Heimdahl, Ulrica, Kjellberg, Emilie January 2013 (has links)
233 universitetsstudenter i åldrarna 18-40 undersöktes. Mätinstrumenten som användes var The Compass of Shame Scale (CoSS) och The Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM). Resultaten diskuterades utifrån kvinnors underordnade ställning i samhället. / This study investigated shame and interpersonal sensitivity. Women were assumed to use more internalized shame-management scripts while men more of the shame-management script Avoidance. No significant differences concerning the script Attack others were expected. Women were assumed to be more interpersonal sensitive than men. Furthermore, a positive correlation between interpersonal sensitivity and internalized shame-management scripts were expected. 233 university students between the ages of 18-40 were examined. The instruments used were The Compass of Shame Scale (CoSS) and The Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM). The results showed that women rated themselves higher on the internalized shame-management scripts. There were no significant differences regarding the scripts Avoidance and Attack others. Women also rated themselves higher when it came to interpersonal sensitivity. In addition to a correlation between interpersonal sensitivity and internalized shame-management scripts there were also correlations between Attack others and IPSM total, and between CoSS total and IPSM total. The results were discussed from the perspective of women’s subordinate role in society. More research is needed to clarify the connection between these two constructs.
