Collective memories and how they are enacted through sensual experience of the material world play a key role in maintaining group identities. Material creations like art or social activities such as sports incorporate the social ideals of both the past as well as present; these creations can transform feelings of personhood into socialized objects. This thesis examines some of the creative expressions found within Oklahoma Choctaw revitalization practices to better understand how people maintain cultural sensory embodiments after they have experienced extreme social dislocation. Through the examination of the senses from an ethnographic approach a researcher can possibly identify those areas of culture that become embodied over time. I will be examining previously written research, oral histories pertaining to the Choctaw origin, and key material expressions of Choctaw identity alongside the contemporary practices associated with the current Choctaw revitalization efforts in Oklahoma.

The problem of this study was to survey the status of art in the secondary schools of Oklahoma. Art educators today are faced with a lack of uniformity in the teaching of art. There is an increasing need for a recognized art program and a placing of renewed emphasis on the teaching of art. Clear and comprehensive attitudes and ideas toward art in the Oklahoma public schools would tend to ease these difficulties and enrich teaching. There has been a great deal of critical thinking, but this has failed to produce the answers necessary to formulate a basis on which to build a good art program. This study was an attempt to survey the individual schools to determine the present status of art in the secondary schools of Oklahoma.

The problem in this study is to make a comparison of the qualifications and duties of secretaries of city school superintendents in Oklahoma, with regard to academic training stenographic duties, duties pertaining to financial records and reports, banking duties, duties pertaining to general records and reports, duties pertaining to bus and transportation reports, teaching duties and miscellaneous duties.

Kafka / Discerning the interrelated effects of space and time on the potential for wastewater well injection to induce earthquakes in Oklahoma is important for accurately mapping seismic hazards. This study explores how distance from wells and time after initiation of injection affect the possibility that injection activity might induce earthquakes under different conditions of operational lifetime, injection volume, and well depth. A unique feature of this study is filtering of the injection well database to isolate, as much as possible, the effect of specific well injection on the potential to induce earthquakes. The method used here is a modified version of “Cellular Seismology”, termed “Modified Cellular Seismology” (CS, MCS), where “CS Predictability” (CSP) is used as an operational definition of the extent to which injection wells are associated with earthquakes. I hypothesize that earthquakes associated with injection are most likely to occur within about 15 km of wells and within approximately the same year as active injection. Evidence shows that induced earthquake activity peaks primarily between about 2.5 and 3.5 km away from any given well, and this distance increases while CSP decreases over time. Temporal analyses suggest that CSP decreases by an average of about 5% over a period of five to seven years for any given well (or about 1% decrease per year), though there exists considerable scatter in this relationship. This change is variable across wells of different conditions, ranging from a decrease of 26% to an increase of 8% over the five to seven years covered by this study. Additionally, CSP tended to peak at least a year after injection for the most spatiotemporally isolated wells, suggesting that there may be, on average, at least a year of lag before any given well is likely to induce earthquakes. / Thesis (MS) — Boston College, 2018. / Submitted to: Boston College. Oklahoma History is a collection of poetry that examines the speaker's relationship to and critique of her home state, Oklahoma. The poems navigate race and gender as they intersect with local histories, culture, and religion, which complicates and often contradicts what the speaker is taught through childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood. The creative portion is accompanied by a critical preface which looks at how the poems and other writings of Oklahoma poet Joy Harjo impact the author's writing.
