Search for the knowledge within big companies could become pain not only for knowledge seekers, but as well for knowledge managers in case they want a solution, that reflects well actual state of knowledge of a company, allows discovering emerging areas of knowledge and at the same time its maintenance does not require huge amounts of effort. This doctoral thesis starts by a comprehensive analysis of needs of expertise location of current company, description of theoretical backgrounds, related approaches and fundamental directions in expertise location, analyses their advantages and disadvantages and on the ground of this analysis presents a new expertise location technique that tries to avoid disadvantages of current expertise location systems by keeping their advantages. The technique is designed to respect the needs of effective knowledge management within a company, which main assets are their employees, their knowledge reflected in unstructured documents they produce as a part of their daily work. Described knowledge mapping technique analyses document publication history of company members and proposes various measures to asses and characterize their knowledge. The implementation of the knowledge mapping technique allows its direct usage (as an expert search engine) as well as its own evaluation (validity of search engine results). The efficiency of proposed measures on various types of document sources (project directories/versioning repositories/etc.) and within various dimension configurations (current/overall knowledge search) is evaluated by the practical evaluation method introduced within the thesis. The evaluation took place in the environment of a middle-sized software company allowing seeing directly a practical usability of the expertise location technique. The results of the evaluation are presented not only in statistical form, but in a form of suggestions of how to implement the model on various document sources within the company. The results suggest that described knowledge mapping technique is a viable approach in expertise location.

The thesis is focused on ECM and its representation in the reference model of IT management MBI. The main objective is to extend the aforementioned model with objects associated with the ECM - factors describing the structure of solutions, tasks defining the procedure for its implementation and the links between them and existing objects. The thesis analyzes in detail the benefits, but also the risks and problems associated with solution implementation. The methodology provides a set of best practices for the implementation of ECM.

This master's thesis deals with an assessment of specific information system of the Red Hat Inc. company, and consequent suggestions of potential changes. The thesis is divided into three parts. The introductory one is focused on theoretical knowledge which together with performed analysis has become a fundamental base for the system assessment and suggestions of changes leading to process improvements.

The diploma thesis focuses on the assessment of the information system and the proposal of changes. The starting point for the analytical and design part was the theoretical basis of the issue. The methods used are from the project management environment. The output of this work are suggestions for the organization should strengthen the weaknesses of the information system. Furthermore, the implementation of a tool for project management, including the necessary funds and its alternatives. All proposals for possible solutions are aimed at the company, which operates in the segment of human resources.

This masters thesis is concerned with the quality of the company Continental Barum Ltd., which operates in the tire industry. After evaluating the current situation in the company the EFQM method is applied, which showed the weaknesses and strengths of the company. Based on the findings, there are suggested recommendations for the highest ranking company according to the method of Excellence.

This volume contains contribution form the refereed “MobIS 2010” main program and selected papers of its tracks. This doctoral thesis is focused on the problem of investment decision making under uncertainty with computer support. On the basis of theoretical and empirical findings there was designed proposal of artificial intelligence tools implementation into the present methods of investment decision making under uncertainty. Constructive idea of this doctoral thesis is in fuzzy model of investment decision making for non-financial companies investments and implementation of this model into the knowledge base of expert system. Methodology of investment decision making under uncertainty was created on the background of mentioned practice of decision making about investment. Although from the first sight designed methodology appears to be complicated it has proved high effective in practice.

The number of statistical and mathematical credit risk models that financial institutions use and manage due to international and domestic regulatory pressures in recent years has steadily increased. This thesis examines the evolution of model risk management and provides some guidance on how to effectively build and manage different bagging and boosting machine learning techniques for estimating expected credit losses. It examines the pros and cons of these machine learning models and benchmarks them against more conventional models used in practice. It also examines methods for improving their interpretability in order to gain comfort and acceptance from auditors and regulators. To the best of this author’s knowledge, there are no academic publications which review, compare, and provide effective model risk management guidance on these machine learning techniques with the purpose of estimating expected credit losses. Циљ истраживања је био рaзвoj мoдeлa зa eфeктивнo упрaвљaњe oтпaдoм сa eкoнoмскoг и eкoлoшкoг aспeктa.<br />Прикaзaни рeзултaти тeoриjских и aпликaтивних истрaживaњa укaзуjу дa се и у услoвимa ограничења eкoнoмскe, тeхнoлoшкe, тржишнe и инфрaструктурнe прирoдe, oствaруjе пoзитивни утицaj система менаџмента отпадом нa нивo oдрживости и нивo рaзвoja пoсмaтрaнoг рeгиoнa.</p> / <p>Predmet istraživanja je korišćenje otpada u Regionu Severo- Istočne BiH za potrebe građevinarstva. Cilj istraživanja je bio razvoj modela za efektivno upravljanje otpadom sa ekonomskog i ekološkog aspekta.<br />Prikazani rezultati teorijskih i aplikativnih istraživanja ukazuju da se i u uslovima ograničenja ekonomske, tehnološke, tržišne i infrastrukturne prirode, ostvaruje pozitivni uticaj sistema menadžmenta otpadom na nivo održivosti i nivo razvoja posmatranog regiona.</p> / <p><strong>The research subject is related to using of waste in region of northeast<br />Bosnia and Hercegovina for purpose of construction. Research<br />and goal was development of model for effective waste management<br />from economic and ecological aspect.<br />Presented theoretical and empirical research results pointed that even<br />condition of constraints of economic, technological, market, and<br />infrastructure nature, using proposed new model are possible to<br />achieve positive impacts of waste management system on level of<br />sustainability and level of development of analyses region.</strong></p>

Managing data is one of the main challenges in distributed systems and computer science in general. Data is created, shared, and managed across heterogeneous distributed systems of users, services, applications, and devices without a clear and comprehensive data model. This technological fragmentation and lack of a common data model result in a poor understanding of what data is, how it evolves over time, how it should be managed in a distributed system, and how it should be protected and shared. From a user perspective, for example, backing up data over multiple devices is a hard and error-prone process, or synchronising data with a cloud storage service can result in conflicts and unpredictable behaviours. This thesis identifies three challenges in data management: (1) how to extend the current data abstractions so that content, for example, is accessible irrespective of its location, versionable, and easy to distribute; (2) how to enable transparent data storage relative to locations, users, applications, and services; and (3) how to allow data owners to protect data against malicious users and automatically control content over a distributed system. These challenges are studied in detail in relation to the current state of the art and addressed throughout the rest of the thesis. The artefact of this work is the Sea of Stuff (SOS), a generic data model of immutable self-describing location-independent entities that allow the construction of a distributed system where data is accessible and organised irrespective of its location, easy to protect, and can be automatically managed according to a set of user-defined rules. The evaluation of this thesis demonstrates the viability of the SOS model for managing data in a distributed system and using user-defined rules to automatically manage data across multiple nodes.
