A Study of Mobile Guide System for Local Culture Industry Development by Using Technology Acceptance Model.

Lin, Pao-Hui 09 August 2010 (has links)
Mobile Guide System has usually applied to enclosed spaces such as museums or exposition halls, but the prosperity of internet has made mobile application a trend. Then how it could be possible to make good use of mobile guide system in order to strengthen the dispersion of culture values, vibrate industrial economy and extend the life span of local culture industries so that culture and technology can develop mutual effects. The first stage of this research adopts discovery research to explain the concep-tual framework of local culture industries and mobile guide system and also uses Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) for research while the extended local culture value and consuming information values act as external factors to mobile guide sys-tem¡¦s Media Richness Theory(MRT). The second stage uses positive and qualitative research method to analyze the affecting factors to behavior intention of tourists from Anping Harbor National Historical Park about the mobile guide system applying to local culture industries. The total research tests are 250 copies and the effective tests are 226 copies. The research discovers that tourists have evolved from traditionally receiving information after arriving at the destination to collecting travling information beforehand. In the future, tourists would immediately receive information during traveling. This research considers that the development of local culture industries should acquire local culture values and local consuming values, which would strengthen the behavior intention of using mobile guide system. This discovery points out that mobile guide system can enhance the traveling happiness of tourists and lower searching cost. The information from tourist centers would be considered as one kind of hygiene factors and the messages passed from mobile guide system could be actively received by tourists to form different motivation in travel marketing and satisfaction.

Understanding the factors in implementations of mobileguide systems in exhibitions

Huang, Yi-Shan 31 August 2010 (has links)
The main goal of this study is to understand factors in implementations of mobile guide systems in exhibitions and to discuss how ¡§ fit¡§ and ¡§viability¡§ perspectives affect the wiliness of exhibitors to implement mobile guide systems. The study begins with interviews with Professor Hong Wanlong and Mr. Zhangjian Zhiting of National Science and Technology Museum, to understand how exhibitors evaluate mobile guide systems. Combined with analysis and induction of perspectives and variables from studies of past journals, sub-perspectives of ¡§ fit¡§and ¡§viability¡§ are built. Then, for a through statistical survey, a questionnaire survey is conducted to explore the wiliness of exhibitors to implement mobile guide systems. Analysis revealed that localization, sufficient storage for databases, mobility and timeliness showed positive correlations between the ¡§ fit¡§ perspective, while financial concern, infrastructure of information technology, support from top management and capability of information technology department showed their positive correlations with the ¡§viability¡§ perspective. However, the ¡§financial concern¡¨ factor showed a lower significance level than others, indicating that for exhibitors the factor is taken into account but not the most important concern.

Museum Visitor Engagement Through Resonant, Rich and Interactive Experiences

Templeton, Cheryl A. 01 May 2011 (has links)
Museums are vast resources, but much of their information is inaccessible to visitors. Typical labels for artifacts provide few details, making it difficult for non-expert visitors to learn about an artifact, and to find its relevance to other artifacts or to themselves. Although museums have developed interpretive aids such as brochures and audio guides, these are limited and do not offer visitors the possibility to explore artifacts both broadly and deeply as they go through an exhibition. Visitors often have questions that go unanswered or pass through an exhibition without being engaged. As visitors all have their own personal interests and preferences, it would be difficult to offer a usable version of any current interpretive aid that includes all of the information, stories, and related content that each visitor would like. Personal mobile devices provide a platform for interactivity and access to an unlimited amount of information, presentation of rich media, and flexibility for customized experiences both inside the museum and beyond. To bridge the gap between museum collection information and visitor engagement, I propose a framework for increasing engagement through resonant, rich, and interactive experiences mediated by a personal mobile guide, and present a case study and functional prototype mobile guide for the Hall of Architecture at the Carnegie Museum of Art.

Vägen mot en guideapplikation : Designförslag till en guide i kulturhistorisk miljö / The road to a guide application : A design proposal for a guide in cultural-historical environment

Andersson, Matilda January 2012 (has links)

Design, Implementation and Evaluation of a Mobile Exhibition Guide

Chen, Jingyu Chen January 2007 (has links)
As mobile devices are increasingly merging into our daily lives, exhibition ser- vices are also facing innovation based on the newly available technologies. Our project addresses these new circumstances. We developed a mobile exhibition guide for the exhibition called quot;Mrs Brown's Big Day Out: Hamilton Women in the 1950squot;. That is organized by the Waikato Museum. The proposed sys- tem re-uses the TIP(Tourist Information Provider) system's framework and provides information via mobile devices to visitors on Victoria Street, which is an outdoor part of the exhibition. The information about a sight will be delivered according to visitors' current locations and their interests. We would also like to examine the possibility of re-using our TIP system within the application area of exhibition guide. Therefore, we built the mobile exhibition guide system under the TIP system's framework and developed corresponding services that tailored the system to the requirements of visitors and the exhibition organizer. During the development, we faced a number of challenges, especially, modeling the unknown and unstructured exhibition data into the TIP database. The development process as well as the implementation and evaluation are detailed in this report.

iBeaGuide導覽服務系統之設計與研發 / The Design and Implementation of iBeaGuide for Guide Service System

鄭嘉鼎, Cheng, Chia Ting Unknown Date (has links)
Guide service is common in exhibitions and some museums. The improvement in digital technology has brought us to a new era of guide experience. Visitors used to read guidebook or listen to an audio guide via recorder, but smart devices now play an important role in guide service. However, most of guide devices require user to press buttons or touch screen when they want to access particular exhibits and the application in those devices are designed for one specific exhibition. This research designed and developed a guide service system with iBeacon, in order to make guide content management more efficient and enhance the visitor experience. The system iBeaGuide contains a Web-based content manage system and a portal guide service mobile app for exhibition visitors. With the feature of iBeacon, users no longer need to select the guide of exhibits they are watching. When iBeaGuide app detect iBeacon signal, it will turn to the correspond page automatically, not only when watching masterpieces but also when enter the exhibition venue or close to some facilities like information desk or toilet. iBeacon content manage system is for exhibition administrator. Via this Web system, administrators can easily upload guide content and update immediately.
