COLOR LOCALE NELLA NELLA NARRATIVA REGIONALE ITALIANA DEL SECONDO OTTOCENTOBAITA, BRUNELLA 25 February 2016 (has links)
Our work aims at building a unitary, systematic tableau of the Italian narrative after Verga. We have focused on literary and language aspects <<because of the double feature of Verismo as an artistic writing where the research of theme and style influence each other in a tangled relationship>>. Tracing a real or presumed 'local color', we have examined over one hundred and fifty short stories ( 'In magna Sila' by Nicola Misasi; 'Novelle Napolitane' by Salvatore Di Giacomo; 'Dal vero' by Matilde Serao; 'Trecce nere' by Domenico Ciampoli; 'Terra vergine' by Gabriele D'Annunzio; 'In Provincia' by Mario Pratesi; 'Sotto gli alberi' by Emilio De Marchi; 'Le anime semplici. Storie umili' by Remigio Zena). The language has been studied based on norms and everyday usage of those times. The latter has been shaped through the works of scholars who have analyzed different aspects of the Italian language from the 19th century, in literature, journalism, and also in more colloquial, familiar letters. The section about literature preceding the portrait pictured above offers a comparative survey of the specific traits of Verga's Verismo according to the variations made, in the already mentioned collections of short stories, by the authors involved in this research.

Panovník v roli autora: Obraz anglosaského krále očima soudobých umělců a společnosti / The king as a writer: The image of Anglo-Saxon rulers in the perspective of contemporary artists and societyKantorová, Aneta January 2015 (has links)
The present thesis focuses on the importance of the written word as a ruling device of the Anglo- Saxon kings. Due to the availability of historical evidence, the studied period begins in 597 with the arrival of Christian missionaries from Rome and ends prior to the Norman Conquest in 1066. The kings' approach to the written word is analyzed on the basis of surviving literary and iconographic evidence, i.e. on documents composed for or by the rulers, and on the visual images of the rulers as portrayed in surviving manuscripts. The first chapter provides a historical background necessary for the correct interpretation of the examined texts and portraits. This section is aimed at the main concepts discussed in the thesis: medieval authorship, medieval kingship, and the spread of Christianity within the Anglo- Saxon kingdoms. The second chapter offers the analysis of written documents and focuses on the texts composed within the scope of King Alfred's educational and religious reform. The close reading of the OE translations demonstrates the king's use of the texts as didactic tools mainly serving to promote religion and learning within the kingdom. The key texts are Gregory's Pastoral Care, Augustine's Soliloquies, and Boethius's Consolation of Philosophy; an additional context of the king's life and...

Slovotvorba v německo-českém slovníku / Word Formation in German-Czech DictionaryŠemelík, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The present thesis is based on my experience as one of the contributors to The Large Academic Dictionary German-Czech. It attempts to discuss the role of word formation in German-Czech dictionaries in that it focuses on presentation of word formation in outer texts, macrostructural ordering procedures, treatment of word forming elements, special word formation parts of dictionary entries and possibilities of typography as a means word formation description in a bilingual dictionary. The approach taken is both contemplative and transformative. The thesis rests on the study of existing German-Czech dictionaries published mostly after 1945, partly between 1802 and 1945 as well. Concrete function-based proposals centred on the supposed target users of the LADGC are discussed here. A considerable part of the thesis deals with German derived nouns in Ge-...(-e) seen from a corpus linguistic view.

Communicative strategies used by witnesses of the Leon and Phumaphi Commissions of Enquiry in LesothoMabena, Mamponi Irene 01 1900 (has links)
Text in English with summaries in English, South Sotho and Xhosa / Bibliography: leaves 196-215 / This study explored the communicative strategies which were used by participants who were
called in as witnesses before the Leon Commission and the Phumaphi Commission of Enquiry
in Lesotho in 1998 and 2015 respectively. The study specifically looked into the types of
communicative strategies employed, their linguistic realisations and their conversational
effectiveness in providing required information to the commissions. It further compared the
use of strategies by participants in both commissions. Data for this study was obtained from
twenty-six audio recordings of twenty-six witnesses. The study established that participants
used twelve types of communicative strategies which are classified under the following groups
based on their functional characteristics: conversational category which includes strategies
such as code-switching, fillers, vague language and circumlocution; a grammatical category
that comprises personal pronouns, direct speech, passive voice and questioning; a sociocultural
category that covers strategies such as figurative language, indirect communication, direct
refusal and indirect criticism. The study established that communicative strategies such as
code-switching, fillers, personal pronouns, and direct quoting were conversationally effective
as participants strategically employed them to succinctly express themselves. However,
strategies with concealing attributes such as those found under a sociocultural category and
those under the grammatical category (passive voice and questioning) were considered
conversationally ineffective as they withheld required information from the commissioners.
The study further established that participants of the latter commission were even more
unwilling to reveal information than those of the former, which suggests a growing
unwillingness to share information to commissions of enquiry. / Phuputso ena e hlahlobile maano a puisano a neng a sebediswa ke dipaki ka pela Komishene

ababemenyiwe ukuba bathathe inxaxheba njengamangqina kwiKhomishoni yoPhando KaLeon
eyenzeka ngo1998 kunye neKhomishoni kaPhumaphi eyenzeka ngonyaka ka2015. Olu phando
luye lwaqalasela ezindlela zokuqhakamishelana ezisetyenziswe apha, ukusetyenziswa kolwimi
kunye nobuchule bokuthetha kula mangqina ngethuba enikeza ubungqina kwezi khomishoni.
Olu phando luphinde lwathelekisa indlela amangqina asebenzise ngazo ezindlela
zoqhakamishelwano kwezi khomishoni zombini. Ingqokelela-lwazi yolu phando ithathwe
kumangqina angamashumi amabini anesithandathu apho kushicilelwe izimvo zawo kwezi

zonxebelelwano ezingamashumi amabini. Obu buchule beendlela zonxebebelwano ziqukwa
ngokokusebenza kwazo ekuthetheni ngolu hlobo lulandelayo: ukuncokola okuquka ukuthetha

apho bathetha besebenzisa iinkcazelo ezisuka kwiinckubeko zabo, ukungathethi nqo ngenxa
yemo yabo yentlalo nokuthetha, ukungafuni ukuthetha ngenxa yezizimo zentlalo nenkcubeko
kunye nokugxeka ngendlea ekwekwayo ngenxa yezizimo zentlalo nenkcubeko. Olu phando
lubonise ukuba obu buchule beendlela zokuthetha lusetyenziswe ngamangqina ezi khomishoni

nokukhuza, aphinda acaphula. Ngowekenza ngolu hlobo, amanqina abanokalisile ukuba ezi
ndlela zobuchule bokuthetha zincedisene nomsebenzi wezi khomishoni ngoba amangqina
akwazile ukubangamaciko ekuchazeni izimvo zawo. Nangona kunjalo, ezinye iindlela

iinkcukaca ezibalulekileyo kwezi khomishoni ngenxa yoku. Olu phando luphinde
lwabonakalisa ukuba amangqina weKhomishoni loPhando kaPhumaphi aye awodlula
amangiqna weKhomishoni kaLeon ngokungafuni ukunikeza ngobungqina obuthile. Le nto ibirhanelisa ukuba bekukho umoya apha kwamangqina wokungafuni ncam ukunikeza
