Implementation and validation of a design model for photovoltaic water pumping system (PVPS).

Merlini, Maurizio January 2012 (has links)
Desertification is one of the main problems plaguing the Chinese countryside. The main cause is the heavy overgrazing of pastures and in this context the irrigation can be a solution to the problem. As regard the existent irrigations systems, pumps are driven manually or by diesel engines. Actually the use of electric motors would be a better solution for the irrigation development, but the lack of the access to electric network for the isolated rural areas represents a great obstacle. Therefore the use of PV stand-alone systems to produce the electricity for the motor-pumps (PVPS- Photovoltaic Pumping Systems) represents a both economic and technical good solution. However the weak point for PVPS diffusion is lack of tools to design these systems and predict their performances. This thesis work wants to provide a sizing software and the technical guidelines to select the suitable components for a PVPS. The developed sizing method has been validated applying it to two real cases where PVPS were already existing. Then, the obtained results have been compared with the characteristics of the real PVPS. The reliability of the design procedure has been verified, observing the similarity between the calculated outputs and the respective real values. Finally simulations have been done using the designed PVPS. The scope of those simulations has been to add some technical recommendations useful for the PVPS designer. The influence of the total head variations on the pumping performance and also the effect of the motor-pump subsystem choice on the final power size of PV array have been investigated.

Avaliação de sistemas fotovoltaicos de bombeamento / Evaluation of Photovoltaic Pumping Systems

Melendez, Teddy Arturo Flores 22 April 2009 (has links)
The present dissertation shows the evaluation of three Photovoltaic Pumping Systems, which involves two configurations: the equipment dedicated to the photovoltaic technology and the alternative equipment with nominal powers between 0.75 CV and 1.0 CV. The results show that the alternative configuration attained minor daily efficiency of the motopump system. The economic evaluation reveals the competitiveness of the alternative configuration in comparison with imported photovoltaic technology dedicated systems. It also should be considered the availability of equipment for power conditioning and the facility of replacement. It was also verified that the alternative configuration, variable speed drive WEG CFW08 and 1.0 CV SOMAR motor pump with 8 stages, works with daily efficiency near 30% in the 20 to 40 meters operation range. Therefore, with an adequate choice of the motor pump for the alternative configuration, performances similar to the imported photovoltaic technology dedicated systems can be obtained. For 30 meters, the alternative configuration pumped only 1% less than the Grundfos system. The cost of pumped volume for 30 meters of manometer total height of the alternative system is 22% cheaper than the system Grundfos and 51% cheaper than the system Solarjack (Sun Pumps).

The Control of Multiple Actuators using Single IEHEC Pump/Motor

Bekele, Teshale, Åman, Rafael, Handroos, Heikki January 2016 (has links)
The awareness and concern of our environment together with legislation have set more and more tightening demands for energy efficiency of non-road mobile machinery(NRMM). Integrated electro- hydraulic energy converter (IEHEC) has been developed in Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) /1/. The elimination of resistance flow, and the recuperation of energy makes it very efficient alternative. The difficulties of IEHEC machine to step to the market has been the requirement of one IEHEC machine per one actuator. The idea is to switch IEHEC between two actuators of log crane using fast on/off valves. The control system architecture is introduced. The system has been simulated in co-simulation using Simulink/Mevea. The simulated responses of pumpcontrolled system is compared to the responses of the conventional valve-controlled system.

Integrated smart hydraulic displacement machine for closed systems

Döhla, Werner, Bauer, Jörg, Kemnitz, Rocco 26 June 2020 (has links)
The following article describes the development, validation and series introduction of a novel highly integrated smart electrohydraulic 4-quadrant displacement machine. Starting in 2012, an unique unit consisting of a hydraulic internal gear machine combined with a newly developed electric machine with integrated electronic unit was created. The developed unit aims at the application in fully active automotive chassis in combination with hydraulic shock absorbers. The very special requirements of this application resulted in a new development with numerous detailed solutions which are described below. Parallel and interacting with the product development, all new series assembly and testing devices tailored to this product was developed.
