Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Author Barbora Boltnarová Supervisor PharmDr. Jan Kostriba, Ph.D. Title of Diploma Thesis Analysis of Counterfeit Medicines from the Perspective of Medicines Policy Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this diploma thesis was the analysis of the counterfeiting of medicinal products and a summary of the most critical topics and issues related to this illegal activity. Another purpose of the theoretical part was the mapping of trends in counterfeiting of medicinal products on the domestic and world scale and to compile a summary of the instruments used to combat counterfeiting of medicinal products. The aim of the practical part was the analysis of the reports of falsified medicinal products and to compare the obtained results with hypotheses based on theoretical knowledge. Methods: The data was obtained by analyzing the reports of counterfeit medicinal products published by State Institute for Drug Control in the period from 2nd March 2006 to 14th November 2017. Altogether, 115 reports from the Czech Republic and from abroad were analyzed. The aim of the present paper is to study the processes related to rare diseases and SUS s medicines policies. The study is predominantly exploratory and of qualitative nature. The methodological approach was the collection of secondary data at Web of Science, and primary data collected with the participation of eleven respondents sampled fromhealth professionals based on referral centers and patients with rare diseases. Main results of the study indicate: 1) Gaps in academic production related to public health policies for rare diseases 2) Need for development and improvement in health management and professional training of health managers. The conclusion is that the development of pharmaceutical services structure constitutes one of the major challenges that managers and professionals in the SUS face to assist patients with rare diseases, either because of the financial resources involved or the need for continuous improvement in search for new strategies for its management and new processes geared to high-cost medicines and rare diseases / A estrutura da assistência farmacêutica no Sistema Único de Saúde vem sendo considerada nos últimos anos uma estratégia para o aumento e qualificação do acesso da população aos medicamentos essenciais. Esta dissertação tem como principal objetivo estudar os processos relacionados às doenças raras e às políticas de medicamentos do SUS. É um estudo de natureza exploratória e predominantemente qualitativo. A abordagem metodológica utilizada foi a coleta de dados secundários, na base da Web of Science, e de dados primários com a participação de onze entrevistados, profissionais de saúde de Centros de Referência á portadores de doenças raras. Os principais resultados do estudo apontam para: 1) Lacunas na produção acadêmicas relacionadas às políticas públicas de saúde para as doenças raras; 2) Necessidade de aperfeiçoamento e melhoria nos processos de gestão e no preparo profissional dos gestores de saúde. Conclui-se que, a estruturação da assistência farmacêutica constitui-se em um dos grandes desafios que se apresenta a gestores e profissionais do SUS quanto a assistência aos portadores de doenças raras, quer pelos recursos financeiros envolvidos, quer pela necessidade de aperfeiçoamento contínuo com busca de novas estratégias em seu gerenciamento e novos processos voltados aos medicamentos de alto custo e doenças raras
