Design of Application Specific Microcontroller / Design av applikationsspecifik mikrocontroller

This master thesis describes the process of designing an application specific microcontroller. The microcontroller should be used in a demonstrator for a protocol processor. The demonstrator should show the possibilities to access high speed networks with small processor cores. The demonstrator should be able to receive and playback an audio stream. Some of the tasks in the demonstrator should be performed by the microcontroller. It should handle ARP requests, buffer handling and sending audio samples to a stereo codec. Behavioral models for these applications were constructed and used to design the instruction set for the microcontroller. An instruction set simulator was constructed. It was used to verify that the instruction set was sufficient to achieve functional coverage. The micro architecture for the microcontroller was designed and implemented in VHDL. This implementation was verified by simulation. The test vectors used during simulation were mainly randomly generated.

This thesis deals with the transmission of information over the Ethernet network. In this work a suitable microcontroller and a communication module were selected. The Module provides data transfer from Ethernet to SPI bus. Furthermore an optimal digital temperature sensor DS1820 was chosen. Theoretically it describes the model TCP / IP and the Ethernet type network . In this thesis a block circuit diagram is created, further an electrical wiring diagram and a printed circuit board were constructed. In the programming environment BascomAVR a program is compiled, which is used to transfer information from the microcontroller via Ethernet to a website.

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of plasma generators. Specificantlly, the work focuses on the design of HMI devices for plasma generators, including the design of the control part of the generator. The main advantage of controlling the plasma generator using an HMI device is the ability to quickly change important parameters. The HMI device allows convenient switching of the generator output frequency without the need to interfere with the wiring, which leads to higher efficiency when working with the plasma generator. Another advantage of the HMI device is the display of all important information on the LCD display. The work deals with the basic theory of plasma and its use, the division of microcontrollers and the description of their peripherals, the selection of components used and their wiring. The last part of the work is devoted to the software of the plasma generator.

This diploma thesis deals with heating control over GSM network with the goal to design and realize HW include programs for microcontrollers. The whole system consists of two units, the GSM units and the thermostat. Compared to the assignment the functions of the GSM unit were extended. Now the GSM unit contains other inputs and outputs what significantly increases usage and number of applications. These inputs and outputs can be used for example for connecting alarm system and remote control of other devices. The thermostat is programmable and allows manual control by four button and LCD character display and it also can be controlled via RS485. Both units have been successfully realized and tested.
