This study has been prompted by the apparently similar claims of the Sixteenth century Anabaptists and the Nineteenth century Mormons of having effected a restoration of the "True Church" after a period of complete apostacy in Christendom. It has attempted to ascertain the extent to whcih these claims actually are similar by comparing the teachings of the two movements regarding the characteristics of the "True Church."

It was the concern of this study to determine the status of the bishops of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with respect to their function as counselors to the Church members.

Sensitive lands are being developed in great quantity. Because of problems caused by the development of sensitive lands, Provo City has developed land use ordinances. This thesis examines the development of Provo's ordinances along with the development of its sensitive lands. It determines ways that the city can strengthen their land use ordinances and avoid some of the problems found in sensitive land development.

In this thesis prominent teachings of the apostles and prophets were examined on the subject of the divine nature of God. These teachings indicate that among the elements of the divine nature of God is his Holy Spirit, his glory or the light which emanates from his person. God's glory, spirit and light were compared and analyzed to determine their relationship to each other. It was found that they perform the same roles and functions and are often used synonymously. Other aspects of the divine nature were examined, such as life, love, truth and goodness. The terms omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence were studied in light of statements made by the apostles and prophets. They show that God is omnipotent in the sense that he has all the power that it is possible to have, and that he is omniscient in that he knows the past, present and future. Even though God has an organized, glorified and spiritual body of flesh and bone, he is nevertheless omnipresent through the ubiquity of his divine nature and is in and through all things.

This study was proposed to analyze articles referring to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the national magazine press. A "symbol coding" form of content analysis was used, in which each pertinent word or name was categorized, counted as indulgent or deprivatory and classified as to the thematic nature of the text.

The purpose of this thesis was to bring to light as much of the music as possible, all the performers that could be recorded, and sufficient audience reaction to indicate the musical preferences of the area in order to provide an accurate, detailed account of the early years in the Salt Lake Theatre, 1862 - 1870. There was also the desire to present these things in such a way that they would be reliable, factual, complete, and still, if possible, interesting. An attempt was made to capture the spirit of the times, to make the characters "live," to transport the reader back to those early pioneering times in the theatre.

The purpose of this study was to trace the development of education in Washington County from its beginnings as a small district system to its present status as a free public school system within a county administrative unit.

The purpose of this study was to compare the use of selected official and unofficial Church periodicals by Seminary and Institute personnel of the Church with the objectives and purposes of those periodicals. It was also to determine the relevancy of those periodicals to the department personnel and their students. The magazines studied were: The Improvement Era, The Instructor, Church News, Impact, Brigham Young University Studies, and Dialogue. The most prevalent concern about all religious press in the ninteen-sixties has been their relevance to real life. This study discovered that there was a variety of opinions about the relevance of selected Mormon features to department personnel and their students. President McKay's words, particularly the keynote conference address, received highest ratings and features in Dialogue the lowest. BYU Studies was similarly low except among Institute men. Comparisons between the relevancy ratings given various features by those that read them and those that didn't found only one correlation (from Dialogue magazine) that was significant.

Stated in the form of a question, the problem of this study is: What are the expenditures and costs of senior seminaries in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? Specifically, this study proposes to answer the following secondary questions which are relevant to the problem: (1) What are the expenditures for the establishment, maintenance, and "current expense" of the senior seminaries in the Church of Jesus Chrsit of Latter Day Saints? (2) What are the certain "unit-costs" in the senior seminaries?

During the latter half of the nineteenth century Utah was undergoing physical and cultural colonization. Four months after the first Mormon pioneers arrived in the valley of the Great Salt Lake, the site of Ogden city had been purchased from Miles Goodyear. The city developed slowly during its first twenty years, but when the railroad joined at Promontory Point in 1869, Ogden became the junction of East and West. The city experienced a peculiar economic and cultural boom not known elsewhere in the Mountain West or along the railroad due to the predominately Mormon population which now was imposed upon by the non-Mormon railroad and business interests. This thesis investigates theatre in Ogden before and after the introduction of the railroad, examines the pressures of the conflicting ideologies, and demonstrates the results of these pressures in the theatrical activities of the city.
