\"Avaliação biomecânica da união dente-implante com diferentes tipos de conectores, por meio do método dos elementos finitos\" / Biomechanical evaluation of implant-tooth union with different types of connectors through the finite element method

Betiol, Ederson Aureo Gonçalves 08 February 2007 (has links)
The aim of this study was to analyze, through a non linear method of finite elements, a fixed partial denture of four elements, having natural teeth as an abutment located in the mandibular first pre-molar region and an osseointegrated implant located in the mandibular second molar region in the same hemi-arc, when a vertical load of 175N was applied and distributed over the retainer and pontic. Three situations were evaluated: Model 1: fixed denture with rigid connectors; Model 2: fixed denture with a semi-rigid connector between the first and second pre-molar; Model 3: fixed denture with a semi-rigid connector between first molar and second molar. From the results obtained from all models, the bone region that presented the highest stress concentration was close to the mesial region in the cortical bone of the implant. The highest stress levels were found in model 2 and the lowest in model 3. As regards the implant, in models 1 and 3, higher stress levels were also observed in the cervicalmesial region, close to the intermediate retainer abutment union. In model 2, a great increase of stress was observed in the entire cervical region. Moreover, with regard to the connectors, in model 1, there were high stress levels between the pontics and between the pontic and implant retainer; in model 2 the highest stress levels were found between the molars; and in model 3, the highest stress levels were found at the semi-rigid connector.

Etude des interactions entre l'azote et le carbone lors de traitements séquencés de nitruration, de carburation et de nitrocarburation à basse température d'aciers inoxydables austénitiques : application à la texturation de surface / Study of the interactions between nitrogen and carbon during low temperature sequenced nitriding, carburizing and nitrocarburizing treatments of austenitic stainless steels : application to surface texturation

Guo, Yuanyuan 13 October 2010 (has links)
In the first chapter, a state of the art of these thermochemical treatments, as well as techniques used to achieve them have been presented. The nitriding and carburizing treatments, performed in a plasma reactor assisted by microwave in the Matrix Distributed Electron Cyclotron Resonance configuration, were studied in chapter 3. Analysis of the treated layers was performed by different experimental techniques: optical microscopy, profilometry, X-ray diffraction, Secondary Neutral Mass Spectroscopy, Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and glow discharge spectroscopy. In the fourth chapter, the nitrocarburizing treatment was studied and compared to sequenced carburization / nitriding and nitriding / carburizing treatments. A strong correlation was made between the average concentration of interstitial elements and the average compressive residual stress in the treated layers. The final chapter deals with the surface texturation or patterning to the nanometer or micrometer scale. To achieve this patterning, the deformation properties of the expanded austenite, formed during a nitriding treatment at low temperature, are used to construct a two dimensional array of dots, using grids or metallic tissues playing the role of masks to transfer a pattern on a piece of austenitic stainless steel

Flow-induced deformations and stress reduction by flexibility / Déformations induites par l'écoulement et réduction d'efforts par la flexibilité

Leclercq, Tristan 10 January 2018 (has links)
The static deflection of a flexible structure exposed to a transverse flow is classically known to reduce the drag it has to withstand. In the field of biomechanics, the flow-induced deformation of flexible plant elements leading to a reduction of the loads is referred to as `reconfiguration', in order to highlight the alleged benefits of such adaptive process. In this thesis, we investigate the mechanisms underpinning the reconfiguration in flow-structure systems featuring some spatial variability, or some dynamics arising either from the unsteadiness of the free-stream, from a flow-structure coupling leading to an instability, or from vortex-induced vibrations. We show that the ability of flexible structures to reduce the magnitude of the flow-induced loads is preserved in the presence of non-uniformities or dynamics, provided that the design of the structure is such that resistive drag dominates over inertial forces. We also show that the ability to deform has the added benefit of reducing the magnitude of the vortex-induced vibrations. Our work further indicates that light, slender structures are better suited to accommodate the flow-induced loads by reconfiguring, and that the efficiency of the process of load reduction by elastic reconfiguration is weakly sensitive to the spatial distribution of the system properties. Finally, regardless of the regime of reconfiguration, the reduction of the load always results from the concentration of the deformation on a characteristic bending length smaller than the actual length of the structure.

Characterization of Fatigue Cracking and Healing of Asphalt Mixtures

Luo, Xue 2012 May 1900 (has links)
Fatigue cracking is one of the most common distresses of asphalt pavements, whereas healing is a counter process to cracking which alleviates cracking damage and extends fatigue life of asphalt pavements. Most of existing methods to characterize fatigue cracking and healing are generally empirical or phenomenological in nature, which does not satisfy the need to develop mechanistic-based pavement design methods. The objective of this study is to characterize fatigue cracking and healing of asphalt mixtures using an energy-based mechanistic approach. A controlled-strain repeated direct tension (RDT) test is selected to generate both fatigue cracking and permanent deformation in an asphalt mixture specimen. Fatigue cracking is separated from permanent deformation from a mechanical viewpoint. The development of fatigue cracking is described by the evolution of the damage density and the increase of the average crack size with the increase of loading cycles. A creep and step-loading recovery (CSR) test is designed to measure the internal stress in the recovery phase of an asphalt mixture specimen. The internal stress and the strain measured in the recovery phase are used to conduct the mechanistic analysis of recovery and healing of the asphalt mixture specimen. Then healing is described using the decrease of the damage density and average crack size with time. Different types of asphalt mixtures produce distinctly different fatigue cracking and healing characteristics. The effect of mixture composition, temperature, and aging are evaluated using the approach above. The entire series of tests for fatigue, permanent deformation and healing can be completed in one day, with the healing part requiring only a matter of minutes. The methods proposed in this study characterize fatigue cracking and healing of asphalt mixtures using its essential cause and effect relationship.

Comportement cyclique et en fatigue d'un alliage cuivreux injecté sous pression / Cyclic and fatigue behaviour of an industrial high pressure die cast brass

Flégeau, Grégory 18 September 2013 (has links)
These research works deal with the investigation of the cyclique and fatigue behaviour of an industrial high-pressure die cast brass. Mechanical tests highlight relatively important changes of elasticity domain during monotonic loading, mainly due to changes of the internal stress. This study was conducted under different scales of observation. TEM observations enabled hypothesis to explain the "original" cyclic behaviour of the alloy. Fatigue tests showed that fatigue life of the material is quite dependent of the presence of defects that may be due to manufacture process. A simplified version of a multi-mechanism model was used to simulate the cyclic behaviour of the study alloy.
