Effects of Videotape Playback on Causal Attribution in Distressed Couples

Thompson, Ron Allan 05 1900 (has links)
A videotape playback treatment was investigated in the present study with regard to its effects on acceptance of responsibility for conflict in distressed couples. Three major hypotheses were tested. The first hypothesis that subjects given videotape playback of their pretherapy sessions would show a significant increase in self-attribution was supported. The second hypothesis that subjects who received videotape playback of their pretherapy sessions would show a significant increase in the frequency of self-attributional statements was also supported. Results of the present study did not support the final hypothesis that following a significant increase in self-attribution. It was concluded that videotape playback may provide an effective means of facilitating acceptance of responsibility for conflict in distressed couples. The implication for practitioners is that videotape playback could accelerate the marital therapy process through facilitation of the acceptance of responsibility.

Casais em segunda união: desafio e encaminhamentos pastorais

Alessandro Almeida Colen 06 January 2012 (has links)
The processes of secularization which the country has undergone have made visible progress in the number of couples who separate and return to live in marital union. This situation does not reduce their willingness and desire to join a community of faith. Thus it causes a climate of pastoral need in order to assist these couples, who are in hard and sometimes very delicate and conflicting conditions. Therefore, every day we see the creation of pastorals that are ready to walk together and provide the Gospel service of solidarity with the couples on a second marriage. In this task, this dissertation attempts to point out some possibilities for therapeutic help, talking to couples therapy in an analytical way and pastoral counseling, referencing also the position of the Roman Catholic Church and its pastoral guidelines.

Testing of a Design for Client Evaluation of a Conciliation Service

Dudley, James A., Euler, James C., Njoroge, Peter, Streissguth, Richard 01 January 1972 (has links)
This study is an attempt to develop, design, and implement procedures for better data collection in the future and for an evaluation of the services provided in the past. Conciliation Courts have developed across the country on the notion that case work services can, at best, save a marriage from divorce and, at least, can do no harm. Evaluation of the effectiveness of conciliation services is limited and contradictory. This practicum is an attempt to develop a research design which can measure the effectiveness of conciliation service. We consider the first priority to develop a workable design which will insure response. A second priority, which will hopefully be developed next, is a value system which will give us data concerning what is effectiveness and which kinds of things need to be and can be measured by a client feedback system .

Sex-Role Stereotyping in Marital Counseling Sex- Role Style and Type of Problem Effects on Clinical Judgments

Woodruff, James Graham 05 1900 (has links)
The analogue study was designed to extend previous research on clinical sex-role stereotyping of individual clients into the realm of marital counseling. The effects of clinician and couple sex-role style and type of marital problem on clinical judgements of couples was examined through ratings of four audiotaped couples constructed from two scripts depicting either couple financial or sexual problems. Each script produced both a stereotypical and counterstereotypical sex-role styled couple through reversal of spouse verbalizations. A sample of 40 (32 male, 8 female) practicing doctorate-level psychologists rated either two stereotypical or two counterstereotypical couples for level of maladjustment, need for treatment, and prognosis. Individual spouse ratings were also obtained to examine client gender effects.
