This is due to the important role played in morbi-mortality of the world population and in Brazil. Among these diseases are chronic renal failure, which translates into a series of changes in workers' lives and is in evidence today. Users on dialysis are deprived in many situations and activities that interfere with their quality of life, despite the technological advances of hemodialysis. This study aims to evaluate the social impact of the process of hemodialysis on workers with chronic renal failure. The methodology employed is the exploratory research, using semistructured interviews with 6 (six) patients on hemodialysis, both sexes, aged from 20 to 45 years in the early period of treatment. The study has both quantitative and qualitative elements, with data obtained by the documental analysis and uses as a basis theoretical orientation of the historic- dialectical materialism. The expected results give visibility to expressions of social issues involved in the process of health and illness of the patient in hemodialysis, deciphering the reality, expanding knowledge in the field of work and its peculiarities, where the impact is a paradox, because on one side are presents the symptom relief of the disease and survival and, secondly, the dependence on treatment, restrictions and reflections that affect the user's life and his family, generated by an economic system that violates the rights of health of the working class

Previous issue date: 2009-11-12 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The process of becoming the main caregiver of the renal chronic hemodialysis
patient was pursued by means of a qualitative investigation, which was made upon
the results got from 8 female, adult participants above 19 years old, who were
family bounds to the patients and to who were in charge of taking care of them.
The main caregiver remains invisible to the public politics, for there are not any
programs that cover such audience in Brazil. Private initiatives try to provide the
creation of support groups; however, there are not enough groups to cover such a
huge demand for them. The data have been collected by means of a semistructured
interview containing questions that were shaped according to the
validated version of the Burden Interview scale (SCAZUFCA, 2002) and of the
Maslach s Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MASLACH & LEITER,
1997), in a Brazilian validated version (CARLOTTO & CÂMARA, 2007). The
analysis of those data was made based on the Attachment Theory by John
Bowlby, and it shows that there is a great positive impact (such as daily routine,
health, social common family living, job, finance), as well as a subjective impact
(mental stress) acting upon the life of the caregiver. Besides, the burnout
syndrome might be considered as a helpful diagnosis for the set of symptoms
reported by the main caregiver of the renal chronic patient. Further studies are
necessary in order to increase the knowledge concerning the burnout syndrome
on the caregivers of renal chronic patients, for each disease demands proper,
biológicos e a principal responsabilidade do cuidado.
no Brasil. As iniciativas privadas buscam promover a criação de grupos de apoio;
Services Survey (MASLACH & LEITER, 1997), versão brasileira validada
encontrados no cuidador principal do paciente renal crônico.
do cuidado

Previous issue date: 2008-10-14 / Chronic renal disease and hemodialysis treatment imposes a big strain and series of limitations to the patient, with regard of the biological, sociological, and psychological perspectives. In this context, practical intervention of the social work is of great need and relevance. The research objective was the understanding of the social modifications in the lifestyle of chronic renal disease patients submitted to hemodialysis treatment from the patient's most significative experiences and introspective reflections about the illness and it's treatment. From our experience and the results obtained from the present investigation, some remarkable aspects are: the public health policies contribution aimed to patients with chronic renal disease, such as rights assurance, based on ANVISA's RDC-154 (2004); the knowledge correlated to the social stigma and to the discriminatory process imposed by the illness-related segregation; the importance of the actuation of the Social Services with the chronic renal patients submitted to hemodialysis, through the Professional Mediation. The methodology used was video recorded Focus Groups. The objective was to understand how the chronic renal patients submitted to hemodialysis experience the treatment and the most significative difficulties during the sickening process. Some empirical categories emerged from the process, such as Disease, Family, Kidney Transplant, Health Teams, Multidisciplinary Team. Willing to discuss the profession essence, we evolved a reflexion based on the emerged categories / A doença renal crônica e o tratamento de hemodiálise impõem ao
Neste contexto, a
significativas no processo do adoecimento.
