Smysl života v Juliiných otázkách / The meaning of life in the July´s questions

PRAŽÁKOVÁ, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
The thesis deals with search for the meaning of human life in present time from the philosophical and theological point of view of Egon Bondy. Bondy perceives a human being as a biological and intellectual unity in which the peak of evolution has been reached. However, as to Bondy, this ?peak? has to be overcome, humans have to transcend and renew their humanity, otherwise they would get stuck at the place momentary reached where they are not happy and stand without any meaning. Bondy brings the concept of a ?non-substance model? of ontological reality, in which the attempts to find a common path for both theology and philosophy. This way we can also follow Egon Bondy?s development from atheism to the acceptance of ?living God?. Bondy reaches the opinion that human faith in God and the reception of grace offer person?s life the feeling of fulfilment which contemporary humanity has been so much lacking. Bondy hints at his spiritual experience of ?splendour inside?, where he could feel that the meaning of life cannot be reached by one?s own activity or just ?ordered?. The meaning of life can only be humbly expected.

Meaning in Life and Psychological Wellness among Latino Immigrants: Role of Attachment, Belongingness, and Hope

Shelton, Andrew Jonathan 08 1900 (has links)
Guided by attachment theory and principles of positive psychology, a conceptual model was developed depicting the direct and indirect effects of attachment insecurity, state hope, belongingness, and meaning in life on wellness indicators (i.e., life satisfaction, physical health, and depression) of first generation Latino immigrants in the U.S. Specifically, the present study proposed that the effects of attachment insecurity on Latino immigrants' wellness would be mediated by two tiers of factors. The first tier consisted of state hope (i.e., general state hope, spiritual state hope, mastery state hope) and sense of belonging (i.e., general belongingness; connectedness with mainstream/ethnic community), which represented individual-level and relational factors, respectively, salient in Latino culture. Greater attachment insecurity was hypothesized to contribute to a compromised MIL and poorer wellness by decreasing state hope and sense of belongingness. A total of 352 first-generation Latino immigrants from Texas participated in this study. The exploratory factor analysis on the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale revealed a two-factor factor structure that is different from the two factors of adult attachment typically found with American samples (i.e., anxiety and avoidance). The emerged two factors represent anxious-distancing attachment and comfort-seeking attachment. Results from structural equation modeling analysis showed adequate model fit with the data. The final model indicated that the effects of comfort-seeking attachment on wellness were fully mediated by two layers of mediators (belongingness and state hope as the first layer and meaning in life as the second layer). In addition, the effect of anxious-distancing attachment on wellness was fully mediated by belongingness and meaning in life but not through state hope. Bootstrap methods were used to assess the significance magnitude of these indirect effects. Comfort-seeking attachment explained 13% of the variance in state hope and both attachment variables explained 36% of the variance in sense of belongingness. Anxious-distancing attachment, comfort-seeking attachment, state hope, and sense of belongingness explained 78% of the variance in meaning in life, and the overall model explained 75% of the variance in wellness. Limitations, future directions, and implications for counseling and theory are discussed from attachment theory, positive psychology, and immigration perspectives.

Sentido de vida y fuentes de sentido en una muestra de Lima y provincias durante la cuarentena por el COVID-19 / Meaning in life and sources of meaning in a sample of lima and provinces during the covid-19 quarantine

Pérez Osores, Michel Eduardo Armando 10 December 2020 (has links)
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between meaning in life and the sources of meaning in life during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine. 424 volunteers participated (53.1% women and 46.9% men) aged between 18 and 65 years. This is a correlational quantitative investigation. The applied instruments were a sociodemographic datasheet, the MLQ, a 10-item instrument that measures the presence and search for meaning, and the PMP-B, a 21-item instrument that measures seven sources of meaning: relationships, intimacy, achievement, self-acceptance, self-transcendence, fair treatment and religion. The results indicate that the presence of meaning is positively and significantly associated with self-transcendence (r = .51) and achievement (r = .50). The male participants presented higher levels of presence of meaning compared to the women. Likewise, adults over 60 years of age had higher scores in self-transcendence, fair treatment and self-acceptance. It is concluded that the meaning of life is a protective factor against the crisis and uncertainty of the pandemic through the sources of meaning of life. At this juncture, self-transcendence and achievement are variables that were significantly associated with the presence of meaning. / Tesis

Smysl v práci. Motivace pracovníků vybraných nízkoprahových zařízení pro děti a mládež / Purpose at work. Motivations of Workers of Selected Low-threshold Facilities for Children and Youth

Valentová, Michaela January 2022 (has links)
Purpose at work. Motivations of Workers of Selected Low-threshold Facilities for Children and Youth Bc. Michaela Valentová Abstract Diploma thesis focuses on the experience of purposefulness of employees of low- threshold facilities for children and youth. In theoretical part low-threshold facilities are firstly conceptualized as a part of Czech organized civil society. Secondly, relevant theories of purpose are introduced. In empirical part, qualitative research is conducted by in-depth interviews with nine employees of two typical civil society organizations. Workers of low-threshold facilities for children and youth construct their purpose around four categories: helping clients, professionality, work ethics and self-development. Each of these categories brings specific consequences for their organizations. The theory expects purpose to be inspirational for others, however research participants do not reflect on the possibility to inspire their clients that way. This work suggests it is caused by workers' strong emphasis on professionality which creates borders in relationships between clients and workers and also limits the possibility to inspire one another with purpose. Keywords low-threshold facility for children and youth, civil society organization, CSO, non-profit organization, mission, meaning of...
