Marital Satisfaction and Parental Stress

Hess, JIll 01 May 2008 (has links)
This study examined the correlations between marital satisfaction (MS) and parental stress (PS). The Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale (KMSS) was used to measure marital satisfaction. Parental stress was measured at the same time through the use of the Parent Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF). Twenty-seven traditionally married couples were recruited through the CCAMPIS Grant at Utah State University. Minimum criteria were that at least one of the couple needed to be eligible for Pell grants, registered full time at Utah State University, and have at least one child. This study found that MS and PS correlate in many ways, most significantly in the areas of parental distress and parent child interactions. We found that the variance in mothers’ MS was correlated with fathers’ MS and fathers’ interaction with the target child. Fathers’ MS was correlated with mothers’ MS. (69 pages)

Relationship of Premarital Pregnancy to Marital Satisfaction and Personal Adjustment

Rudolph, Diana Cox 08 1900 (has links)
Discriminant function analysis was performed on data from 87 female volunteers who were between the ages of 21 and 53 years old and who had been married at least one time. Sixty-two of the subjects had no history of premarital pregnancy; 18 subjects had been pregnant when they married; and seven subjects had an induced abortion before marriage. All groups were discriminated (p < .05) by the variables of marital adjustment, lack of emotional vulnerability, masculinity, chance locus of control, powerful others locus of control, and number of marriages. Women with a history of premarital pregnancy were less satisfied with their present or most recent marriage and tended to have had more marriages; they also were higher on belief in chance, lower on belief in powerful others, lower on instrumentality and more lacking in emotional vulnerability than were women without history of premarital pregnancy. The two groups with history of premarital pregnancy were discriminated (p < .05) by marital adjustment and lack of emotional vulnerability. Women who married when pregnant were less satisfied with their present or most recent marriage and were more emotionally vulnerable than were women who had abortions prior to marriage.

Исследование манипулятивного общения супругов, удовлетворенных в браке : магистерская диссертация / Research on manipulative communication in the couples satisfied by the marriage

Kim, A. A., Ким, А. А. January 2014 (has links)
The research work analyzes the manipulation as a kind of influence and its special characteristics applying to the marital relations. It is clear that the scientific representation of the issue is ambivalent: there are manipulation as a marriage destroying force and as a partnership-building capacity. The work is based on the empirical investigation on the “young” and “mature” couples satisfied by the marriage that show up the manipulative techniques. Due to that were identified the mind games typically used by husbands and wives.

Belewenis van moeders van ATHV-leerders

Van Wyk, Margaretha Elizabeth 30 June 2004 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the experiences of mothers of primary school learners diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The main determinant of parenting stress was contained in the primary symptoms of ADHD, namely, attention deficit, hyperactivity and impulsive behaviour, as well as in the disruptive effects on others in the immediate environment. The three primary symptoms of ADHD as listed above, often result in such secondary problems as learning deficiencies, poor self-image and inadequate social relations. Seven mothers of learners with ADHD were selected to participate in the empirical investigation. A qualitative research model was employed with specific use of a list of questions, participatory perception and unstructured interviews. Results obtained from the empirical research indicated that the symptoms of ADHD as manifested by the learners, as well as the accompanying secondary problems, impacted negatively on the mothers of these learners. / Educational Studies / M.
