Modern Greek Literature taught at the first class of the Greek High School. This approach is based on the “structuralist version” of the Reader-Response Theory and, specifically, on the theory of the French semiologist/narratologist Claude Bremond. An effort has been made to show the connection between Narratology and the interpretation of texts taught at the Greek High School. The work consists of two parts. In the first chapter of the first part the research problems, the objectives and the used methodology are analyzed. In the second chapter, Bremond’s theoretical model for the analysis of all kinds of narrating texts is examined thoroughly. The basic concepts of his model are the roles of the agents, the roles of the patients and the processes, which are connected with each other as well as with the roles. The second part includes the analysis of the Literature material, which consists of ten short stories, using the theoretical tool. Finally, having in mind these particular short stories, certain suggestions for the educational use of Bremond’s model at the Greek High School are made.

Sendo homem: a guerra no romance grego / Being a man: war in the Greek novel

Lucia Sano 23 October 2013 (has links)
War episodes are conventional in the structure of the Greek novel. As a fundamental aspect of the Greek culture, the war theme not only allows the authors to explore intertextual relations between this new genre and the literary tradition (especially epic poetry and historiography), but it also provides means to establish ideals of masculinity. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to investigate the war episodes in the novels of Chariton of Aphrodisias, Longus and Heliodoros, considering the representation of aspects such as andreia (bravery, masculinity), self-control (sophrosyne) and violence of the male characters. I suggest that it is possible to argue that these narratives favor the control of anger and violence over martial prowess and the use of force as a manifestation of andreia, thus revealing a conception of heroism more akin to the cultural context in which they were produced.

Desgraça e felicidade como consequências de ações marginais / Disgrace and happiness as consequences of marginal actions

Cristina de Souza Agostini 04 June 2013 (has links)
Through an analysis of the actions of two heroes present in plays from the Ancient Attic drama, this work draws a comparison between the construction of two types of marginal behavior, as well as between the different consequences resulting from these behaviors. In this sense, following the characterization of the marginality of Hippolytus, the homonymous hero of Euripides tragedy, I shall demonstrate how the young mans choice for virginity is intrinsically related to the disgraceful consequences that befall Theseuss house. In fact, I consider that because Hippolytus deliberately chooses (i.e. without physical or mental coercion) to live outside his dramatic community refusing its customs, he is completely responsible for Aphrodites revenge, which ruins his family. In the same way, by delimiting the marginal attitude of Dikaiopolis, from Aristophanes comedy, Acharnians, I shall elucidate the manner in which the characters choice for private peace, transgressive of the majoritys decisions for the continuity of the war, is followed by ethylic, sexual and gastronomic consequences he is faced with. Hence, the aim of this thesis is the intertwining of the way Hippolytus is disgraceful because of his marginal actions and the reason why Dikaiopolis is happy thanks to this very marginality. And, lastly, I intend to cast light upon the ways by which both the tragedy and comedys characters are responsible for whatever they reap from their marginal ways of life.

Ritmo e sonoridade na poesia grega antiga: uma tradução comentada de 23 poemas / Rhythm and sonority in ancient Greek poetry: an annotated translation of 23 poems

Carlos Leonardo Bonturim Antunes 24 April 2009 (has links)
This work is comprised of a translation, followed up by a commentary, of twenty-three greek poems from the Classical and Archaic periods. The translation was carried out with a view to recreate the rhythm and sound of the original texts, without, however, allowing it to stray too far from the meaning, lest it would become a free recreation. The main work is introduced by a brief study regarding rhythm and sound, both in greek literature and in general terms.
