Methods: The survey used a qualitative inductive approach, meaningful selection, semi-structured interwiews and a qualitative content analysis. Results: The results presents with three main categories Attention Attendance, Municipal level intiatives and early interventions is important. The results shows that in the work to promote attendance at school, relationships between students and a reliable adult are an important component. Municipal-level intiatives may look different, but are based on creating the conditions for students with low attendance at school to be able to return to functioning schooling. Early intervention for students with hig absenteeism is important. Conclusion: The attention-grabbing problem of problematic absence affects both the individual and the community unless measures are promptly initiated. For students who do not complete the education, it can lead to lower conditions in the labor market and poorer health. This study highlights the importance of erly efforts to promote attendance.
