Abstrakt   Titel: En studie över hur den anställdes medvetenhet, förståelse och engagemang påverkar kundnöjdheten.   Nivå: C-uppsats i ämnet företagsekonomi med inriktning mot fastighetsförmedling   Författare: Emma Rydfjäll & Kimberly Pändel Lehn   Handledare: Lars-Johan Åge   Datum: 2013-maj   Syfte/bakgrund: Den interna marknadsföringen har blivit allt viktigare. Studier har visat att företag genom sin interna marknadsföring ska uppnå sitt varumärkes mål genom att behandla sina anställda som interna kunder. De som är nöjda med sin tillvaro på arbetet har större möjlighet att leverera ett högt värde till kunden. Ghose (2009) har tagit fram en modell som fokuserar på de anställda och deras möjlighet att leverera varumärkets löfte. Denna modell har som syfte att mäta den anställdas medvetenhet, förståelse och engagemang i ett företags varumärke. Ghose menar att desto högre medvetenhet, förståelse och engagemang desto högre inblick har den anställda i företagets varumärke, detta leder till en högre kundnöjdhet. Syftet med detta arbete är att utreda hållbarheten i hypotesen att desto högre medvetenhet, förståelse och engagemang de anställda har i ett företags varumärke desto högre kundnöjdheten.   Metod: För att utreda hållbarheten i hypotesen baseras uppsatsen på en kvantitativ metod där data har samlats in genom en enkätundersökning. Data har analyserats manuellt genom användning av olika tabeller och statistiskt genom Point Biserial Correlation.   Reslutat & Slutsats: Efter att ha utrett orsakssambandet i hypotesen visar resultatet att modellen Internal Brand Proprietor, IBP, är hållbar.   Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Vårt förslag till framtida forskning är att genomföra denna empiriska undersökning inom en annan bransch. En sådan studie skulle innebära att resultatets tillförlitlighet och generaliserbarhet stärks.   Uppsatsens bidrag: Bidraget med uppsatsen är beviset på IBP-modellens hållbarhet. Another relevant factor in the study presented here was the methodology used, which through statistical analysis aimed to evaluate the interaction between the social and environmental component and the temporal variation of the HDI and its components. Initially normality tests were applied between the data collected later multiple regression testing and type stepwise refinement of data for a better situation results. It was realized that the social and environmental indices do not interfere, only the social index was correlated with its own components, showing a significant and balanced development in the basin, and it was not environmentally found. / O presente estudo buscou avaliar a qualidade ambiental da bacia do Rio Meia Ponte relacionando um índice socioeconômico, o Índice Desenvolvimento Humano - IDH) e seus componentes considerando os anos de 1991, 2000 e 2010 ao Índice Baseado em Peixe (IBP) calculado de quatro maneias diferentes (IBP1, IBP2, IBP3 e IBP4). Outro fator de relevância no estudo ora apresentado foi a metodologia utilizada, que através de análises estatísticas buscou avaliar a interação entre o componente social e ambiental e a variação temporal do IDH e seus componentes. Inicialmente foram aplicados testes de normalidade entre os dados coletados, posteriormente testes de regressão múltipla tipo stepwise e refinamento dos dados para uma melhor conjuntura dos resultados. Foi percebido que os índices social e ambiental não apresentaram interação, apenas o índice social apresentou relação com seus próprios componentes, evidenciando um desenvolvimento significativo e equilibrado na bacia, sendo que o mesmo não foi constatado ambientalmente.

COWBOY CAPITALISM AND THE IBP REVOLUTION: HOW THE MEATPACKING INDUSTRY CHANGED AMERICA, 1960-1990

<p>This dissertation examines the rise of the country’s largest beef processor, IBP, Inc., during the late-twentieth century and its effect on laborers, farmers, business, and the communities in which it operated. Though scholars have cited IBP’s technological advances as the reason for the company’s success, I argue that IBP’s unique public relations approach that manufactured the consent of local communities to pay comparatively low wages, provide tax breaks, and in the instance of cattle producers defend IBP’s right to “free enterprise,” provided it with a competitive advantage. From 1960 through the 1980s, the meatpacking industry endured a revolution stemming from IBP’s ability to maintain enough community consent to gain large market shares and draw down substantial profits.</p> <p>Yet gaining and keeping consent was not easy, nor was it linear. At one point or another all of these entities opposed IBP on a myriad of fronts, but their early cooperation aided in creating a corporate juggernaut that often limited their economic or political power. For IBP’s part, the company’s founders and subsequent executive managers fostered a masculine, individualistic sense of corporate capitalism, which I refer to as cowboy capitalism. Executives painted themselves as farm boys and cowboys, as renegades who were bringing hard work and plain talk to the inefficient meatpacking industry. This conservative, bootstrap mentality played well in the Siouxland region of the Northern Great Plains, where IBP began. Just as corporate success is aided by community consent, rescinding consent creates challenges for the company that can temporarily cause a decline, or at the very least roadblock to company growth. Though founders, managers, and key innovators gain critical and laudatory attention for their role in growing American capitalism; extended community support in terms of governmental and non-governmental actors rarely have been the focus of a corporate study. It is community consent, both active and latent, governmental and non-governmental, that supported the cowboy capitalism IBP deployed to start a revolution.</p>

An Evaluation of the Indian Buffet Process as Part of a Recommendation System / En utvärdering av Indian Buffet Process som en del av ett rekommendationssystem

This report investigates if it is possible to use the Indian Buffet Process (IBP), a stochastic process that defines a probability distribution, as part of a recommendation system. The report focuses on recommendation systems where one type of object, for instance movies, is recommended to another type of object, for instance users.         A concept of performing link prediction with IBP is presented, along with a method for performing inference. Three papers that are related to the subject are presented and their results are analyzed together with additional experiments on an implementation of the IBP.        The report arrives at the conclusion that it is possible to use IBP in a recommendation system when recommending one object to another. In order to use IBP priors in a recommendation system which include real-life datasets, the paper suggests the use of a coupled version of the IBP model and if possible perform inference with a parallel Gibbs sampling. / Denna rapport undersöker om det är möjligt att använda Indian Buffet Process (IBP), en stokatisk process som definierar en sannolikhetsfördelning, som en del av ett rekommendationssystem. Rapporten fokuserar på rekommendationssystem där en sorts objekt, exempelvis filmer, rekommenderas till en annan sorts objekt, exempelvis användare.         Ett sätt att förutse länkar, link prediction, mellan olika objekt med hjälp av IBP presenteras tillsammans med en metod för att dra statistiska slutsatser, inference. Tre rapporter som är relaterade till ämnet presenteras och deras resultat analyseras tillsammans med ytterligare experiment på en implementation av IBP.        Rapporten drar slutsatsen att det är möjligt att använda IBP i ett rekommendationssystem då systemet rekommenderar ett objekt till ett annat objekt. Rapporten föreslår en kopplad version av IBP för att kunna använda IBP i ett rekommendationssystem som arbetar på riktigt data samt att inference ska utföras med en parallell Gibbs sampling.

В работе проведен анализ ИТ рынка для сравнения существующих систем релевантных для процесса оптимизации бизнес – процессов, подробно рассмотрена система SAP IBP, а также ее применимость с точки зрения оптимизации бизнес – планирования на предприятии. Также, были рассмотрены эффекты от внедрения ИТ системы и положительные тенденции для бизнеса. Была рассчитана экономическая эффективность внедрения системы и описано внедрение ИТ проекта. / In this work we describe the features of the implementation of the SAP IBP system on the example of a "Sausage Plant". In the work were made an analysis in the IT market to compare systems relevant to the process of optimizing business processes, discusses in detail the SAP IBP system, as well as its applicability from the point of view of optimizing business planning at the enterprise. Also, the effects of the implementation of the IT system and positive trends for business were considered, economic efficiency of the system implementation was calculated and the implementation of the IT project was described.

Eco-labeling organizations and the credibility debate in International Relations

The main purpose of this thesis is to explore the relationship between best practice adherence and the ownership status of an eco-labeling organization. The research question that is aiming to answer is what key factors most often explain differences in the level of credibility between for-profit carbon management eco-labels and not-for-profit carbon management eco-labels in transnational environmental governance. The case studies of interest are the two certification agencies Verra and The Carbon Reduction Institute. The issue of credibility of eco-labeling schemes will be looked through a Green IR theoretical perspective and debunked with Neoliberal IR theory. The methods which will be used are Small-N comparison and Qualitative Content Analysis conducted through Index for Best Practices. The data for the study is acquired from the online platforms of the two case studies for investigation.

The use of mobile communication technology in professional identity development : a case of using whatsapp messenger to teach inquiry-based pedagogy to university chemistry teachers

Abstracts in English, Zulu and Setswana / This study investigated the feasibility of using WhatsApp Messenger as a tool to enhance the professional identity and inquiry-based pedagogy through the professional development of university chemistry teachers. The epistemological interpretive paradigm was used to guide the study. The study assumed a naturalistic, exploratory investigation. The qualitative research methodology was used to conduct the study. Nine university teachers were purposively sampled from three universities (three teachers from each university) for the study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observations, and focus group discussions. Data analysis was completed using the thematic networks analysis. Ethics considerations were observed by not disclosing personal information of the participants or information about the universities where they represented. This study was guided by four theoretical underpinnings: the connectivism theory, the transformative learning theory, the expectancy-value theory, and the dual systems theory. The primary research question guiding this study was: How does the professional identity of university chemistry teachers develop as they learn IBP through WhatsApp Messenger? A two-pronged approach was used in the research: (1) comparing the professional identity of the teachers before and after the course, and (2) observing and describing the professional identity process as the teachers undertook the course. The results from the interviews conducted before the teachers undertook the WhatsApp Messenger-based IBP course showed that most teachers had a negative professional identity. They had become teachers for a variety of reasons, but they did not consider themselves teachers and believed they would leave university teaching if opportunities arose in the industry. They had no formal qualifications in pedagogy, and they did not believe that such knowledge was necessary. The majority of these teachers used teacher-centred approaches. Results from participant observations during the WhatsApp Messenger-based IBP course showed that the course slowly imparted to the teachers the norms associated with not only IBP, but other teaching approaches as well. WhatsApp Messenger provided a flexible online platform where the teachers interacted and exchanged ideas without the need to meet in a physical space. The results from the interviews conducted after the teachers participated in the WhatsApp Messenger-based IBP course showed that the participants' professional identity had changed positively.
