Vanessa Gama.pdf: 2544191 bytes, checksum: 011f71b6daed3f1347957ef226df861b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-02-14 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Change is undoubtedly a fundamental phenomenon, which allows the renewal and preservation of the language over time. As a product and producer of a given society, it is natural for language to accompany her dynamism. Linguistic changes take place primarily in speech, especially in informal contexts, where there is a lower level of monitoring and a reduced distance between the speaker and his interlocutor. It is in everyday speech that the sender has the freedom to access the potentialities of the system and to dare in the elaboration of new words, aiming at the improvement of the communication. This process of linguistic creation and renewal is called neology. Its product, in turn, is called the neologism. In this perspective, when adopting the neologism as object of study, we look for a corpus that would allow the extraction of a significant number of neological lexias present in the present Portuguese. Thus, we selected 70 copies of the popular Bahia Massa! newspaper, referring to the months of January to March of 2015, which present in their headlines, calls and titles several neological lexias constant in the speech of their public-reader. We base the research on the analysis and classification of the 203 new words detected, based on theoretical studies based on neology and lexicology of the Portuguese language. The identification of the neological character was made from current dictionaries, such as Houaiss (2009), Aur?lio (2010) and Dicio (online). The parameter for the organization of the data consisted of: a) grammatical classification, b) meaning, c) type of formation process, d) contexts in which they appear along the copies. This procedure allowed us to observe that the most frequent type of neologism in the corpus is the formal one, and the most productive lexical process is the semantic one. In addition, it was possible to verify that the creation of neologisms by the speakers occurs in a systematic way, in informal contexts of communication and with a definite purpose, that is, of propagating ideas and concepts.

This qualiquantitative study analyzes lexicogrammatical choices realized in 18 written texts from the Discussion genre produced by nine students of a language institute at a federal university in Northeastern Brazil. The texts were generated in a Level IV English class and in a conversation class in two moments in 2015.2 and submitted to a qualitative analysis by using the transitivity system proposed by systemic-functional linguistics (HALLIDAY, 1994; EGGINS, 2004; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014). In the quantitative analysis, we used the Wordsmith Tools 5.0 (SCOTT, 2010) program to identify and quantify the processes and the participants of the clauses. The results show that the most frequent processes in the level IV class were is/are, like and have whereas the most frequent processes in the conversation class were is/are, think, and do. In the first class, the process like suggests that the students conceive the subjects in question as matters of personal preference while, in the second class, the process think reveals the interpretation of the themes as matters of personal beliefs. Regarding the participants in the clauses, the more frequent recurrences in the level IV class were people, weekend, I and we, while we, waste, problem, garbage, you and women were more recurrent in the conversation class. The recurrent use of I in the first class shows the strategy of the students in revealing themselves as authors to express their opinions. On the other hand, in the second class, the use of you consists of a strategy to call the reader?s attention directly. These results show that the identification and the analysis of participants and processes in the clauses by means of transitivity are useful feedback for the students when rewriting or producing new texts.

Silva, Geysa Andrade da 22 February 2017 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 SILVA, Geysa Andrade da.pdf: 4591061 bytes, checksum: 4033e84eb670f9950a38e4fe6d1bef58 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-02-22 / The lexicon is a dynamic and flexible repertoire of words which many theorists have examined. For being quite diverse, it has a considerable potential for research and although it is far from exhaustion, all production has been very promising. According to Oliveira and Isquerdo (2001), even if the window through which a community can see the world is an abstract unit, it is possible to construct a verifiable rational and systematic knowledge, that is science, of its elements. From the need to explore this lexical inventory, the following question has been developed: do the lexical items produced provide data that mark the lexical variation of the gypsies? The research demanded an investigation in loco in cities of Bahia (Miguel Calmon and Jacobina ? Meso-region of the Center-North of Bahia) and of Pernambuco (Flores and Ouricuri ? Meso-region of Pernambuco?s Sert?o) from which the diatopic variation identified in sample data can be demonstrated. Respondents, men and women of different age groups - for diagenetic and diagenerational variation - gypsies, as well as other social information, responded to the structured instrument, excerpt of Semantic-Lexical Questionnaire of Linguistic Atlas of Brazil ? ALiB, specifically six questions of the semantic area of Games and children's recreation, through which it was tried to document the variation of the most general denominations of use or other specific denominations of the group. From the analysis of this corpus, the lexical contributions that mark the identity of the gypsy people were identified and the extra linguistic conditioners that influence the lexical realization of the gypsy community were verified. Linguistic factors, although conditioning factors of the variation, were not object of study in this work, they proved, therefore, inappropriate for the lexical level in question. The course with the gypsy groups drew restrictions at the questionnaire level, just as the Ethics Committee required the release of enough energy. The methodology and procedures are based on those adopted by ALiB. A lexicon search aims to determine the origin, form, and meaning of the words that make up the collection of a language; the one proposed here is based on analysis of Lexicology, Sociolinguistics and Dialectology since it aims to observe the use of the word in the community of speakers. The results indicate that the lexical variation is basically a result of the region where the speaker is inserted, and sometimes other variations due to age, sex, educational level, and not ethnicity.

Ara?jo, Gracielli Fabres de 12 March 2015 (has links)

ISQUERDO, 2007). From the need to explore this lexical inventory, we will address the following question: does the lexicon found in hinterland communities of Bahia's semiarid interior show influences of Galician and / or Archaic Portuguese, ie check if there are in the lexicon used in semiarid Bahia Iberian influences, especially if there is maintenance of so-called archaisms. The existence of this kind of lexicon, especially in the speech of older people, is our initial hypothesis. In this sense, we seek to carry out the survey of backcountry lexicon, checking for influences of the Spanish, Galician, and Portuguese languages, based initially in the corpus of the collection "samples of spoken language in the Bahian semi-arid" UEFS / FAPESB. The research methodology is the quali-quantitavie method. The corpus of data used is part of the database of the research project "Portuguese Language in the Semiarid Bahia." In order to recognize and analyze, in full measure the relevance of the lexicon of the semi-arid Bahia, the decision was made to investigate the unknown and to known about the subject as recognized in the growing literature base for this topic. In this sense, the possibility of studying the Iberian influences within the Bahian semi-arid lexicon means understanding more effectively the great cultural wealth within the the area, culminating in new dialogues for future more watchful eyes of the semiarid cultural source, and hence of its lexical richness. The results indicate that there is maintenance of some archaic terms, especially in the most isolated communities.
