Internaliserad misogyni och återkomsten av ”Jag är inte som alla andra tjejer” : Hur könsnormer uttrycks på sociala medier med koppling till skolans sex- och samlevnadsundervisning inom ämnet samhällskunskap / Internalized misogyny and the return of "I'm not like the other girls" : How gender norms are portrayed on social media based on the school's sex education in the subject social studiesSvensson Ek, Fina January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this research paper is to analyze how gender norms in the form of internalized misogyny are portrayed on social media based on the school´s sex education in the subject social studies. The methodological framework of this research is based on a qualitative and hermeneutist method. I analyzed how gender norms are portrayed on the social media platform TikTok. I specifically have analyzed the TikTok trend “introduce yourself as why girls hate you”. I have also analyzed Skolverket`s material for sex education. I have analyzed this material from a feminist perspective based on Judith Butler and Yvonne Hirdman’s theories as well as a feminist and gender pedagogical perspective. Based on the finding of this inquiry it can be concluded that the TikTok trend “introduce yourself as why girls hate you” can be understood from a feminist perspective as an expression of internalized misogyny through the way women portray and define gender in the videos. The definition of how to be a woman in the "right way" differs. Unlike previous research, heterosexual interaction was emphasized over homosocial friendship. The use of the TikTok trend in teaching is therefore a way to highlight gender norms without putting emphasis on differences between the sexes.
