Approche intégrée pour estimer la durée de vie en fatigue de pièces thermoplastiques renforcés fibres courtes dans un cadre viscoélastique haute température / Integrated Approach for the Estimation of the Fatigue Life of Short Glass Fibres Reinforced Thermoplastics Parts in a Viscoelastic Framework at High Temperature

Fouchier, Nathan 29 November 2018 (has links)
The employment of short glass fibres reinforced thermoplastics is increasing in the automotive industry for hot environment applications. The design of components in such conditions and with this type of materials under fatigue loading must be optimized using a fatigue life assessment methodology. The heterogeneous fibres orientation distribution (FOD), due to the injection process should be considered. This work, funded by the Direction Générale de l’Armement et Région Poitou-Charentes, suggests an integrated approach from the injection process simulation to the assessment of the fatigue life at 110°C of injected components in a viscoelastic framework. The methodology here advanced is called “Through Process Modelling” (TPM). From the FOD in the component given by the injection simulation, the anisotropic effective local properties are estimated using viscoelastic homogenisation. The heterogeneous mechanical fields obtained by finite element simulations, for different types/levels of loading, are post-processed in order to get the input equivalent mechanical quantity of an energetic fatigue criterion giving the fatigue life of the component in each of these loading conditions. The identification of the fatigue criterion parameters and the validation of the whole methodology rely on an experimental fatigue database for a PA66GF30. Uniaxial tensile fatigue tests are carried out at 110°C in a climatic chamber, for 2 stress ratios (R = 0,1 and R = -1) and at 2Hz. They are performed for specimens cut out from injected plates with different orientations with respect to the flow direction. The methodology leads to very good predictions. The influence of the prediction of the FOD, input of the calculation chain, on the results is discussed.

They are originated mainly during the injection molding process. Some of the problems related to this phenomenon are reduction to the mechanic strength, cracks propagation and warpage. Many efforts are employed to minimize these residual stresses and, to achieve that, an essential step is its measuring. There are methods and devices already available to measure residual stress in metallic materials, but in the field of polymeric material, many aspects remain unexplored. In the present work, a device to measure strain gage signals was built, which was employed to determine residual stresses according to the most established techniques nowadays. Injection simulation techniques were utilized to estimate the build-up of residual stresses in polymeric test specimens under different manufacturing setups. Statistical analysis was performed to select the most favorable parameters for parts tensioning. Test specimens were fabricated in the selected process conditions. Samples weight measurements confirmed statistically that the process parameters selected have significantly altered the parts final mass. Residual stress measurements were carried out by employing the hole drilling technique in the manufactured specimens, thus being determined tensile residual stresses from 2.7 MPa by 6.2 MPa, in the layers closest to the parts surface. The typical profile for residual stress distribution, as described in literature, was observed in the experiments performed.

Moreover, several heavy oil fields are mature and, thus, offer great challenges for oil industry. Among the thermal methods used to recover these resources, steamflooding has been the main economically viable alternative. Latent heat carried by steam heats the reservoir, reducing oil viscosity and facilitating the production. This method has many variations and has been studied both theoretically and experimentally (in pilot projects and in full field applications). In order to increase oil recovery and reduce steam injection costs, the injection of alternative fluid has been used on three main ways: alternately, co-injected with steam and after steam injection interruption. The main objective of these injection systems is to reduce the amount of heat supplied to the reservoir, using cheaper fluids and maintaining the same oil production levels. This works discusses the use of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, methane and water as an alternative fluid to the steam. The analyzed parameters were oil recoveries and net cumulative oil productions. The reservoir simulation model corresponds to an oil reservoir of 100 m x 100 m x 28 m size, on a Cartesian coordinates system (x, y and z directions). It is a semi synthetic model with some reservoir data similar to those found in Brazilian Potiguar Basin. All studied cases were done using the simulator STARS from CMG (Computer Modelling Group, version 2009.10). It was found that waterflood after steam injection interruption achieved the highest net cumulative oil compared to other fluids injection. Moreover, it was observed that steam and alternative fluids, co-injected and alternately, did not present increase on profitability project compared with steamflooding / Muitas das reservas de hidrocarbonetos existentes em todo o mundo s?o formadas por ?leos pesados (?API entre 10 e 20).
