With this aim, we developed, in the first chapter, the analysis of the modus operandi of the law of mind, for Peirce has made it the great law through which all regularities of the universe were formed. Thus, we went through the concept of continuity, which is the condition of possibility for understanding the dynamics of the mental law of association of ideas. The association of ideas, which structures the formation of all mental regularities, is not entirely subject to the strict rules of necessity, but shelters also new elements. They are the basis for diversification and for providing the law of mind with an evolutionary trend. In the second and last chapter, we went through the three evolutionary modes tychasm, anancasm and agapasm which are characterized by the way chance and necessity are intertwined. Peirce rejects as theoretically inadequate both the theories that make chance the only positive agent of change (tychasm), as well as that attribute change to some necessary principle (anancasm). He makes agapic evolution, which sets love as the principle of attraction and harmonious inclusion of divergent strains in the unity of the cosmic continuum, in a way very similar in nature to that of the habit-taking process, to be the evolutionary principle of greater generality and intelligibility / Esta dissertação propõe-se a prover uma versão em português para o ensaio Amor Evolucionário de 1893 de Peirce, bem como a oferecer subsídios teóricos para a sua leitura. Com este intuito, empreendemos, no primeiro capítulo, a análise do modus operandi da lei da mente, já que Peirce faz dela a grande lei de formação de todas as regularidades do universo. Para tanto, debruçamo-nos sobre o conceito de continuidade, que é a condição de possibilidade para compreender a dinâmica da lei mental da associação de idéias. A associação de idéias, que estrutura a formação de todas as regularidades mentais, não está inteiramente sujeita às regras estritas da necessidade, mas acolhe também o novo, o que introduz as bases para a diversificação e, desta forma, dota a lei da mente de um vetor evolutivo. No segundo e último capítulo, percorremos os três modelos de evolução descritos por Peirce (ticasma, anancasma e agapasma), que se caracterizam pela forma como neles se articulam o acaso e a necessidade. Peirce recusa, como teoricamente insuficientes, tanto as teorias que atribuem ao acaso o papel de único agente positivo da mudança (ticasma), quanto as que o depositam em algum princípio de necessidade (anancasma), e faz da evolução agápica, que afirma o amor como princípio de atração e inclusão harmoniosa das forças divergentes na unidade do continuum cósmico, num processo da natureza similar ao modus operandi da formação de hábitos, o princípio evolutivo de maior generalidade e inteligibilidade
