An Econometric Model of the Canadian Clothing and Textile Industry

Kim, Sang Yoong 08 1900 (has links)
This thesis develops an econometric model of the Canadian clothing and textile industry for the purpose of investigating its structure, the market it faces, linkages between the market and the industry and the sensitivity of the industry to external factors. Using the model, several simulation experiments are conducted with the primary focus centered on the issues of protection accorded the industry. The future prospects of the industry under various alternative scenarios are evaluated. Empirical support is indicated for most of the hypotheses underlying the specification of the model. Some of the hypotheses are: the firms in the industry engage in imperfect competition; the industry operates under constant return to scale; price competitiveness is a significant factor in explaining the level of imports; domestic production capacity has an influence on imports. It is found in the thesis that clothing imports respond with a relatively high elasticity to changes in price as well as income, revealing a source of instability inherent in the clothing industry. As a system, the model is found to trace the history of the industry with reasonable accuracy. The model is also found to display a considerable degree of consistency and stability in its responses throughout the simulation experiments. The thesis thus provides a dynamic, structural and simultaneous economic system that can be validly used either as a forecasting tool or frame of reference in analyses. An ex-ante simulation intended as a reference forecast of the industry suggests that despite the present quota protection, the past downward trend observed in the clothing industry will likely continue in the future, while the textile industry will maintain a status quo. A simulation with a complete removal of tariff protection appears to support the argument that consumer gains will outweigh losses on the labour and production side. Another simulation suggests that there are policy options available that may be considered as effective means of stimulating the industry. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Ocenění podniku Tonak, a.s. / Company valuation Tonak SpA

Vrba, Jan January 2010 (has links)
This work deals with the valuation of the Tonak company. My endeavor was that this thesis cover all facts that are absolutely necessary for real appraisal form. The introduction to the work is theoretical, and is supposed to acquaint its readers with the methods of valuation. Based on this fact, the work should thus be understood by those who have only basic knowledge of accounting. Another chapter of the "object of valuation" focuses on a particular company. This chapter should familiarize people who have never heard about this company before with basic information about the structure and accounting rules of the Tonak company. In the financial analysis we look closely at the individual financial statements for the years 2005 - 2009 and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the financial aspects of company. The most important data will be compared with major competitors. The strategic analysis is divided into two parts. Analysis of external potential and analysis of internal potential. The external analysis focuses on the relevant market in terms of product and customer, and based on historical data and expert estimates attempts to predict the development of the market's revenue as a whole. On the other hand, the section on analysis of internal potential strives to predict Tonak's revenue compared against other companies in the sector. Based on these analyses, I am providing the estimated revenues of TONAK for the first and second stage. The next chapter is called "Generators values." These generators allow me to map out the complete financial plan for the next five years. The final section is devoted to the own valuation of Tonak. As the main method I chose DCF APV, which is the least common, though I believe its expression value is one of the best. As a supplementary method is used the market comparison method, which is compulsory in the Czech Republic despite its limited amount of data which, however, leads to limited expressibility.

Reformas na indústria elétrica brasileira: A disputa pelas \'fontes\' e o controle dos excedentes / REFORMS IN THE BRAZILIAN ELECTRIC INDUSTRY: THE DISPUTE FOR `SOURCES\' AND THE CONTROL OF THE EXCEEDING LABOUR

Gonçalves Junior, Dorival 28 September 2007 (has links)
The industry of infrastructure that Brazil produces, transports and distributes electricity, as integrant part of the chain of the electric industry, has been submitted, historically, to a movement of permanent change in its organizational structure of production. И., Kopnina, A. I. January 2018 (has links)
The object of the study is the idea of the production of anti-corrosion products. The purpose of the work is to justify the economic feasibility of the project for the production of anti-corrosion products. The following results were obtained in the course of the work. As part of the study of methodological approaches to the assessment of economic prospects, the definitions of economic and marketing analysis were given, their main methods and tasks were determined. And also the author's classification of anticorrosion products, taking into account their key features. The results of market and prospects analysis allowed to identify the main consumers and competitors of the industry market of interest, as well as to determine the optimal volume of production of anti-corrosion product and its average market value. Thus, the optimal volume of output that does not violate the existing market balance is about 30 tons, and the average market value of 1 ton of product is 100-110 thousand rubles. The results of the patent research conducted in the framework of the assessment of scientific and technical prospects allowed to determine the dynamics of patenting and to identify similar technical solutions. Based on the results of the patent research, the average life of the project for the production of iron oxide pigment with anti – corrosive properties is limited to 4 years. The scientific and practical result obtained by the author in the process of the work is the creation of a production model that takes into account more effective tools for the implementation of the idea for the production of anti-corrosion products. Within the framework of this model, taking into account the conclusions made in the analytical part of the work, the indicators of economic efficiency of the three options for technology transfer are calculated.
