Teixeira, Fabio Eberhardt 26 August 2016 (has links)
In recent years, the metal industries are facing competition its manufactured items. Orientador: Sergio Tonini Button / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Mecanica / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-14T01:34:38Z (GMT). Estão contidos os resultados obtidos com a aplicação experimental na Perdigão, empresa do ramo de frigorífico de abate e processamentos de aves e suínos / Abstract: The modernization process of the technological and organizational fields of industry has been determining the demand for professionals with larger training awareness to act in planning, organization and supervision of the productive process of the companies. The business world is nowadays demanding a professional that not just dominates the specific technical content of his own activity, but also, in the same way, shows critical capacity, autonomy to manage his own tasks, team work skills and even solve with creativity challenging situations in the professional area chosen. The generalization of micro computing use, the understanding of the work as something beyond technical knowledge, involving communicative and behavioral ability ; the need of knowledge transference among different professional areas, demand the structuring of a renewed professional education, in constant synchrony to the movements of the productive section. As a consequence, it is natural that a training program of production leaders at present time is ruled by the new demands disputed by the sections of production of the new industry. The production section, heart of the industrial companies, started to demand special attention in terms the qualification of the people who lead those sections. Therefore, it is necessary to consider in the structuring of a program for the new production leader's training, the clear definition of the wanted professional profile and the knowledge, abilities and necessary attitudes for the exercise of the function. So, the author presents a program for Training Leaders of Productive Processes - (TLPP) as a way to contribute to the industrial segment in the qualification of people that command production lines. / Computer simulation applied to the planning and design of the body shop in the automotive industry.

Marcelo Augusto Barbosa Fernandes 11 December 2009 (has links)
The market opening to newcomers in Brazil during the 1990s has increased the local automotive industry competition and the search for new products, technologies and mainly for leaner and financially feasible processes. Within that context, the need to reduce new product development timing has made it necessary to minimize the development period for manufacturing processes. Planning and developing manufacturing operations are complex processes, once they involve different areas in a company and they demand high investment and peculiar technologies. The Manufacturing Engineering is the area in the company that takes over the responsibility for planning, designing and implementing new manufacturing processes for new products. The main objective of that work is define concepts and apply the process simulation on the planning and designing steps of manual and automatic production lines by using computer tools. The target will be the body shop area where the automation and complexity degrees are higher. The advantages of using such tools during the planning and designing phases are not only the reduction of investment and process introduction timing but also the early identification of production bottlenecks, as well as the definition of line buffers that directly affect the process cycles and variable costs. The presented concepts are validated through cases of Volkswagen of Brazil and involving the launching of vehicles such as the new Gol and Voyage and series models like the Polo.

The impact of maintenance management software in a process environment

Badela, Ghandi 20 August 2012 (has links)
M.Ing. / Companies are seeking innovative ways of enhancing their competitiveness in their markets. Currently, one of the ways used to improve competitiveness by companies in a process environment is to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning system. An Enterprise Resource Planning system is a software system that automates and integrates data and information captured in an organisation. An analysis of the impact of implementing a maintenance management system depends on a number of factors that may include capabilities of chosen system, effective application and ownership of the system by those who use it. Central to implementation of a maintenance system is the maintenance philosophy adopted by an organisation, information system in place, availability of skilled maintenance personnel and execution of developed maintenance program. The implementation process itself also has a bearing on acceptance of the system by those who are supposed to use it. A review of literature on these important factors and on development of an Enterprise Resource Planning system was conducted to show influence each factor has in making maintenance activities effective. To determine the impact of implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning system in a process environment a case study on a company that has recently implemented such a system was conducted. From this case study recommendations on a number of issues were made.

A unified rapid-prototyping development framework for the control, command, and monitoring of unmanned aerial vehicles

Claassens, Samuel David 31 July 2012 (has links)
M.Ing. / This investigation explores the applicability of an adapted formal computational model for rapid synthesis of complete UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) systems in a single unified environment. The proposed framework termed XPDS (Cross-Platform Data Server) incorporates principles from a variety of similar, successful languages such as Giotto and Esterel. Application of such models has been shown to be advantageous in the UAV control system domain. The proposed solution extends the principles to the complete generic crafts/ground station problem and provides a unified framework for the development of distributed, scalable, and predictable solutions. The core of the framework is a hybrid FLET (Fixed Logical Execution Time) computational model which formalises the timing and operation of a number of concurrent processes or tasks. Three mechanisms are built upon the computational model – a design environment, simulation extensions, and code generation functionality. A design environment is proposed which permits a user to operate through an intuitive interface. The simulation extensions provide tight integration into established software such as Mathwork’s MatLab and Austin Meyer’s X-Plane. The code generation framework allows XPDS programs to be potentially converted into source for a variety of target systems. The combination of the three mechanisms and the formal computational model allow stakeholders to incrementally construct, test, and verify a complete UAV system. An implementation of the proposed framework is constructed to verify the proposed design. Initially, the implementation is subjected to a number of experiments that show that it is a valid representation of the specification. A simplified helicopter stability control system, based upon the problem statement from the initial literature review, is then presented as a test case and the solution is subsequently developed in XPDS. The scenario is successfully constructed and tested through the framework, demonstrating the validity of the proposed solution. The investigation demonstrates that it is both possible and beneficial to develop UAV systems in a single, unified environment. The incorporation of a formal computational model leads to rapid development of predictable solutions. The numerous systems are also easily integrated and benefit from features such as modularity and reusability.

A model for transparent data exchange in layered manufacturing

Van Niekerk, G. J. 13 August 2008 (has links)
The primary aim of this dissertation is to provide a platform and format-neutral exchange mechanism for Layered Manufacturing (LM) and Telemanufacturing. The current exchange standard is the Stereolithography (STL) file format. The format is notoriously prone to error and frequently causes problems during the process-planning stage. The format exclusively uses a triangular boundary representation as a mathematical model and therefore lacks accuracy for models that exhibit curved features [Van00]. The goal of this thesis is therefore two-fold. Firstly, a short-term solution needs to be implemented as a stopgap measure, while a long-term solution is realised. The long-term solution will hopefully fill the communication gap caused by the STL format. A short-term solution needs to extend the capabilities of the STL format. This will compensate for the discrepancies and will allow the STL format to keep up with the requirements of the industry, while a more permanent solution is developed. In this thesis, a stopgap measure in the form of STL-Extended is proposed. STL-Extended or STL-E is a technique that redefines the semantic properties of redundant information in the existing STL file. This allows additional information to be embedded within a STL file and facilitates the storage of models more accurately. The main aim of STL-E is to remain backwards compatible with legacy hardware and software. Although this does not address the flaws that the format exhibits, it provides the most transparent integration possible. A long-term solution is proposed in the form of the Data Exchange Framework for Layered Manufacturing (DEF4LM or just DEF). This is not a new LM file format, but a platform that would allow any format that is used by the industry to potentially become an exchange standard between designer and bureau. In essence, the platform redefines the mathematical model (representation technique) as the common denominator between abstractions, as opposed to the computer model (file format). DEF4LM constitutes a four-layer architecture, which includes the Data Layer, Implementation Layer, System Layer and the Application Layer. The Data Layer represents the actual computer model being used and serves as the carrier medium for the model. The Implementation Layer consists of a descriptor and a properties file. These two elements are used to describe the syntax and the semantics of a specific file format. The various data structures are extracted and passed to the System Layer, which in turn, passes the extracted data structures to the Application Layer. The Application Layer includes the LM process-planning system, as well as the hardware and controlling software. A complementary study also conducted as part of this thesis, investigates the feasibility of a genetic algorithm to generate tool-paths for extrusion-based LM technology. The technique evolves unique tool-paths and is guided by a fitness function that includes elements that optimise for surface quality and material deposition. / Prof. E.M. Ehlers
