Nezaměstnanost absolventů na trhu práce v ČR / Unemployment of graduates in the labor market in the Czech Republic

KATRUŠINOVÁ, Adriana January 2019 (has links)
The main aim of this diploma thesis is the analysis of unemployment of graduates of higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. This work compares the unemployment of graduates of lower level of university education with the unemployment of graduates of higher education. The graphs show three situations. The first group of graphs refers to the total unemployment of graduates in the monitored period by individual fields. The second group of graphs is the result of monito-ring the unemployment of university graduates in terms of long-term unemployment. The last set of graphs always shows the practical experience of unemployed graduates by individual study fields. At the end of this thesis are proposed changes to reduce the unemployment of graduates.

An examination of the engagement barriers perceived to exist between small firms and graduates

Henricksen, Georgina May January 2012 (has links)
Graduate recruitment in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is largely neglected, overshadowed by larger enterprises more traditionally associated with graduate employment. This thesis addresses this oversight by exploring graduate employment in small firms located in the West Midlands, with a specific focus on small Business and Professional Services (BPS). The thesis examines whether attitudinal barriers deterring graduates from small firm employment, and small firm employers from recruiting graduate employees, as summarised by the concept of mutual unattractiveness, is supported by the experiences of graduates currently employed in smaller firms, and by the experiences of owner-managers that have employed them. The research specifically explores employer interpretations of graduate contributions and skills deficiencies, and graduate interpretations of training delivery and developmental practices. A qualitative approach enables the study to gain a deeper understanding of manager-graduate relations in small firms, while supplementary interviews with careers service, large firm and intermediary organisation representatives generates a multi-perspective approach appreciative of wider regional graduate employment access and engagement. The study finds that whilst graduate and employer experiences in many ways reinforce factors that deter both parties from engaging in such employment, their experience also demonstrates the positive rewards ensuing for both parties. This thesis illustrates how small firm graduate employment is complex and informed by comparative decisions. It also shows how recruitment decisions concerning small firm graduate employment require a more informed approach such that expectations may be managed accordingly.

An appreciative inquiry into the development of teacher well-being through organisational change : theory development and implications for practice

Brooks, Robert January 2015 (has links)
Occupational stress is known to be a primary factor in determining why teachers leave the profession. Schools face a critical challenge in retaining teachers, with attrition estimated to be roughly 10% per year (National Foundation for Educational Research, 2008). There is scant research dedicated to furthering ways of promoting teachers’ well-being as a protective factor against adversity, despite recognition that both teachers and pupils benefit (Roffey, 2012). Within a critical realist paradigm, this study examines the reflections of eight participants who took part in an Appreciative Inquiry (AI) that aimed to explore ways that teacher well-being could be improved in one Secondary School. A contextual description of the process is presented within an evaluative case study design. Qualitative semi-structured focus group data was analysed using Fereday & Muir-Cochrane’s (2006) hybrid thematic analysis. This allowed recent developments in AI theory to be tested, for contextual recommendations to be made regarding theory development, and for judgments to be made regarding the effectiveness of the approach. Findings support contemporary AI theory and highlight several noteworthy threats to practitioners who wish to use AI in schools. Consideration is given to the effectiveness of AI in planning change to promote teacher well-being.

Klinski, Cláudia dos Santos January 2009 (has links)
This work is the product of a survey included in recent field of knowledge, involving high school, vocational education and education of young people and adults. This integration comes from 2006, with the National Program for the Integration of Professional Education with Basic Education in the form of Youth and Adults - PROEJA under Federal Institutions of Education, Science and Technology (FI). The study was conducted at the Federal Institute South Rio Grande Campus Charqueadas. The commitment to this research was due to the scarcity of studies related to the public being served by PROEJA, given the distinctive character of this program. The study was to understand why students with high school and remained enrolled in a course designed to offer this level of education. Highlights some factors which led the subjects to this course, as the educational and professional trajectories drawn fibers, lack of training in the county option for those who have completed high school, the poor quality of school already attended by students, the image the IF as an institution of excellence in professional education, the selection process for entry into this course, the lottery system. The reasons listed by students, to seek the course of PROEJA are related mostly to improve their chances of entering the labor market. The study is characterized as a qualitative research methodology and how we used a semistructured interviews. To analyze the data collected, used the content analysis. Also studied the educational legislation on the subject. Being based on the data collected, it was possible to understand that the subjects who participated in the course looking for a training and were surprised when faced with the course was offered to them, sensing a difference between what they had designed and they have found. It appears that although they already had high school students have a profile very border with the students of adult education, and that these subjects have projects after completing their training, many of these projects came to be constructed from the training received.

Essays on the economics of education and labour

Morando, Greta January 2017 (has links)
Chapter 1 provides the first evaluation of a recent educational reform in England which reduced the content of the mathematics module studied by pupils aged 16-18. Using the National Pupil Database we look at the reform's impact on the probability that secondary school students will choose mathematics, and their attainment. We use information on previous academic achievement and other individual characteristics to understand which students have been mostly affected. We show that this reform sheds new light on one of the most important questions in education research: why women are less represented in STEM fields. In Chapter 2, we exploit variation in the labour demand to investigate whether the first job destination of graduates from different socio-economic backgrounds is differently affected by the business cycle. We use the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey and the Labour Force Survey across the period 2003-12. When the labour market is tight graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds are more likely to choose to study for a professional qualification. Those who become active labour market participants have more trouble finding a job, and those who find employment experience lower job quality. We provide evidence of the importance of social capital in explaining these findings. In Chapter 3 we contribute to a recent branch of the economic literature on how social integration affects labour market opportunities. This literature compares the labour market outcomes of ethnic minorities who are in a co-ethnic partnership to those who choose a partner in the majority population . An important pre-requisite of these analyses is the extent to which these two types of partnerships can be compared. We analyse this hypothesis formally using a propensity score approach in Understanding Society data. The characteristics of these partnerships are such that they should not be compared even within narrowly defined subgroups.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Educacao_Kamylla.pdf: 762670 bytes, checksum: d08ac239cf6ddd3e1b98d9a22037a815 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-08-09 / This study is part of line of research Education, Labor and Social Movements in the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Goiás and aims to research the health of workers in education, in order to investigate how is the relationship between teaching and teacher health, in the current climate of insecurity and alienation from work. Health is understood here as a historical and social construction, fraught with the contradictions between capital and labor. The field research was conducted in two public institutions in the city of Jaragua-Go, a network of state and other municipal and articulated the empirical data collection through questionnaires, semi-structured interview, daily observation and analysis of the institutions documents. These data were analyzed in light of the principles of dialectical historical materialism, based primarily on Marx, Mészáros, Mascarenhas, A., Frigotto, Saviani and Paro, seeking to articulate the research object and determining its multiple historical, political, economic, social and cultural . By analyzing these data according to the theoretical frameworks adopted understand that overcoming the existing limits that teachers can raise better working conditions, thus contributing to improving their health depends on establishing a political identity, able to uncover the processes disposal of the capitalist mode of production, based on the understanding that the work is very founding of the humanization of individuals.
