Countering the collusion attack with a multidimensional decentralized trust and reputation model in disconnected MANETs

Qureshi, Basit I., Min, Geyong, Kouvatsos, Demetres D. January 2013 (has links)
No / The FIRE trust and reputation model is a de-centralized trust model that can be applied for trust management in unstructured Peer-to-Peer (P2P) overlays. The FIRE model does not, however, consider malicious activity and possible collusive behavior in nodes of network and it is therefore susceptible to collusion attacks. This investigation reveals that FIRE is vulnerable to lying and cheating attacks and presents a trust management approach to detect collusion in direct and witness interactions among nodes based on colluding node's history of interactions. A witness ratings based graph building approach is utilized to determine possibly collusive behavior among nodes. Furthermore, various interaction policies are defined to detect and prevent collaborative behavior in colluding nodes. Finally a multidimensional trust model FIRE+ is devised for avoiding collusion attacks in direct and witness based interactions. The credibility of the proposed trust management scheme as an enhancement of the FIRE trust model is verified by extensive simulation experiments.

Performance evaluation for process refinement stage of SWA system

Shurrab, O., Awan, Irfan U. January 2015 (has links)
No / Abstract: In periodic manner the analysts teams are in the process of designing, updating and verifying the situational awareness SWA system. Initially, at the designing stage the risk assessment model has little information about the dynamic environment. Hence, any missing information can directly impact the situational assessment capabilities. With this in mind, researchers relied on various performance metrics in order to verify how well they were doing in assessing different situations. In fact, before measuring the ranking capabilities of the SWA system, the underlying performance metrics should be examined against its intended purpose. In this paper, we have conducted quality based evaluations for the performance metrics, namely "The Ranking Capability Score". The results obtained showed that the proposed performance metrics have scaled well over a number of scenarios. Indeed, from the data fusion perspectives the underlying metrics have adequately satisfied different SWA system needs and configurations.

Factors Affecting Faculty Intention To Use Course Management Systems In A Private University

Kultur, Can 01 February 2009 (has links) (PDF)
This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting faculty intention to use course management systems (CMS). The study was conducted in a private university with a mixed-method approach. First, 260 responses to a questionnaire was analysed by using structural equation modeling technique in order to examine the provided model. Second, interviews with selected 14 faculty members were conducted to understand the interrelationships. The findings indicated that, faculty intention to use CMS is mostly related with seeing value in using CMS including both personal and task/course related issues. In addition, the use of CMS should be perceived as easy which is directly influenced by the computer self-efficacy of the instructors. Discrimination of perceived personal benefits and task/course related usefulness is found to be important. Course/task related perceived usefulness is found to be weak without perceiving them personally beneficial. Availability of training and support is found to be weakly related to initial intention, however it appeared as an important variable for continuing to use CMS. &lsquo / Communicating the vision through leadership&rsquo / , &lsquo / promoting CMS&rsquo / , and &lsquo / sharing experiences and real life examples&rsquo / emerged as powerful approaches to facilitate use of CMS. Institutional policies regarding issues like &lsquo / academic freedom&rsquo / should be considered carefully while supporting the use of CMS. Moreover, to support institutional change it is important to be aware of the existence of different faculty profiles, which should be considered separately in relevant decisions.

Social Networking Sites Utilization For Teaching And Learning

Albayrak, Duygu 01 February 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to investigate students&rsquo / social networking sites (SNSs) involvement, students&rsquo / involvement of Facebook as course management system (CMS) in face-to-face course, students&rsquo / acceptance of Facebook, students&rsquo / motivations, students&rsquo / achievements, and their relationships. The study, used Facebook as CMS, was conducted in a private university with 42 participants in two different freshman courses. Maximum variation sampling was employed in selecting 12 students for interview. Mixed method was employed as part of an action-research approach. Both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods were utilized to thoroughly analyze Facebook use as CMS. Quantitative data were collected through three questionnaires about Facebook acceptance, motivation to the course and involvement of Facebook and course Facebook page. The qualitative data were collected through both individual interviews and discussion posts of course Facebook page. The quantitative data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, and correlation analyses. Coding schemes were used to both find the depth-of-discussion posts and convert qualitative data into quantitative data. The results stated that students&rsquo / SNSs involvement, students&rsquo / acceptance of Facebook, students&rsquo / motivations, students&rsquo / achievements and their relationships were different according to the taken course. Possible reasons of the differences of utilization and engagement in the course activities were clarified in the study. Results support that students and instructors could benefit from Facebook usage in learning and teaching. Most of the participants believed the value of having CMSs in all courses. Moreover, they preferred Facebook as CMS to communicate easily, to increase their active participation and interactions in their courses.

Modelo de gestão para obras de arte especiais : pontes e viadutos / Model of management for special structures : bridges and viaducts

Pregeli Neto, Antonio 02 August 2006 (has links)
Orientador: Vladimir Antonio Paulon / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-13T11:14:39Z (GMT). / Abstract: The application of management models in the civil construction is a new trend which searches to minimize risks in workmanships and to create a competitive differential. In this context, the objective of the present work was to develop and to implant a model of management for confection of precast prestressed beams, verifying possible improvements in costs, schedule and quality. The adopted methodology was the case study, in a bridge workmanship. The developed model of management divided the enterprise in three areas of performance, being Management of Engineering, Supply Management and Management of Resources. The Management of Engineering had a partial attendance to the expectations in the macro planning, the methodology of management of information was observed, in the control of projects; the constructive methodologies was adequate, in exception of the curing and the transport of the beams; the management of the work security and environment was efficient in the control of industrial accidents but inefficient to localize risks. The Supply Management was efficient in cost control, but parts of the analyses were harmed because of a mistake in the choice of some cost collectors; in the purchase process the pointers were superficial for the performance evaluation. The Management of Resources had a good performance, reflected in costs. In general, this job showed that the adopted pointers for the performance evaluation of the management model were satisfactory considering time and cost, but not conclusive in the quality. The conclusion is it cannot affirm that the application of the management model is the responsible one for the partial success of the workmanship, certainly this contributed significantly for such. / Mestrado / Edificações / Mestre em Engenharia Civil
