Hedin, Kajsa January 2020 (has links)
Background: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare but serious disease with symptoms as dyspnea, fatigue and intolerance to exercise. The treatment is mainly pharmacological with physical exercise as an important complement. The 6 minutes walking test (6MWT) is used today worldwide for assessment and follow-up of the PAH patient. Objective: The aim of this study was to, among a PAH-population in Norrland, examine the 6-minutes walking test variables walking distance, ∆dyspnea and Δsaturation according to change over time and correlation between the variables. A further objectice was to examine any differences between four different PAH risk groups according to ∆dyspné och Δsat. Method:  This study is a retrospective register study based on the Umeå/Sundsvall part of the Swedish patient registry SPAHR. A total of 69 patients were examined at the time of diagnosis and at follow-up after 12 ± 3 months regarding 6MWT. Results: A significantly longer walkning distance was measured at follow-up comepared to baseline (284 m (IQR 187-410) vs 322 m (IQR 240 - 435), p < 0,001). A negative but weak correlation existed  at baseline between walking distance and Δsat (r = -0.23, p= 0.022) and at follow-up (r = -0.27, p= 0.033). No significant difference regarding Δsaturation and Δdyspnea could be seen between the risk groups.  Conclusion: Also this study demonstrates that the walking distance is the measure that is seen to vary over time, while Δsaturation and Δdyspnea have not been shown to do so. The weak correlation that could be detected between walking distance and Δsaturation raises the idea that it may be a factor that strengthens or weakens the result measured in meters and could thus possibly increase the informational value of the 6MWT. However, the results of this study indicate that desaturation and estimated dyspnea are not factors that correlate with the walking distance (and thus the patient's functional working capacity). Other variables such as quality of life and fear of movement may need to be estimated by the patient group to be able to evaluate and plan both pharmacological treatment and physical exercise, and to see if it can predict the outcome of the treatment. This should be studied scientifically.

Retextualização: da escrita para a fala e da fala para a escrita - o caso das atas / Retextualization: from speech to writing and from writing to speech the case of the minutes

Alves, Fabiane de Oliveira 13 March 2015 (has links)
This research aims at addressing the study of orality and literateness, when it comes to the retextualization of spoken to written language and vice-versa. To that end, some of the materials produced by ConsEPE - Conselho de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão (Teaching, Research and Outreach Council) of Universidade Federal do ABC (Federal University of ABC) will be collated. The corpus is made up of three parts: a written rapporteurship, which consists in an evaluative assessment of a document or subject; a transcript of the audio recordings of its presentation in a ConsEPE session; and the excerpt of the minute of the session, corresponding to that presentation. The chosen materials were selected because they allow an analysis of aspects of both speech and writing. One of the hypotheses which direct this research is that the transposition/retextualization of coinciding modalities preserve similar characteristics, whereas different modalities demonstrate different aspects, even though, in both cases, the essence of the content is maintained, as with the corpus in analysis. Additionally, it has been found, with the support of Peter Koch and Wulf Oesterreichers continuum theory, which was disseminated in Brazil by Luiz Antônio Marcuschi and Hudinilson Urbano, that there is a gradient between the poles of speech and writing (or immediacy and distance). It became apparent that aspects of speech and writing intertwine to a greater or lesser gradient, depending on what one intends to produce, as to the objective, effect and result expected from a given communication. In addition, there are the matters of the processes by which a discourse undergoes when it is retextualized. Having these objectives and outcomes been achieved, it is expected that this dissertation will add to the study of the relationships between speech and writing in a practical way.

Blomqvist, Linnea January 2012 (has links)
Abstract Investigation physical activity in a population gives descriptive data and the result serves as a measuring instrument for how future interventions ought to be designed. The purpose of this study was to see whether any associations existed between three examination instruments for physical activity that are used with children with overweight. Method: The participants were measured, weighed, estimated their physical activity (questionnaire), testing their physical performance (six-minute walking test) and their physical activity was measured (accelerometer). Results: Eight girls, aged 7-13, body mass index of 26 ± 3.7, participated. The majority of the children estimated to be physically active for 30-60 min/day, during weekdays and weekends, but seen as a group the estimation was significantly lower on the weekend. Their physical performance showed a significantly lower value than the predicted value. The children performed on average for 67 ± 24 min / day during the week and significantly less (31 ± 29.7 min / day) on weekends. A significant association existed between performed physical activity during weekdays and the performance test. A formula for how this relationship could be calculated was designed. Conclusion: Despite low numbers of participants the result of the study could indicate that 6MWT can be used not only for assessing the performance but also to calculate the executed amount of activity during weekdays.

European Aviation Crisis Management

Ahlin, Katarina, Bredin, Sanna January 2013 (has links)
Our aim is to investigate and evaluate the efficiency of crisis management in European aviation, and to recommend enhancements. To fulfill this, we mapped the current crisis management plans and created a fictive scenario where a cyber-attack shut down the power at five of the major airports in Europe. Air traffic in Europe was reconstructed to a chosen day; the 16th of September 2013, and the reconstructed traffic situation was used in the scenario. We also created a model, for the purpose of showing the effect of a cut in time for the steps in the crisis management plan may have on the traffic waiting to depart at the closed airports. When using these means, we could implement the crisis management plans on the fictive scenario and make changes to the plans for a new implementation. The existing crisis management plans were compared to the modified plans made by us, and it was found that usage of a common platform for the different stakeholders involved in the crisis could improve the efficiency of the crisis management.

January 2010 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The present work has as main objective to present the results obtained in the Master's Degree research about the Terminology recurrent on minutes of assemblies submitted for sworn translation from French to Portuguese. Thus, we employed a corpus of study composed by translated minutes of assemblies (named by us CTTJ, Corpus of Translated Texts by Sworn form). This corpus was conceded to us by public translators registered in the Sao Paulo State Commercial Registry (JUCESP). In order to analyze the terms extracted from CTTJ and their validation in the natural context of use, we also used other two corpora: one formed by minutes originally written in Portuguese (CTOP, Corpus of written Text Originally written in Portuguese) and the other formed by minutes originally written in French (CTOF, Corpus of written Texts originally in French). We also preceded a survey based on CTOP for completing our term list, whereas we are aimed to display the results of the analysis in a glossary form focused for translators. These surveys were accomplished with help of Hyperbase software through which an alphabetical order list of the corpus' words was obtained followed of their co-text. Reflections about the bilingual terminological equivalence emerged from the analysis of the conceptual content of the recurrent terms and the search for their French equivalents. It was proven in the work that, even broaching a relatively restrict domain, the equivalence among terms of two languages it is not always total, also generating partial equivalence and non equivalence. Through the research, questions emerged about the way of treating the terminological data and these differences among terms of both languages in a bilingual glossary. One of the main results of our work was the elaboration of a Portuguese-French glossary of the terms from de domain of assembly minutes which was presented... Examining the Impact of Canadian Political Satire Shows on Generation Y: A Qualitative Investigation of This Hour Has 22 Minutes

Attalla, Jessica January 2015 (has links)
In contemporary society, political satire shows are prominent programs that seem to resonate with the viewing public. This thesis seeks to observe the meanings that generation Y attach to the Canadian political satire show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Focusing on the Canadian context, this research examines how members of generation Y view political satire shows, specifically This Hour Has 22 Minutes and if this show caters to their attitudes, concerns and interests more so than traditional news media. The theoretical framework guiding this study is the uses and gratifications theory. This research implements a qualitative phenomenological research approach in the form of focus groups. This study concludes that this generation still maintains, however, that when looking to be informed, they connect more with traditional news media given that these programs provide them with all the facts and stories in a more reliable manner. This study contributes to the field of communication because it demonstrates the rationale and experiences of generation Y in relation to political news.
