Using a qualitative research, it was possible to analyze in the speech of the people involved in that project if that initiative represents transformation and integration of those people into society. The starting point for such analysis were their life stories which allowed me to identify the defined categories -- sense of dignity and social transformation and to correlate them with the discourses in order to establish reflection upon the subject. Thus, the purpose of this research is to understand, through the discourse of the subjects involved, if the social initiative of the cooperative represents a movement of both change and structural transformation -- device of social inclusion -- or if it represents a supportive action, therefore just an adjustment in the life trajectory of a given subject. The field work was conducted using the participatory research methodology by means of a discourse analysis of daily conversations and their categorization with the subjects related to the phenomenon and to the social network of the cooperative. The place of data collection was the work environment of the subjects involved -- the cooperative COOPERCAPS -- where I had the opportunity to participate in the production and work environment of all cooperative shifts and sectors. In the survey, I identified the activities and the characteristics of the work and of its relationship network as well as the conditions related to the workers involved. The contribution I bring to the field allows a better understanding of that social initiative as a supposed device of structural change for citizenship integration, therefore better understanding the ways to enhance inclusion initiatives in order to create a more egalitarian society / A Pesquisa, formulada a partir do Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Psicologia Social, tem como objetivo fazer uma leitura acerca do sentido da inclusão social pelo trabalho formal na iniciativa de projeto social da Cooperativa de Coleta Seletiva da Capela do Socorro (COOPERCAPS) em São Paulo. Através da pesquisa qualitativa, foi possível analisar no discurso dos sujeitos envolvidos se essa iniciativa representa um dispositivo para a transformação e a integração deste sujeito à sociedade. Para tanto, parti das referências relatadas nas histórias de vida dos sujeitos envolvidos que possibilitaram identificar categorias definidas - noção de dignidade e transformação social - e correlacioná-las aos discursos a fim de estabelecer reflexão sobre o tema. Dessa forma, o objetivo da pesquisa é compreender, através do discurso dos sujeitos envolvidos, se a iniciativa social da cooperativa representou um movimento de mudança e transformação estrutural - dispositivo de inclusão social - ou se representa uma ação assistencial e, portanto, somente ajustamento na trajetória da vida de um determinado sujeito. O trabalho de campo foi desenvolvido através da metodologia da pesquisa participante, utilizando a análise de discursos das conversas cotidianas e categorização dessas com os sujeitos relacionados ao fenômeno e à rede social da cooperativa. O local da coleta de informação foi o ambiente de trabalho dos sujeitos envolvidos, a cooperativa COOPERCAPS, onde tive a oportunidade de participar do ambiente de produção e trabalho em todos os turnos e setores. Na pesquisa, identifiquei atividades e características do trabalho e da rede de relacionamentos na cooperativa, assim como as condições relacionadas aos trabalhadores envolvidos. A contribuição que trago através desta pesquisa permite uma melhor compreensão dessa iniciativa social presente como um suposto dispositivo de mudança estrutural na tendência de integração à cidadania e, assim, compreender quais serão os caminhos concretos para potencializar iniciativas de inclusão para uma sociedade mais igualitária
