From that start point, this project intends to comprehend, though the eyes of some of these characters, how this spatial choice was experienced, not merely as a practical choice, but also from a sentimental and imaginational point of view. With interviews, to better comprehend the subjects experiences, the attempt was to find out details of their lives, their way of life, their impressions on the trajectory of their parents and their own and their consciousness about their lives, not just politically and economically, but of all of which can be called to be part of the substance of identity and relationship lived by them. An important element in this research was the part of the Jewish traditions chosen by the subjects as relevant to live their lives by, as well as the singularity of their trajectory, the personal experience shared socially though their own choices, the way they behave toward inherited conditions, the values they live by and finally how these experiences, in this place so full of meaning and particularities, helped rebuild the ethnic-religious lives of the people in this study. Another core question in this study is to verify how this occupation occurred, from the 1960 s, and the numerous Jewish institutions that moved to the area or that chose the neighborhood as the place for their headquarters / A proposta deste estudo volta-se para a experiência e para a vivência de judeus no bairro de Higienópolis e arredores na cidade de São Paulo, onde a concentração da comunidade judaica é acentuada.

The Challenge Of Becoming An Immigration Country. The Case Of Germany In The Light Of The New Legal Draft On Immigration.

Yuce, Yasemin 01 November 2003 (has links) (PDF)
ABSTRACT THE CHALLENGE OF BECOMING AN IMMIGRATION COUNTRY. THE CASE OF GERMANY IN THE LIGHT OF THE NEW LEGAL DRAFT ON IMMIGRATION. Y&uuml / ce, Yasemin M.Sc., Department of Political Science and Public Admistration Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Okyayuz November 2003, 137 pages This study is looking for an answer to the question &ldquo / Is Germany an immigration country?&rdquo / that has been re-put on the agenda with the new immigration law. At the same time, different dimensions of the immigration country concept have been explained so that the evolution of the characterstics of immigration and Germany&rsquo / s immigration history can be investigated in order to explain this question. The main argument of this study is that Germany has become a de facto immigration country by time and now with the new immigration law it will be recognizing this de facto phenomenon politically. Germany&rsquo / s state system and structure is different from classical immigration countries and moreover it has a strong nation-state tradition that is a big barrier for its becoming an immigration country. Thus, while immigration issue in Germany is debated, the issues stemming from this nation-state tradition will be debated as well. Today, international developments and social dynamics force Germany to redefine itself. Germany is now debating the concept &ldquo / Germany as an immigration country&rdquo / and the new immigration law. Keywords: Immigration Country, The New German Legal Draft on Immigration, Migration in Germany

A territorialização dos judeus na cidade de São Paulo-SP: a migração do Bom Retiro ao Morumbi / The Jewish people in the city of São Paulo (Brazil): the migration from the districts of Bom Retiro to Morumbi.

Póvoa, Carlos Alberto 17 September 2007 (has links)
It is believed that almost all global human mobility is in the history of \"mass\" immigration, however, this immigration has fulfilled an important and transcendental role for the elaboration of concepts about the relation among: society - space / society - nature / space and time. The various migratory events in the history of Jewish people and in their inclusion in the urban space transformed and accomplished the events into actions, and enable the construction of \"their place\", as well as their identity by a cultural and religious materiality. The arrival of the first Jewish immigrants to the city of São Paulo coincided with a great period of urban transformation, and also a transformation of the landscape, now industrial, and which started to be the new panoramic configuration of the space organization and of the technical development, as well as the changes of the productive forces, which configures the territory and places, typically provincial in a big city of the country.
