Metodika vyšetřování sexuálních trestných činů (vybrané problémy) / Methods of investigation of sexual crimes (selected issues)

Burešová, Veronika January 2015 (has links)
Cizojazyčné resumé The diploma thesis deals with the methods of investigation of sexual crimes. Because the topic is too broad I've decided to focus only on selected issues of methods of investigation of child sexual abuse. Investigation of child sexual abuse is very specific in comparison to other sexual crimes. During the investigation the child victim must be handled very sensitively in order to avoid secondary victimization. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the specifics of investigation of child sexual abuse and other problems connected with it. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to historical and current legal regulations of child sexual abuse. At the same time it describes occurrence of this crime in the area of the Czech Republic. The second chapter provides criminalistics characteristic of child sexual abuse. The chapter consists of three parts. The first one is dedicated to the typical ways of committing this crime with focus on cybergrooming. The second part describes different types of perpetrators and also specifics of female perpetrators. The third part deals with victims of crimes and it is focused on short-term and long-term consequences of child sexual abuse. I pay attention mostly to the issue of secondary victimization because I consider it as...

Taktika výslechu / Interrogation tactics

Kulhánková, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
Interrogation Tactics The aim of my diploma thesis is to provide an overview of methods of interrogation. The topic Interrogation Tactics is very broad, so I am especially focusing on the use of tactical procedures in a situation when the person is not willing to testify truthfully. The thesis is split into 5 key chapters, each of those attempts to summarize the most essential issues within the relevant field. The first part of this work outlines general aspects and also analyzes problems of examination and statement. This chapter introduces characteristics, definition and representation of interrogation and its legal background. Complete concept of the most common kinds of examinations are also described here. In order to satisfy the objective of examination, i.e. to get knowledge of relevant facts, thorough and accurate preparation is necessary. Otherwise the examination may not fulfill its task successfully. I focus on that in the second part of this thesis. In the third chapter called "Interrogation Tactics" I concentrate on the actual practice of interrogation tactics. Attention is paid to the general construction of questioning, i.e. its consecutive phases, and various individual situations that may occur during the interrogation are also discussed. This chapter pursues better understanding...

Sexuální zneužívání dítěte v rodinném prostředí - zvláštnosti výslechu / Sexual abuse of the child in family environment - special aspects of interrogation

Vajsová, Martina January 2013 (has links)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to determine the issue of a child interrogation as a crime victim. The reason for my research is the fact that despite of all the Criminal Procedure amendments the methodology of systematic child interrogation and its real usage is still not properly defined. The thesis is composed of four chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of sexual abuse of the child's interrogation. Chapter One is introductory and the chapter is subdivided into four parts. Part One and Part Two contain a short historical excursion define sexual abuse terminology and its forms. Part Three deals with Child Abuse and Neglect Syndrome and its five categories. Part Four is concerned with an occurrence of the Sexual abuse phenomenon in the Czech Republic, latency and status of educational institutions. Chapter Two examines relevant Czech legislation and European Union. First and second part characterise a statutory offence in Penal Code. Part Three and Four explain international agreements and European intervention issues. The last part contains the comparison of Czech and French child protection system with a short evaluation. Chapter Three deals with more details of Sexual abuse of the child in family environment. The chapter is subdivided into five parts. The first part explores...

Výslech svědka v civilním procesu / The interrogation of a witness in civil proceeding

Gřundělová, Ivana January 2018 (has links)
This thesis is about the interrogation of a witness in civil proceeding. It is considered as one of the most difficult means of proof in terms of its execution and later evaluation by the court. This work is divided into 10 chapters which systematically follow each other. In the introduction I firstly define the concept of means of proof and the groups they can be divided into. The following chapters focus on the main topic. The second chapter is composed of introduction of the witness, their legal obligation to testify and their capability. Also, it deals with the right to reject to testify and the obligation of confidentiality which receives extra attention. I deal with the obligation of confidentiality based on laws regulating this obligation for attorneys, notary, doctors and clerics. Furthermore, the work deals with the procedure of interrogation of witness as the law dictates it. Particularly, the way the court summons the witness and which lawful means does the law allows the court to enforce the duties among the witness to testify or punishing them for false testimony. In the chapter four and five the attention is on the process of interrogation itself and on possible specific means of interrogation, for example, the interrogation requested by the court or the interrogation done outside of...

The Question of Torture in the Bush Administration's War on Terror

Baker, Natasha Távora January 2010 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Marc Landy / This thesis serves to clarify and concretize the controversy surrounding the debate on torture as it pertains to the War on Terror during the Bush Administration years. It argues that policy and rhetoric decisions made at the top of the political food chain contributed to the instances of abuse and torture that occurred in the various arenas of the war (i.e. Afghanistan, Iraq, Guantanamo, and CIA “black sites”). Such an argument is made through an analysis of what defines interrogation and torture, what techniques were in fact authorized, what factors went into determining which techniques to use, and what influence these techniques had on abuses that occurred. This thesis concludes with policy updates based on lessons learned and briefly addresses the efforts made by the Obama Administration in regards to torture, interrogation, and terrorism. / Thesis (BA) — Boston College, 2010. / Submitted to: Boston College. Zvláštnosti výslechu dětí / Peculiarities of child interrogation

Svobodová, Karolína January 2019 (has links)
IV. Summary This thesis deals with legal elements of a child interrogation and psychological elements of this interrogation as well. This thesis deals both legal and psychological elements and, at the same time, a comprehension of their interconnection. Introduction part is focused on general, historically embedded child protection and personal experience over several years in working with children. At the same time, the development of methods of education is mentioned, which is connected, among other things, with the liberalization of society. The first chapter of the text is devoted to the personality of the child and their legal status from the historical point of view, as well as the developmental periodization, which is according to Vaclav Příhoda divided into 7 periods. In more detail, is presented the first and second childhood period, puberty and adolescence periods are analyzed as well. This chapter also focuses on the factors that influence youth. These factors include family and related heredity, school facilities, and other child groups. The main theme of chapter two is to outline the basic features of interrogation according to current criminological theory. Attention is paid to both the general distribution of interrogation and its preparation and division of its stages, which is distinguished...

Neutron Measurement and Transient Analysis in a Source Driven Subcritical Assembly for Active Interrogation and Radioisotope Applications

Abbas Johar Jinia (5930690) 03 January 2019 (has links)
<div>Detecting hidden/smuggled special nuclear materials (SNM) is one of the unsolved problems in the safeguards industry. The biggest challenge is to quantify and track SNM and prevent the use of these materials for illicit purposes. The goal is to detect smallest quantity of SNM in large cargo containers, at the ports of entry, in the shortest amount of measurement time. Currently passive detection techniques, which is based on long-lived isotopes, are used to detect hidden SNM. This technique is not very reliable, as appropriate shielding of the SNM can reduce detection signals from these long-lived isotopes. Accelerator based active interrogation methods are proposed to solve the SNM problem. Besides SNM, another challenge in the nuclear industry is to meet the demand and supply of medical radioisotopes, particularly Tc-99m (half-life 6 hours). Mo-99, which decays to Tc-99m, is one of the fission products found in nuclear reactors. Because of short half-life of 66 hours, Mo-99 cannot be stockpiled. The shutdown of various research reactors globally disrupted the supply of Mo-99. Because of the financial and regulatory burden on the nuclear reactors, accelerator-based systems can be used to produce Mo-99.</div><div><br></div><div>With the aim to solve these two major challenges, a preliminary study is done to understand the neutrons behavior on milliseconds (or shorter) time steps in an accelerator driven subcritical system. A pulsed external neutron source, i.e. Deuterium-Deuterium (DD) generator, drives the assembly. Using first principles, the transient equations are derived and the neutron population at different time stamps is calculated. The Li-6 detector’s response to the neutron population is predicted. Experiments are performed to compare the predicted behavior with the observed behavior. The model is extended further to investigate the case of no uranium fuel inside the system. Transient measurements, in the absence of the uranium fuel, are made and the neutron die-away time is determined. This die-away time is compared with the predicted time.</div>

Mapping the semantic landscape of film: computational extraction of indices through film grammar

Adams, Brett January 2002 (has links)
This thesis presents work aimed at exploiting the grammar of film for the purpose of automated film understanding, and addresses the semantic gap that exists between the simplicity of features that can be currently computed in automated content indexing systems and the richness of semantics in user queries posed for media search and retrieval. The problem is set within the broader context of the need for enabling technologies for multimedia content management, and arises in response to the growing presence of multimedia data made possible by advances in storage, processing, and transmission technologies. The first demonstration of this philosophy uses the attributes of motion and shot length to define and compute a novel measure of film tempo. Tempo flow plots are defined and derived for a number of full length movies, and edge analysis is performed leading to the extraction of dramatic story sections and events signaled by their unique tempo. In addition to the development of this computable tempo measure, a study is conducted as to the usefulness of biasing it toward either of its constituents, namely motion or shot length. Thirdly, a refinement is made to the shot length normalizing mechanism, driven by the peculiar characteristics of shot length distribution exhibited by movies. The next aspect of film examined is film rhythm. In the rhythm model presented, motion behaviour is classified as being either nonexistent, fluid or staccato for a given shot. Shot neighbourhoods in movies are then grouped by proportional makeup of these motion behavioural classes to yield seven high-level rhythmic arrangements that prove adept at indicating likely scene content (e.g., dialogue or chase sequence). The second part of the investigation presents a novel computational model to detect editing patterns as either metric, accelerated, decelerated, or free. / It is also found that combined motion and editing rhythms allow us to determine that the media content has changed and hypothesize as to why this is so. Three such categories are presented along with their efficacy for capturing useful film elements (e.g., scene change precipitated by plot event). Finally, the first attempt to extract narrative structure, the prevalent 3-Act storytelling paradigm in film, is detailed. The identification of act boundaries in the narrative allows for structuralizing film at a level far higher than existing segmentation frameworks which include shot detection and scene identification, and provides a reliable basis for inferences about the semantic content of dramatic events in film. Additionally, the narrative constructs identified have analogues in many other domains, including news, training video, sitcoms, etc., making these ideas widely applicable. A novel act boundary posterior function for Act 1 and 2 is derived using a Bayesian formulation under guidance from film grammar, tested under many configurations, and the results are reported for experiments involving 25 full-length movies. The framework is shown to have a role in both the automatic and semi-interactive setting for semantic analysis of film.

MODÉLISATION GÉNÉRIQUE DE DOCUMENTS MULTIMÉDIA PAR DES MÉTADONNÉES : MÉCANISMES D'ANNOTATION ET D'INTERROGATION

Jedidi, Anis 06 July 2005 (has links) (PDF)

Free Spectral Range Matched Interrogation Technique for Wavelength Demodulation of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors

Rahimi, Somayyeh 20 January 2009 (has links)
Free Spectral Range Matched Interrogation (FSRMI) technique for wavelength demodulation of fiber Bragg grating sensors. We designed and tested a new wavelength demodulation system based on free-spectral-range-matched interrogation which employs a tunable fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) and a multi-channel bandpass filter. This technique was deployed to test fiber Bragg gratings (FBG), long period gratings (LPG) and tilted fiber Bragg gratings (TFBG). In the experimental setup, a broadband source launches light into a fiber Bragg grating under test and the reflection/transmission spectrum is fed into a tunable FPI. By tuning an external bias applied to the FPI, the transmission spectrum of FPI scans over a wavelength range. The input optical signal is therefore selectively passed through the FPI and then fed into a four-channel bandpass filter followed by four photodetectors. The optical signal is converted to electrical signal by the photodiodes and is acquired by a data acquisition system. Since a bandpass filter with four channels are used in this interrogation system it can scan four distinguished wavelength ranges simultaneously and thus the scan rate is four time faster. We used this setup for doing some temperature and strain sensitivity measurements on some fiber gratings. Strain sensitivity measurements were done on FBG, TFBG and LPG and temperature sensitivity measurements were performed on TFBG. The strain and temperature sensitivity coefficients of these fiber Bragg grating sensors were obtained from experimental data. Our results show the potential of the integration of the FSRMI system with fiber Bragg gratings for temperature and strain multiple-sensor arrays with high sampling speed and high accuracy.
