我國TFT-LCD產業發展現階段已開始投入第六代、第七代的投資設廠,並在民國90年創下出貨量近四千萬片的佳績,在全球佔有率達40%,表現搶眼亮麗。加上TFT-LCD產業為我國政府大力支持的「兩兆雙星」的主要產業之一,相信該產業的發展成長將對於我國經濟產生深遠影響。過去研究多半針對TFT-LCD產業從競爭策略、關鍵零組件分析等構面,來對該產業或是個案公司進行經營策略上的建議,而本研究則針對台灣TFT-LCD產業中的公司進行價值上的因子分析,希望藉由拆解各個財務性因子來了解影響其產業公司價值的主要因素。
我們主要探討的是重大影響整體產業股價評價的本益比(P/E)與股價淨值比(P/B)的關鍵影響因子為何。依照營運面及盈餘面,分別列出三個主要影響股價的價值因子;在營運面部分,我們選擇再投資率、銷貨利潤率以及投入資本週轉倍數,而在盈餘面部分,則選擇銷售成長率、利潤率及總投資率來檢測,想要發現其影響較為重大的價值因子,以提供未來股價評價資訊因子的參考性。結果發現在盈餘面的再投資率是影響該產業及個案公司間相對股價表現較為重要的因素,值得多加觀察其變動狀況。

The photoelectricity industry is vigorous development industry of all the world in the recent 10 years. Especially, TFT - LCD flat panel industry will have the richly potential development in the future and the market output value scale is huge after the semiconductor industry. Therefore becomes the star industry.
The Japanese creates thought that, the South Korean enhances the huge scale in the market, the Taiwan person makes the small advantage. Besides semiconductor technology, TFT - LCD covers the technology which is included optics domain and up and down material supply chains are widespread.
In recent years because every TFT - the LCD industry one after another expanded production capacity that caused the price rapidly to glide down, therefore industry must face the compression to make a profit . How to survive in the severe environment competition and how to utilize the effective strategy for various merchants?
This research mainly applies the theory construction of Michael Porter's Five Forces Model and diamond Model to become the analytic tools.
To find oneself competition strategy direction , we must discuss the
different advantage and inferiority of the global LCD TV flat panel industry in the competition strategy to make the analysis comparison to the Taiwan industry by the above tool.
TFT - LCD development until now, whose technology has strictly complete mature periods and had entered the mature period.
Then TFT - LCD flat panel industry steps and develops greater size.
At the same time the industry must face the existing competitor, also must face the potential competitor under this kind of severe environment and face more test.
Taiwan TFT - LCD industry must develop the below strategy to be able to maintain the long-time competitive advantage:

The Relationship between State and Industry in TaiwanChan, Meng-Chiao 24 June 2004 (has links)
Abstract
The rapid development of states in East Asia attracts scholars to discuss the effect of the state in economy from different points of view. Neo-classical economic theory claims that the role of the state is secondary and market mechanism is the major engine to drive economy. Traditional state-centered theory thinks that neo-classical economic theory neglects the importance of the state and claims that industrial policies of the state are the reason of the rapid growth in East Asia. However separation between the state and the society leads to simplifications and limits of traditional state-centered theory. After states in East Asia apply the democratization and freedom of the economy, Evans and Weiss¡¦s policy network theory becomes the main stream to explain the development of the states in East Asia.
In the past, the relative studies about the development of LCD industry in Taiwan were scarce. Few people concerned about the relationship between states and industries. Based on the interaction of states and industries, this thesis discusses how the policy of the state influences the development of LCD industry in Taiwan.
The results shows that the state is passive and lets the companies compete freely in the market in the beginning of LCD industry. In the 90¡¦s, the state turns to be positive and intends to lead the development of TFT-LCD industry. However to integrate the democratization and opinions of companies is difficult. The companies are hard to acquire the important technology they need and the economy is in the depression in that time. These factors cause LCD industry unable to develop well.
The financial crisis in 1997 and Korea entering the market force the companies of Taiwan to cooperate with the ones of Japan and start to produce the large size TFT-LCD. The state turns to focus on the establishment of the industrial environment. In the efforts of the state and the companies in LCD industry, the LCD industry expands quickly and industrial structure is gradually close to complete. In the recent years, Taiwan already has become second best state in the LCD production.
However it does not mean that Taiwan has already stood firm. The inflow of huge sum capital and the establishment of intellectual property are topics urgent to be solved. Finally to maintain the close interaction of states and industries contributes to the development of LCD industry.

LCD becomes a very hot products because every 3C product is needed LCD to display information. That is one of the most impoet reason Taiwan becomes one of the most import LCD manufacture in the world. Because of the LCD industry, Taiwan's LCD industry could lead the entire economic prosperity; strengthen Taiwan's competitiveness in the world. Taiwan can become one of the importmrnt in the development of the thin film Transistor liquid crystal displaytechnology.
TFT-LCD industry could lead the entire Taiwan's economic prosperity, strengthen Taiwan's competitiveness, but if there is no strong and supply chain support, it will affect Taiwan's TFT-LCD industry competitiveness. In the recently, we found some situation which are some compamies special Korean compamies dominate almost all the market shares. Taiwan companies such AUO and Chimei loss a lot of market shares in the world. In addition, Korean compamies make a lot of profit from saling TFT-LCD but Taiwan companies’ loss some profit from saling TFT-LCD. Because of the above reasons, in this reseach paper we are going to analysis of the LCD industry, analysis of LCD market structure, LCD industry model, Sharp and Foxconn case and suggestions.
Because Taiwan companies such AUO and Chimei loss a lot of market shares and not make enough profit that is why we have the study motivation to create the suggestions to improve our TFT LCD market shares and profit for our TFT LCD industry. We will give some suggestions to our TFT LCD manufacturers to increase their TFT LCD market. In additiotn, we will also give some suggestion to our TFT LCD manufacturers to increase their sales on small size of TFT LCD.

The analysis of competitive strategies of medium and small sized panel manufacturers in Taiwan : Take TPO as an exampleChen, Tung-liang 19 August 2009 (has links)
Based on the R&D roadmap, market demand, supply chain framework, economy of scale, clientele distribution, and manufacturing strategies of medium and small-size Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) industry in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China, this thesis aims to explore the possibility of Taiwanese medium and small-size LCD manufacturers in acquiring global ODM & OEM contracts, and identify the competitive advantages and disadvantages of a case company - TPO. By using the Porter¡¦s five force model and the SWOT analysis, we have found the following:
1. Technology research and development: The case company does not have a clear road map. As jobs are roughly defined and randomly delegated among R&D and production units, they cannot be effectively coordinated to meet future market demands.
2. Product development: The speed of product development and problem-shooting does not meet the requirements of ¡§time to market¡¨, which has caused the recent loss of major customers.
3. Supply chain: The case company has not established long-term partnerships with its material suppliers and supplier selection is primarily based on low unit price instead of in strong commitment to elevate capability or improve quality.
4. Production specialty and cost: The production facilities of the case company are widely distributed in ChuNan, NanJing, Shanghai, and Osaka-Kobe. The overall production costs are higher than its rivals and the back-end production capacity does not meet customer requirements in price and quantity.
5. Quality management: Most long-term clients of the case company are located in Taiwan or China. Lack of direct international experiences, the case company has not been able to meet the high quality requirment of the global tier one players.
In this thesis, the following directions are suggested:
1. To enhance labor quality in China: The quality of its Chinese labor force should be elevated to shorten production processes for cost reduction.
2. To upgrade supply chain management by taking advantage of direct flights between the Taiwan and China: With reduced costs in transportation and inventory brought by direct cargo flight, the case company can adopt the strategy to ¡§manufacture in the vicinity of end-market¡¨.
3. To use vertical integration or horizontal alliance in its supply chain to improve its cost structure: By enhancing cooperation and job delegation among its group members and/or OEM providers, the case company can effectively lower the investment costs and inventory impairment risks.
4. To increase the economic scale of its production facilities: Each production facility should be assigned for a specialized production line to make the best economic scale. For instance, Shanghai Fab specializes in car appliances and NanJing Fab in non-Automotive LCD and Avionics LCD products, while Chunan Fab is mainly for the production of the front-end aerospace products.
5. To elevate the overall quality awareness: Quality management should be adopted from the very beginning of product design and specification. Meanwhile, DFMEA and PFMEA should be persisted for overall quality improvement.

LCD monitors brought new problems to plotting of quality of monitors (and visual equipment). Important parameter is response time of LCD monitor. The consequences of nonzero response time are motion artifacts, which are undesirable part of final scene. Response time depends on technology of production and dimension is typical for single technology. Measuring of response time may bring idea of using measured LCD monitor. Rightly response time decides, if monitor is enough “fast” for action video, games, etc, or other parameters are decisive. Producers of LCD panels assign response time which are measured in certain conditions and measured in different ways. The target of this project is designing digital meter response of LCD monitors, but also verification of response times of choice panels.
